Man if the Knicks can only get a wing like Tari Eason next draft so RJ can move to the 2. Knicks should also explore using their trade assets to trade for a young player like a Eason, Duarte or other players they coveted in the draft previously who have shown themselves to be good. Or just take the pain of giving Cam extended time. Make can a designated defender for the starting unit. If Cam can hit the 3 at a good clip and play elite D he can fit as a starter. First unit has Brunson, RJz and Randall that need their touches and Mitch and Cam can score in the flow of the offense. I wasn't against the Knicks trading pick 11. But they better develop Cam who I felt they considered to be a lottery talent they got at the deadline. Turn Cam into a 3 and D wing. With Grimes, Cam, team has to experiment and hopefully pull off a nice trade at the deadline or draft.

If the bench and continue to do what they been doing for 2 years now and the Brunson led starters can look good we might be a lot better than people think this year.

Yes, key is Randall. If Randall can be a good team player and happily split time with Obi and play effectively in his time the team can prosper. Play well and be a good teammate until he is traded in a fair deal. Brunson and the team have to manage Randall and if he can in the floor build a Brunson statue outside the Garden.

Randle did well as the 3rd option on offense, I'm still waiting on an assist to MitchRob
MitchRob were 1 rebound short of a double-double in 19 minutes
Toppin's 24 pts in 20 minutes lifted the Garden out of their seats
Quickley grabbed 17 pts, 3 rbd, 3 ast, in 19 minutes
D.Rose Leadership got a 131- 114 Knicks WIN over Pacers

Two things you have said again and again were the importance of D Rose's leadership and the weakness of our preseason competition. Really good points.

I agree with this one about Cam as well. He seemed like he was rushing it in his first rotation but after getting some steals he really seemed to perk up. I think for Cam it's learning about playing with joy again. If he can relax a little and not worry about his next paycheck, we could have another useful player.

It seems like everything Hart does Taj did better. It will take some getting used to him. He was the only guy that stood out for having a sub par game. He does set good screens.

JB is looking like he will have an individual awards type season. He is the best we have at shot creation, even his misses look good.

Not sure why Fournier sat this one out. It's good to see Thibs working that depth to find lineups that work. Deuce showed some good versatility playing as the 3.

So far D Rose has had a very veteran preseason. He doesn't look like he's breaking a sweat and is instead doing his best to get his teammates involved. As of now, I'm not sure how much of the old MVP he still has left in the tank. We just have to wait until the games matter.

The heroics of Obi won the game. It was exciting to see.

This is a version of what I said before the first game. Our bench has the room to get even better.

Some love for Randle in the top tweet but my main purpose for this repost is the bottom tweet. Obi is without a doubt the best cutter and fast break leaker in the league. That is why I roll my eyes when Obi haters constantly bring up his 3pt shooting. There is more than one way to create space in basketball. Obi's problem early in his career is that our team never hit him on his cuts and leak outs. Now they are doing it a lot. Its an easy way to get those assist numbers up. We are currently in the same place with the team not being able to utilize Hart correctly yet.

If players hit him on his leaks and cuts Obi will get a set amount of easy points every game. The amazing thing is when Obi is having a good shooting game. That is when his scoring explodes. As much as I love Obi I like him where he is now with the chemistry the bench unit has. Starting is not always what best for the team. Quick and Rose hit him on leak outs and once we get Hart going space will open up even more for Obi's cuts. I no longer have any problem with Randle starting with how he now plays as the 3rd option with Brunson leading the starters. Just cut his minutes so Obi gets a minimum of 20 a game and I am good.
I would also like to give Thibs his praise for his teaching Obi on defense. The amount of times Obi got lost on D in his rookie year was too numerous to count. Now I don't even worry about Obi on D.

I don't want to get overly excited, but the Knicks have looked fantastic these 2 games. Is this an overreaction or has Brunson lifted this team up?

Knicks were 4-0 last preseason.

True. 1 think I have learned is to not get excited over the win itself but to get excited or disappointed over how we do things. For example, Randle has clearly changed how he plays to fit in as a 2nd/3rd option. This has me excited because it limits the things he does badly. So while it would be foolish to just get excited that we won it's not foolish to get excited about things like that.

So things I am excited for that I have seen so far.

Randle
No Randle attitude problem at all.
No poor body language.
No hustle problems.
No more offense run through Randle. He will pick his spots.
When RJ is cooking Randle was the 3rd option but when RJ struggles a bit Randle gets a little more aggressive and becomes the second option.
Randle pushes the ball a lot more.

I just used some things I have seen from Randle as an example on why I am excited. I have little lists for every player. Some good things on the list and some bad things.

Really? Rose is still probably our best player. Not worried at all about Rose's game.

fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

Playing at home vs. teams in transition make us look good. I wish this all can translate and the depth gives starters less minutes. Bottom line is if the second unit can carry it, they do play. That is how it was last year. Sometimes Thibs let them finish and they got tired too.
Second team gets the minutes it earns.

Wasn't paying attention. To busy watching Obi take over the game.
