That DSjr is only 3 spots down from RJ tells you everything you need to know about that list.
Yeah, that chart seems VERY bogus. What metric indicates Knox improved in any way, shape or form from his rookie year to his sophomore season?

If anyone wants to try to figure out how RAPTOR works... just by looking at the list, it seems like a lot of garbage to me. :p

I like RAPTOR. Its not perfect but it definitely does a lot to take some of the nuances of the game into account. Like any wins based metric, its important to use multiple( RAPTOR, WAR, VORP, WS48, LEBRON) to get a more accurate picture. I don't see how DSJ or Knox are that big of holes to the list. Knox and DSJ were still awful players per the metric but their weaknesses weren't as bad exposed(probably because they weren't playing as much).

Perfect example of why good old fashion watching people play still works in 2021.

Eye test is still more reliable but it dosen't hurt using both.

star players have an ability to impose their will on the other team. Last night RJ really showed THAT. Forget about just playing good basketball. As the game wound down RJ was matched up on guys like Beal/Westbrook and just imposed his will. Fighting for boards, putbacks, attacking the basket, hitting big shots, deflecting balls and playing great D.... he played like a star last night. Great game and huge win for RJ and the crew. Washington has firepower and they were playing for a win last night

I think the significant blocker is age - and that the player had to start their rookie year as a 19 year old and squeeze 1 1/4 seasons of games before 21 AND have these averages: 15ppg/5rpg/2.5apg

Though if we really look at the numbers first 100 numbers, Lebron/Carmelo/Doncic actually surpassed these higher standards:
2100pts/600rbds/260asts
21ppg/6rpg/2.6apg

Lebron/Doncic actually averaged more than twice the # of assists as Carmelo and Barrett:
2100pts/600rbds/600asts
21ppg/6rpg/6apg

And Doncic is the ONLY player in NBA history to have achieved these numbers over his first 100 games:
2100pts/800rbds/650asts
21ppg/8rpg/6.5apg

I do agree that it's fun to step back and realize how rare it is to have such a complete game as scorer/rebounder/playmakers at a young age. And of course, his future is quite tantalizing when you consider how those other players progressed in their careers in their early-mid 20s. (Lebron/Doncic/Carmelo became legit parts of the MVP discussion)

RJ quietly gradually improving all facets of his game. He’s our best draft pick since Ewing

Id say Mark Jackson, he was ROY. No one expected him to play like that, right out of the gate. Was a fun time watching Jax and Ewing as a tandem.

He’s actually been on a bit of a shooting slump the past few games. Not a huge awful slump but Definitely something I hope he and the Knicks have noticed and are working on. Monday is a good time to break out of it.

That’s the best part in all this is he’s figuring out how to affect the game when his shot isn’t falling. Melo struggled with this and RJ is already getting a better grasp of it in year two. Man I hate putting pressure and unrealistic expectations on our young guys but I can’t help the feeling that he will be a borderline all star next year with another summer with Hanlen.

I think he's still got a ways to go but also think he will get there. He really checks all the boxes. Good physical profile to go with some BBIQ, great work ethic and genuine love for the game. Also love the pairing of RJ and Thibs.

RJ is trending towards being an all star 25/8/5 type of guy who D's up your best scorer at age 24. Right around the time he's cashing big checks

And his defense is become a strength — ranked 13th in the NBA in defensive rating among players who’ve logged 30 minutes. Players he defends are shooting 42.9 percent.

Upon his return to Minnesota where he got a reputation for not relating well to younger players, Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau can take credit for Barrett’s increased defensive prowess.

RJ Barrett wrote:“He’s a great coach, Barrett said. “Great person overall. Very smart basketball mind. He’s also really funny. He knows the game and really challenges you. I really like Thibs. I really like Thibs a lot.”

I have caught Clyde saying “Barrett closed out to the shooter late” several times when he really wasn’t late at all. His defense has been really good. Obviously there were bad moments but everyone has bad moments on defense.

Yeah those stats confirm what we all see. He does pretty well to stick in front of his man without fouling and plays good enough team D.
