ouch, not getting much with 5.168m these days, Knicks can't let Precious go elsewhere, vet min guys? Zeller, McGee, go for Muscala and stretch the floor? Hope Randle is ok with some minutes at C
VDesai wrote:The Knicks have only these options

1) Use the taxpayer MLE to sign someone like Goga Bitadze - this is only 5mm per year. I believe this would require the Knicks to be capped at the second apron - i.e. send more salary to the Nets for Bridges.

2) Use Bird Rights to sign Achiuwa to whatever they want - this is the most likely and simplest option

3) Use the veteran minimum deal to sign a Center - they will need to wait the market out to see who would accept this, but we would end up with a Cody Zeller type.

4) Use a traded player exception to trade for a cheap option that keeps them under the first apron (Isiah Jackson, Duop Reath?)

Aren't the Bulls in fire sale mode? I would love to get Vucevic.

Lets please stop just throwing names out there. We are coached by Thibs. He will never play Vuc. Our centers need to defend/rebound. Bigs doing both is the backbone of the way he does things.

Beggers can't be chooser at this point.

Would you prefer a stiff who can't do anything well?

He can score, rebound, and pass.

I don’t see a scenario where the Knicks can take back 20mm, so the point is moot.

Wonder what the asking price would be for Bamba or Wiseman? As a possible backup to Mitch?

Precious is the best guy left it seems unless we can swing a trade for Brook.

The Bridges trade is not finalized yet.

What if Knicks convince Nets to also include Day'ron Sharpe in the deal?

Before the draft we heard Nets were open to moving him for multiple 2nd round picks.

Knicks could drop another 2 seconds in to make this work.

This crossed my mind as well - like Sharpe in regular season and fact we have to get the deal done/adjusted with Nets.

Sharpe is a rebounder and I think solid passer in times I saw him.

Mitchell Robinson has played in 59 games 1 time in the last 4 seasons

We lost the wrong center today BUT I was a bit hesitant on us throwing that 4 year deal or another deal where he could opt out for more. I loved much of what he brought last year but his performance vs Embid was sketch, achilles is concerning and just wondered whether we would overpay.

In any event doesn't seem likely Mitch would move unless we are going for a bigger package and a legit center to replace him.

Congrats to IHart. He earned his big payday and was right to take it. The Knicks were right to not try to compete with that offer.

One of my favorite Knicks in a battle with OG.

He's better as a small ball center --- if only he could get comfortable behind the 3.

He set good screens, took care of the ball but also made solid passes, crashed boards and protected the rim along with great switch ability on perimeter.

I think it's a positive when you can put a quick big on Embid and take away the easy pick=pop jumpers or the pump fake blow by's he executes against bigger centers.

I like putting a Precious on him and daring him to go in the post where he's not taking 3's, he's prone to TO's and it's more difficult for him to get back in transition. In this day and age --- coaxing teams into the post is preferable to open 3s.

He's a marshmallow around the rim defensively and slow footed guarding the perimeter.

Yes - outstanding skills offensively --- I'd probably prefer him 1 V 1 vs Mitch for his offense but his big # makes it tough for us to match (I think).
