The one thing I really like to show players, which I don’t think a lot of them actually look at, is just simple shot charts. Where do they shoot the ball well from? And where don’t they?
You’d be surprised how many times I ask a player, “If I make a play for you to shoot from the free throw line, that’s a great shot for you, right?” And the guy will say, “Oh, yeah, absolutely.” And then I’ll pull out the sheet and show him he only shot 34 percent last year from that spot. I don’t think they understand where they shoot well from.http://grantland.com/the-triangle/qa-new-phoenix-head-coach-jeff-hornacek-on-the-rebuilding-suns-and-the-glory-days-of-the-jazz/

I can guarantee that JH has all the breakdowns and will be looking to teach this team how to play more efficient ball. It takes time to get players to lock in on it but IMO what makes the biggest difference is the commitment of the Coach. If he insists and persists in the gym then his team will eventually take on his personality and way of thinking.

I think JH has the players he needs to play the way he wants to and it will be very interesting to see how much he's able to impact these players. Just picking up the tempo and aggressiveness will have an immediate impact IMO. I've always felt that the Knicks last year were playing too slow and you really want to be moving faster than the defense can react. When you slow it down and hold the ball you make it easier for the defense to force you into bad shots. JH knows this and will insist on a quicker pace.

Its concerning that Hoiberg could not change Rose's shot selection and he is one of the biggest proponents of efficient shot selection and metrics.

I don't really know how effective he was in general to be honest. Not just Rose but the entire team. They dropped off quite a bit from the year before under Thibs. Perhaps he just couldn't get thru to that group after such a strong leader in Thibs. The Knicks won't have that situation. JH is replacing no one even close to Thibs. Also I suspect Rose will want to be on his most cooperative behavior here. Motivation is all up and down this roster IMO. No one will want to be the one guy not pulling in the same direction. That Bulls team seemed broken.

His biggest problems may have been Rose and Noah ... gonna be an interesting season for both NY and Chicago.

Well Noah only started 2 games and played in only 29, so I can't really use him as much of a hindrance to the coach reaching the rest of the team. Whatever it was I don't see those same issues being present with this mostly new Knicks team. These guys are all friends and happy to be here. There's an excitement among the players that you can see already as the guys are getting together earlier than I can ever remember a team getting together. Heck Noah and Melo got together right after Noah signed!!! I just think there's a different energy going on with this team.

The players in Chicago were very loyal to Thibs and Hoiberg may have been in a bad situation trying to replace him. It's hard to go from a hard coach to a softer one.

NOt sure about that but those guys were the team captains. There is this from Butler,
"I believe in the guys in this locker room, yeah," Butler said. "But I also believe that we probably have to be coached a lot harder at times. I'm sorry, I know Fred's a laid-back guy, and I really respect him for that, but when guys aren't doing what they're supposed to do, you got to get on guys, myself included. You got to do what you're supposed to do when you're out there playing basketball."
