My threshold for not feeling horrible about a CP3 trade is much less. OKC would have to basically give him away to the Knicks. If OKC is rebuilding and have moved on from CP3 and they need his salary off books / Cap relief, then Rose is not doing his job if he trades any major assets for CP3.

So what's missing here is that *WE ARE REBUILDING*! But let's scrap all that so that we can help OKC rebuild by taking the albatross off their back and putting it on ours.

Genius.

For randle, Knox and pick 27 .... that would be a huge haul for OKC for 36 year old Paul... but with that said I bet Paul plays till 40 41 ... and he’s off the books in 2 years. He would make our team instantly better. He would do wonders for our youth, and help change our losing culture. I just hope Knox doesn’t turn into a beast.

I would be open to CP3 but we should be getting assets, not giving them for it to make sense to us. I can imagine other teams with hopes of title contention seeing things differently but of course their situation is different and CP3's value to them can be different

I was thinking that a move for Reggie Jackson might be a perfect fit.

Remember Alanta gave up a 1st pick and Shroeder for Melo who they really had no interest in keeping..

I just believe Leon will negotiate better deals than we have seen in the past

Was talking with a fellow Knick fan and commented on how bad of a fit this would be for the Knicks. Considering there are several better options. If we want an experienced PG who is still putting up good number how bout Goran Dragic? UFA so would not cost any assets and can probably be had for half of CP3's contract. But again, as you mentioned, unless Rose is bringing over another 2 elite player, why would we do that? Another alternative, if Rose is inclined to do a trade involving assets, why not for some young star? ie. Devin Booker or the likes? At least we would be adding someone that may fit a timeline for our draft picks to develop or the time needed to add talent to the roster. It just makes no sense for CP3. Feel the only players worth giving up assets and crippling CAP space by 40+ million for would be guys like Harden, Kawhi, LBJ, AD or Giannis. This would be a joke and the straw that pushed long time fans elsewhere. Well maybe. Hope and truly feel Rose is smarter than that and think he realizes he is no longer representing CPS but the NY Knicks.

It doesn’t seem like it now because most of us (myself included) get super annoyed by Randle but trading him and another asset for Paul has the potential to be one of the worst trades in Knicks history. Randle can turn into a monster all-star tomorrow if he opens up his eyes for good.

Not to mention Jackson is a free agent and will not cost anywhere near CP3 money or any assets.

Although feel Jackson is at the same level as Payton minus the terrible 3pt shot percentage. But definitely agree with you and think that would be a better alternative. Really think that Thibs feels he has potential in one of the three PG's that we have. With Smith he can have the Rose type player he had in Chicago. With Frank he has the defensive stopper. With Payton he has a solid experienced player that can facilitate an offense.

Look at it from OKC's perspective. They have a PG that just played out of his MIND this past year and they are willing to give him up for 2 non productive players and the 27th pick?

I get the age and $42M per thing. OKC got to show something in return

I couldn't agree more; Kahwi, Harden, a few others all have actually WON something.

Chris Paul is an insurance agent.

Look I won't miss Randle, Knox, or a nameless second-rounder but we're assuming an unmovable contract AND in doing so locking up all cap space for years.

Why not Dragic, Reggie Jackson, who_not? They don't handcuff the team.

Geezus. I am at the end of my rope with this team. So sick of making the same F'n mistake over and over and over.

I think Reggie or Shroeder would help. Both attack the paint and play with some swagger. Reggie is a former BC guy which carries some clout with me that he's not a dummy. It would come down to price. I've had enough of Payton and his inconsistency and the way he tries to form some clique with Randle. I hope and think Thibs is going to give DSJ a shot to do what DSJ does best, but i also don't think he's going to undermine team growth for it either: DSJ will need to capitalize on the opportunity or start brushing up on his Chinese

would also like to seem some deal along the lines of randle for hield or another 3 point shooter. We also need to target guys who hit in the clutch -- that tells me a lot about competitiveness and mental fortitude

Dennis is younger 27 versus 30, but Reggie has a 7'wingspan which can come in handy

Cap space for a 35 yo PG entering his 15th season and making $42mil is a good deal. I just looked up the stats for Nash, Kidd and Billups. About age 35 is when the declines start showing. This would be a gamble from our point of view.

Not surprising if this goes through. I said it months ago....If you sign a coach like Thibs, the plan is to win as mush as possible as opposed to the slow-rebuild that some of us have called for. I'm not a big fan of chasing Paul (And I'm sure he would rather go to a team that can win now). Don't want to give up this yrs lotto pick or our pick next year. I'm also not ready to give up on Knox either. A package centering around Randle and maybe the Clips pick is as far as I would go.

No need for anger until something is done. Paul has his money in any event. MSG/CAA does not change that.

Not thrilled to hear this, but not surprised. If we are going this route - my only deal breaker is not giving away Frank. I'll help Knox or DSJr pack - but please no Frank. Randle I would pay his moving costs! Randle, Knox and 2nd rounder would not be terrible for 2 years of an established PG to help shift the culture (see Jason Kidd). Knox hasn't show much and does not seem like a high IQ player we will regret even if he improves. Randle has shown everything and he needs to go. Would we still have money for a Christian Wood or Gallinari type signing?

Cap space yes, but they also received 2 first round picks for taking Chris Paul in the first place. So either way they come out winners.

Randle is a black hole on offense who can’t shoot from 3, Knox can’t shoot either and plays defense like a sink is tied to his ankles

If that and a late round pick us all OKC wants please by all means

I don’t hate Randle but take it easy. He can’t shoot from outside. He’s a good post up player but those are like running backs in today’s nfl

If your starting PF can’t shoot from 3 you don’t win in today’s nba
