Ugh this has all the makings of Rondo wearing orange & blue next year. No one is going to want him except the Knicks

Briggs, you know I would prefer to rebuild through the draft. Do you really see the Knicks doing that? Or throwing money at Kevin Love and Rondo and see who takes it? This is Dolan. Phil is desperate. Melo is getting older.

Hopefully Dolan doesnt follow the same pattern that has wrecked teams in the past. Rajon Rondo is broken and Danny Ainge is smarter than anyone in the KNicks organization.
If Ainge sold Rondo to get younger--we should follow that lead and stay far away. He has done nothing for Dallas.

The thing that worries me is that Melo wants him and he's a name that'd appease him and Dolan and the starphuching NYK fan contingent.

So basically you're conceding that we're not going to be overpaying for names! If you don't think any of them are coming here then why are we talking about the Knicks overpaying for names? You said "The Knicks are gonna overspend on a name. That's just what's gonna happen." Who are you referring to? Rondo and Harris, who is also a restricted FA? I'm just having a hard time understanding what you said before and are saying in your response. It doesn't jibe.

I think because of the lack of patience of Phil, Dolan, Melo and the lack of quality players available due to RFA and the trade deadline moves of guys like Dragic, yes, the Knicks will overpay for a name. I think Rondo is one such name they may overpay for, particularly because Melo wants to play with him. I think Greg Monroe is the other one they may overpay, which I feel would be a big mistake and take us right to the no man's land of 35 winsville aka Dolan Town.

The Knicks simply overpay for whatever they buy. Dolan thinks toilet paper costs $5 a roll because that's what the grocery store that delivers to his house bills him for.

The nature of Free Agency is to pay players more than they currently make so you're going to usually spend money for a proven commodity. As for what Phil will do that largely depends on who we draft. Big or Small will change the guys we target. We'll just have to see where we end up in the lottery before we can really guess a set of targets. Phil said he's more likely to not go after the big names but we shall see what the draft dictates.

fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

The nature of free agency is to overpay? No it isn't. It is Dolan's nature. Not every GM and owner possesses that tendency by default. Poor logic. You have a million angles for defending this franchise.

Very rare for teams not to pay more to lure a FA. Where have you been all these years that you don't see players getting more money in free agency? Doesn't mean the Knicks won't get good value this summer. All you're assuming is the worst. That doesn't mean it will happen the way you think.

What is your impression of the Mavs? Did they overpay for Parsons? Would he be there if they didn't? How about Jeremy Lin and Asik? Generally overpaying is the norm. Sometimes players leave a really bad situation like the Lakers and sign other places for less but that doesn't usually happen. Pau and D12 needed to get out of LA.

I will take a crack at your question. My impression is the Mavs aren't winning a championship anytime soon. Only teams who draft and sign the right players and understand value will

Well my questions were did the Mavs and Rockets overpay for free agents and would they be there if they didnt. Do you think they overpaid?

I think the FA not named LeBron that is best for this team is Jimmy Butler, but I can't see Chicago letting him go, though they do not have a ton of cap space. With Towns and Butler we would have two two way players. A core of Butler Melo Towns works for me. Give me a 3pt specialist PG and defensive C and I am Triangularly satisfied. If Chicago was a guys fit for Melo, I would center a trade around him and Butler, only for cap reasons. His 24mm is an issue with future competitiveness.

If we could get J.Butler i'd be absolutely ecstatic. That would be the perfect guy to get and i'd be happy with either of Towns or OK4 with those two and other free agents would really want to come to New York if they had a chance to play with Melo and Butler.

Anything with Calderon as PG is terrible.

PG--Calderon
SG--J.Butler
SF--Melo
PF--P.Milsap
C--OK4/Towns

That's a terrible lineup?? I'll take that lineup all day every day.

The Knicks are gonna overspend on a name. That's just what's gonna happen.

Who said anything about a youth movement?? There's no way in hell we'll be going young unless you're talking young like G.Monroe young or Dray Green young??
