dont count on that. the owners will lockout the players long before they let an increase of that amount occur.

and this time they would lose...

The tax is going up by 20m but those teams will have salaries above that. They also will have players looking for bigger deals that year or the next year. Its about being repeat tax offenders and suffering extremely for every dollar you are over.

For some reason the owners decided not to ease into the jump and that is why next year cap will not be as much as some expected.

This is way T.Chandler was traded and why I say his stock would have NOT gotten any better if we held on to him. Everything you just noted that he can not do is what needed from a center playing in the triangle offense.

there are just too many forces going against a team giving away a young cheap asset... you have the foreign market, you have the dleague which okc used to stash their pick... you have an exploding free agent market plus the tax line going up significantly... how often has this been done in the last couple of drafts?

and they would have to give it away because we don't have anything to give... i mean.. it COULD happen but is it likely?

Young cheap talent is good but when they are not playing and costing you double the money it becomes a detriment. Teams have to take that into account. Also, I am not saying that the knicks could make a deal because they lack assets but those are 4 teams that could be willing to give up this years 1st.

Side note: HAs anyone else notice how rarely both of the top 2 picks work out. I mean the last time both picks became all-star players I think goes back to Glenn Robinson Sr and Jason Kidd.

Yup but he still had more value than what we got back. We would've got back a lot more value had we traded him at the deadline last year but we were still trying to make the playoffs as a meaningless 8th seed. Probably would've got more value for him at this year's deadline as well since Mozgov got 2 firsts. I think Phil rushed the Dallas trsde because they wanted to make sure they resigned Melo.

And we always trade guys when their value is at their lowest. We have a tendency to devalue every player. It sucks

Should any of the devaluing get attributed to the NY area press? The NY Post, especially, is as provocative as some of the posters on UK.

Not much positive coming out of this season, but some of the beat reporters and opinion writers seem to take great glee piling when writing their articles hammering the team.

EnySpree: Can we agree to agree not to mention Phil Jackson and triangle for the rest of our lives?

This is true! We'll all talk about this until red in the face--work our way to the 28th slot and finish 6th in the draft.

You have to really watch Towns Ron

@ Guns

I was NOT referring to their games and skill sets
I was referring to their size and physical abilities such as mobility/length/athleticism/body build/speed/quickness
Towns has the ability to dribble the ball, shoot, and have an all round game that Chandler does not have but I wasn't referring to that, again I was referring to the physical abilities
If I need to explain more, I will....
