I think Phil is disappointed in Melo. The talent is there.
Melo is content to be who he is.
If Phil was half the slacker some accuse him of, he would not care as much and perhaps allow no triangle and let the team wallow around .500.
Noah and Rose was a stretch.
PHil has been here almost three seasons. team was bad, real bad. Team was good with Melo surrounded by faded players (54 woodson team) and Phil is rebuilding it.
some of you when in defense of Melo almost defend empty calorie starphuching.
Call for Phil's head and replace with someone who MAYBE succeeded elsewhere and transpose that to the future? Recently only Ujiri was able to move from Denver as a starphuch GM and succeed.
Toronto had a good base to work with and draft picks/cap space as well. Im not taking anything away from him, just saying. He also got to move from a historically bad ownership.
Phil had no pick last year which meant he had to deal with the sins of the past. That included getting rid of Tyson, Felton, JR, Shump.............
Trying to discredit Kevin Ding is very Trump like, or shall we say immature. If one does not agree with him thats OK, but he bought some good points to the table. Making fun of his name is sophomoric. Yes, he is trying to have a take like all in the media does, including newspapers!
There is the middle ground, not "Villian vs Hero" or playing the blame game. Its called being a grown up and finding compromise. Melo is not a victim here by some slanderous lying executive. Phil has not made this personal, its about holding the ball. "Leopard Stripes" Was about not changing his game. He never said he lacked heart or effort. The CBS interview was hardly a trashing!!!!
Putting a picture of Mr. Ding and then linking to "Linsanity" was not really racist, but implying ethnic sympathy when you don't even know what his take on Lin was, is kind of not well thought out.
If I posted a picture of you Hofstra, and your black, then said "Well your defending Melo because he is black, and Phil is white", what might you think after that?
Yes, I am white, have followed the knicks and Phil since he was a player and his career. I reference his books because I have read them, which gives me some insight to who he is. Have you done the same?
Most of the "Haters" are really just saying Melo is not furthering the franchise. We see this on the court. So do all the GM's in the league. He has a place and is an elite player at what he does best, shoot and create his own shot.
What we don't see is what life would be like without Melo. PHil, a pretty good coach, might think we take a few steps back initially, but eventually Melo will age out and we will have moved on. Sometimes you reach a cross roads.
