This train of though that they are both similar stems from the perception that they are both tall jump shooters.

However, like you pointed out, I'd say Gallo is more of a slasher at this point that tends to get to the line while still pumping up a large amount of threes. Barg's I think plays more on the post. Neither rebounds great. Gallo plays more d.

I believe Barg's will be a more consistent perimeter shooter that can actually drive and post. The Knick's two main problems against the Pacers were poor rebounding and poor perimeter shooting. Barg's may help with the latter issuer.

Yeah and it appears in past match ups he gives Hibbert a very hard time and can pull him away from the basket.

"They could and we'll evaluate this. This will really be a little bit different this year. I know we've been great with Melo at the 4, but Bargnani brings a different dimension to our team I think because he can do a little bit of everything. I've got to get him up to speed defensively, but just like Melo's a nightmare for people at the 4, he's a nightmare for players at the 4 and 5.

"So I've just got to get him in and get him acclimated to what we're doing, and get him comfortable. That's the key with him. I've got to get him back to feeling good about himself, because I think he's an excellent ballplayer, I do."

Didn't wanna create a new thread because this is relevant to Bargs.

Really hoping Woodson begins to move away from allowing the 3s to fly like last year. Seemed to be one, of many, keys that did us in against Indy. Knicks averaged 29 attempts per game that I believe was tops in the league (Houston was also up there, I believe).

Also, just looking at the guys departing compared to those coming in would seem to support moving away from the 3 ball:

2012/13 regular season 3FG %

Kidd - 35% (Probably 3% during playoffs)
Novak - 42%
Cope - 42 %

Bargs - 30% (realize elbow was an issue)
Artest - 34%

Also, picking a guy like TH over Bullock was also interesting in that Bullock appears to be the stronger 3 point shooter and TH has more of an all around game.

So whether it's Bargs starting at the stretch 4 or Artest starting at the 3, I'm hoping to see some more posting, midrange jumpers and bully ball being stressed on offense. Taking the ball to the bucket was huge during the hot stretch late in the season and hopefully Woodson recognizes that for this upcoming year.

for his career Bargnani is a 37% 3-point shooter. and the last 2 years he played with Bosh (only time he had someone comparable to Melo in terms of a primary option drawing the focus of the defense) he shot 41% and 37% from 3. so i think we'll get an above-average 3-point shooter atht every least, but i agree, i hope the offense is more diverse this year and less of the "lets take 30 3's a game and see what happens" of last year.

it's a team game. quote statlines all you want but it won't change the reality: carmelo and bargnani are not team players. subtraction by addition.

same goes for amare and bargnani or melo and and amare or god help us bargnani and stat.

subtraction by addition.

it's a team game.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%
