Philly can't really create any leverage over the Knicks if he can't be sure who we want more or if we'd accept KrisP without reservations if they took Russell. He'll have to make deals with other teams behind us if he wants to extract any value. One way or another Hinkie is gonna have to settle on one of these guys. Hopefully he takes KrisP cuz he thinks Phil wants him more than Russell.
Givony is saying that Porzingis does not want to play in Philly and Hinkie will have a tough time taking him if he can't have his doctors give him a physical. Don't know if there is any truth to this, though.
Hope Phil does not deal with Hinkie, because we will probably come out on the short end, like Orlando did last year.
Russell might be the consensus pick around here… Doubt that there are many folks around here who would be unhappy if slipped to us… I know I would be pretty happy.
Have not even been following him much because I never thought we had a chance.
If you look at Russell's skills, style of play, and personality/character, he might be the perfect pick outside of Towns for the Knicks.
Heard Ryan Russillo this morning, and he talked about Russell's intelligence, but also an awareness of his present weaknesses as a player, especially his D. He also think Russell suffered because of the terrible lineup he had to play with at OSU.
Heard Russell interviewed yesterday on one of the shows, and he already has that Jeter type awareness of what to say when interviewed. He was also honest about not being the athlete that Westbrook is when someone compared him to him.
Also heard Towns on Mike and Mike this morning. Dad had him playing PG early on, and he was also playing other sports like soccer. Russillo said one scout actually believes that HE is the best shooter in the draft- period.
