A lot of interesting stuff here. Calls Myles Powell his “brother for life” cause they workout together?

Great interview.

Sometimes when you together thru a tough, unique period of time, those bonds just last.

Obi feels like he has a personality to just match NY, different than RJ but just as good for the city and team.

Good character, high BB IQ, hard worker to go with talent. I'm coming around to this pick.

Same. Now the coaches have to perform a miracle and make him not deficient on D.

After all the back and forth of the draft, we have two good kids that can help this team. One that may be a star especially if he can improve his defense. Time to root for our yoots!!

Weird seeing guys at this level using left thumb to push off on the shot. Old school techniques are a thing of the past. Lol

Get that work in Obi1!

I'm excited, haven't been excited like this in a while. Not just for Obi but the Obi & RJ duo who both compliment each other pretty well imo. Both can be 18pt scorers this coming season.

Thanks Phil for not trading picks. And thanks Perry for stabbing Mills in the back and stopping him from doing more damage in an attempt to save his job.

Best move Perry has made as the Knicks GM

dude looks so much bigger than 6'9". He looks like he has the legit physical tools to be an impact player.

Tell me I’m wrong

That is exactly right.

I'm thinking the only player they would have selected ahead of Obi would have been LaMelo Ball.

If they had #2 and LaMelo was off board, maybe they trade down a few slots?

Possibly. They seem to like Wiseman too, but obviously that would have been tough with Mitch. But I’m guessing Obi was 2nd or 3rd on their list.

He has a big frame on top of being 6’9. His body will fill out even more and he could end up being one of the strongest guys in the league. 7’2 wingspan

At 8 the only other option was Vassell

That long range shot looks smooth. Who said Obi wasn’t the modern PF to compliment Mitch?

It will be interesting to see how his physique transforms as he's 220'ish right now. That's too small to bang in the nba but to live on the perimeter as a stretch 4, he is also going to have to work on his quickness. Is he going to be Al horford , blake griffin or kyle kuzma? Amare with a jumpshot? All of these types are going to still require a lot of body work and he will be a fun project for the personal trainers.

His greatest asset right now seems to be his vertical offensive game and outside shooting potential. However they build his frame, they have to preserve these weapons or he will be hard to keep on the floor until that project is finished.

I think with him being so deadly as a finisher the idea was tossed around that he isn't an ideal fit. We are talking about a guy who is a career 41% 3pt shooter. If he can keep working I can see him at a guy who makes 2 threes per game on 38-40% once he gets his feet under him in the league. If the Knicks add long-term pieces at both guard positions who can shoot, than the balance for a great lineup is there. Maybe Rivers or Burks can be one of those guys, we will see. Hopefully Quickly can too.
