Can Melo still play SF? The Knicks together with the lakers have interest in Melo. Im ok with him coming back i guess but he is definitely not a long term answer at the wing. I would rather go ofter Oubre and let Jonny Bryant and Kenny Payne work on his weaknesses. Im ok with bringing in both!

With just over 10 hrs till free agency, I think my wish list looks like this:

Devonte Graham $12-14mm
Kelly Oubre $16-18mm or Fournier.
Richaun Holmes 12-13mm
Derrick Rose 9.7 cap hold, 13mm actual salary
Burks, Bullock, Noel to the extent we can afford the between early bird exception (Bullock), Room Exception or otherwise through packaging

Graham/Rose/McBride
Barrett/Quickley
Oubre/Burks/Grimes
Randle/Toppin/Knox
Holmes/Robinson/Gibson

Sims/Simms

I’m ok with the Lowry/Derozan model. Not sure that is what is happening.

You know I gonna spin wit it

I would rather get Graham than signing Schroder. But im not so sure if Thibs would like Graham. Graham is a very good scorer but he rarely drives and put pressure on the defense. Similar to Lonzo and to a certain extent to Frank. Even if Frank showed he can consistently hit the 3 ball he still never saw court time. Thibs like his penetrating point guards. Not sure about Graham in the knicks but i think Graham can blossom this year and be the next Rozier if given 30mins a game.

Dragic off the table, Lowry off the table… seems like Riley nearly always gets his man

It feels like the Knicks should be signing a big PG to keep pace in the Eastern Conference, but rumors, for whatever they are worth, just make it seem like we won’t be signing anything big. The la k of a starting PG is too significant, as well as an improvement at SF. Fournier would be nice if his connection to us is real, but we really need a PG.

Much rather go after Duncan Robinson then the injury prone fournier he’s always injured … a good player when healthy but that seemed to be a rare occurrence for him.

What's the record for the most multi-year deals a players has signed with the same team? THJ getting ready to break that record

Yep, but a lot of the deals for the big options are already negotiated and in place before then, despite tampering being illegal

Lowry a Miami Heat?

Good.

This means Duncan Robinson is 100% becoming a KNICK!

Same here I've been screaming Duncan Robinson because (outside of Kawhi Leonard) he's my favorite potential SF Free Agent.

Not only did our Knicks rank 21st in 3s made but Duncan Robinson just became the fastest player All-Time to ever make 500 3's and he's also ranked 13th All-Time in NBA 3PT%.

In short; he's one of the greatest 3PT shooting NBA sharp shooters of All-Time and in 2019-2020 he led his Miami Heat into the NBA Finals!

We would've eliminated Atlanta last year had we had both Mitchell Robinson and especially Duncan Robinson.

He's not just a spot up shooter who camps out beyond the arch either. He moves without the ball like a Reggie Miller/Rip Hamilton; which is why he's been able to catch and shoot off of so many wide open 3's and his best ability as a shooter is his ability to catch and shoot with less than an inch of breathing room; his release is the fastest/quickest I've ever seen since Ray Allen.

Kid is a better shooter than even Allan H20 Houston... And he's more deadly than Klay Thompson too.

I don't think we are signing any of those names unless they are willing to take a 1 year deal for more money. Reports keep saying we are keeping cap space open for next year. So multi year deals can't happen. A few of those guys will not be willing to do that. That is why even though I wanted Lonzo he was never an option.

It'll be interesting to me how this shakes out and what the FO will do. I wouldn't put it past the FO to go the way of last year - all 1 year deals - or sign a player to more than 1 but on a contract that is very fitting to what his output could be. I think there is still a possibility of signing a player who they like to a contract they like while also trading that player again next year in a sign and trade scenario for top end talent.

I hope we can get 2nd year team options- last year Burke, Bullock and Noel probably all increased their value but they were all expiring so we couldn’t really cash in (not that I would have wanted to, but it’s nice to have the option too if necessary.

Isn’t he restricted? Can’t the heat just match?

Yes. They can just match.

But that'll put them over the salary cap space and in salary cap hell;

With no ability to sign other NBA FA's.
