Saw a blip comment that Mo has now started more games than OBI/IQ combined in rookie years. Ouch Thibs.

I kinda don't get these posts. Randle played 71 games that year. And Mitch/Noel started.

Given how timid Obi was during his first year, why do you think Obi should have started?

IQ got a solid 20mpg all year long.

Do we memory hole these kinda things just to get the Thibs infatuation on?

Yes. Take all 5 years, extract the bad, pay no mind to context of each year.
For example, Randle always had a bad attitude, sucked in all playoffs, but, we some how were better with him because of "January"!
Then take DDV only year with us, forget the first 20 games, just remember the clutch, and when Jalen was cooked and he lit it up for last game loss.
Then take all of KATs bone moves, extropolate into the the future, and want them both back.
Forget Last season to conf finals and despite new coach and system, we have the 5th best record and surging currently. We have a wee bit of a banner, but its a banner! Now froth over Giannis as moses everytime KAT makes a bad foul.

Him and Kolek make no sense to trade IMO, clear roles for them now and in the future. But it seems like a Bey type is something we could possibly use. But with Shamet and Josh back I'm not really sure how much we need there, even in the event where OG or Mikal go down, we seem to have enough depth, but I'm open to adding Bey just for more size and insurance on OG/Mikal. The biggest need we have IMO is a 3rd Center. If I were going to prioritize one move, that would be it. We are uber thin at C with a very fragile backup.

Hukporti does not look like he is improving. He should be the defensive depth to back up Mitch, but he is not reliable even if he does some good things.

And Yabusele is a flop.

Unless they trade for a defensive big, I expect Jemison to be the next man up. He looks better than both of them.

With the way this season is going I would not be surprised if Jemison becomes a primary rotation big.

If Jemison pans out and we don't add a big to the roster, we still present defensive problems for many teams with OG, Bridges, Diawara and McCullar.

But if you don't have a big like Mitch fighting for the ball we will see our second opportunities go down.

They praised Mo and Brunson.

early on they were going on and on about how you cant touch Brunson without a foul being called. Ironic considering Zion gets almost 10FTA PG in just 28MPG, and Brunson only shot 3 FT's all game.

Then Poole was trying to foul bait and didn't get a call (which he absolutely shouldnt have) and they said something like "he's not getting that call, he's not Brunson"... ironically again Poole got 8 Ft's in just 26 min compared to Brunson's 3 in 36.

i'm sure they praised too, but they were really just playing to the narrative that Brunson gets every call, which is crazy because he gets fewer FT's than just about any other top scorer.

Yabu is definitely a flop.

The one thing that I have always found interesting is when the announcers let us know who the FO and coaching staff are high on, and Huk's name has come up several times by my count. He hasn't performed.

Add Mo, Kolek, and strangely Dadiet to that list too. Staff have praised those guys by my count.

Huk has been disappointing for sure, hasn't really improved. Ever since he passed up a wide open dunk and Kolek had to curse him out on national TV...lol... i cant see it with him anymore. but maybe he's one of those guys improving behind the scenes.

Yabu hit some 3's and thats great but if you watch the game he really is just so slow footed and makes so many boneheaded plays. IDK if he's just nervous or what, but he has zero IQ or feel for the right play. I CRINGE when he has the ball or is setting a screen, I think I trust 20 year old MO more alreayd.

That ASS just stands out big time - especially when guys dribble right around him. Very few guys look that slow footed -- he moves like Kat on D but at 6'8".

When Yabusele stands next to me in my la-z-boy chair and I say "Hold My Beer" he isn't using his hands

Kinda was hoping Kolek could have played more minutes when it was obvious Brunson had his once every month or so game where he struggled shooting but was still looking for his shot.

Never a Thibs brasher or hater and maybe I imagined there would have been more opportunities for Obi/IQ. Also may have my rosters mixed up but was never a Julius guy (wanted him gone) and wasn’t Elfrid ahead of IQ in rookie year? If being honest wasn’t a IQ guy either.

My comment was more geared towards Brown clearly experimenting more often and— was watching last night and think at 1 point it was OG out there with Kolek/Clarkson/McCullagh/Yabu in a tight game in 2nd half.

Huck does have a deer in the headlights look this year like he’s just not sure and he’s always seemingly a step late on rotations or fouling a guy unnecessarily. Had high hopes for him but now don’t trust him much.

Yes and Tyler had things moving.

We need to fix the Jalen getting pressured at 1/2 court and turning ball over. Tyler at a minimum takes dribble pressure off Jalen but seems he’s not going to get on court very late in games if everyone healthy. My heart stops when Mikal/Kat/OG start dribbling.

its funny b/c Thibs had those guys roles pegged from day 1. Obi was never going to be a starter in this league, and TOR fans see that IQ is a 6th man now, not a $35m starting PG. But now they are stuck with that contract. Meanwhile Jamal Sheed led them to a huge comeback last night while IQ was on the bench.

IQ and Obi were never bad players, we used them correctly and got their cheap years.

Thibs was right about alot of things, like CAM Reddish as well.

He DID trust RJ to play him 34mpg and RJ has turned out to be the best of the group. Same with Grimes, but Grimes is in a position where he's been moved around because he's a solid 3 & D guy but no one wants to be the team that has to pay him $20-25m per year.

I said I never liked Randle - stand by that. I remember his all time low playoff %s, his quitting during games and constant pouting. Still view him the same way —- didn’t say Obi was better but I preferred the style of play we might end up- with Obi (like Pacers).

Obi on the other hand never expanded his game the way I thought he would.

Don't look now, but tied for 3rd in the NBA

We talking about the year he dragged our sad franchise into the playoffs almost by himself? And had nobody to pass to while being double and triple teamed?

Or are we talking about the year he entered the playoffs on an ankle that needed surgery?

I’m glad he got recognition last year.
