Would you rather we talk about this pile of **** we call the Knicks?

So true. And his book based on his 18 game remaking of the sport was a riveting read. True Nobel Prize winning stuff.

Patrick Beverly and Toney Douglas are so effing ugly in comparison.

Question (and possible new thread title) for the ages:

nyk4ever wrote:why are we still talking about lin?

Answer #1: because we all need a brief break from talking about Chris Smith,
Answer #2: and how stupid Ray Felton is.
Answer #3: and its always a great segue into Melo hate

Hmmm I was under the impression it was Mike Danphoney and his gimmick offense that made avg players appear better than they really are. see STEVE BLAKE 19 /8/3 VS Timberwolves with nobody playing with him FOR THE FAKERS

so gimmicky that Woody runs a less effetive version of it and MDA's team defended better, but yea... keep at that

I noticed whenever Lin goes up against great point gods, his play has been mediocre at best.

Or how about playoff pressure basketball. I'm happy for him he got paid, he should do well when teams are so focused on the other 2 bigs stars on the team Harden-D.HOWARD.

does he even have a whole NBA season under his belt? The point is he's better than any guard we have and he upside. Your going to tell me Felton is a better PG? Maybe at start of last year, not now. Lin is better and thats obvious. Hey, Melo has a hard time in the playoffs too. You need depth. You need more than one gun

Lin has found his groove. it's early and he won't keep this hot shooting, but he's figuring it out. The one thing I'm noticing is that he's not a point guard. He's a Gilbert Areas/Jason Terry lead guard type who's probably better coming of the bench as a super sub. That's kind of the role he's playing in Houston now and it fits perfectly. Kinda similar to George Hill.

It was very minor knee surgery- MWP had it and was back on the court a week or two later! I think Lin's struggles last year were a mental thing, plus his coach riding him hard.

I don't know, if Lin had been here last season and struggled like he did initially with the rockets, the pressure on him from the fans and media may have crushed him, as it has many players before. Plus him getting injured for the second playoffs in a row would have resulted in more scorn (see Tyson).

It seems if we trade a player we have all the patience in the world for them to get through their struggles and develop, but if we have them on our roster its "what have you done for me lately".

I think people still talk about it for a few reasons

The Knicks play a selfish brand of basketball. It's disgusting to watch and our coach allows it. When the ball was moving early last season Melo was an MVP contender and everyone was invovled and the team was winning. Lin made the right passes to guys and got the whole team invovled. Our coach has and will always allow JR to launch from anywhere and turn the ball over. Melo was unstoppable last season because he didn't settle for jumpers. We never run any screens, backcuts away from the ball, instead we run one pick and roll and go right into isolation.

The franchise is a disgrace, constantly lies to it's fans promotes medicore basketball and charges top notch prices. So you pay the ****ing luxury tax to put out a product worthy of your ticket prices. Pretending you are worried about the tax hit and then signing Kidd, Camby and Novak to the same deal with the same tax hit is a pathetic. As is then scurrying to get rid of those contracts and including a pick for a guy that can't rebound or defend that shoots a low percentage, that was likely getting cut.

But, this is the same team that used an amnesty when they have a player who everyone knew would likely need to be amnestied.

Typical MSG sh!t show. That was a fun player to watch and root for. But lets focus on the good. We have Chris Smith

MS..I hope you're way younger than James Dolan is.

Because barring an incredible amount of luck, I fail to see this franchise competing with the Spurs, Miami and other well run franchises with a Plan, to get a championship as long as Dolan is running things.

And it looks like Dolan will be running things as long as he's alive. It's a bit much to wish for someone's early demise just because of sports.

So I can only wish that all of us on this board are eating their veggies, exercising, and avoiding stress. We just have to wait out Dolan and hope the next owner can just cut checks and stay on the sidelines.

Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

Excellent post, with just the right amount of lightheartedness discussing a serious topic. Gives a good perspective for what we are dealing with. Thanks.

I hate being right. I would much prefer to be dead wrong and saying Lin-who? While Felton is making an all star bid. Of course Im a Knick fan, dumb ass that I am

It's not even about being right. I didn't create this thread to run it in. How does rubbing it in help matters? I'm still feeling sick knowing that we finally had a young talented guard fall in our lap. The whole time it's been about how Melo needs help. It was the most fun I had watching this team since the Ewing Knicks by far. And we kicked him out the door because Dolan was drunk. We didn't even offer him a ****in contract!! We persued 40yr old Nash!!

Dolan and this team deserves the current state they find themselves in. I feel for the fans who are trying to remain positive and hopeful

Only James Dolan could have Jeremy Lin fall into his lap, get a ruling that allows us to retain his bird rights (thus sacrificing nothing in terms of building a team)...

and then screw it up.

I forgot how poised he plays. What a waste to let him go. I said it then and will say it again now, he was the best thing to happen to this team since the 90's.
He is better than any pg on this team right now, and it isn't close. He is actually better than the sum of any 2 pg's on this team.

This is the Knicks. I hope management is enjoying the savings... Oh wait, they actually spent that money and more on the Geriatric bunch.

Good luck Jeremy. We usually trade away our smart and young guys anyway.
