Alright, down by 7 at the half is exactly where we want them. Just need to hang on and make a run in the end.

It's kind of funny. I love JR but he basically came out and said he didn't think Lin deserved that ridiculous contract he got. Well..JR is the man now playing with a bunch of bench guys. Why is there no JR smith explosive winning streak?

Perhaps the key was Jared Jefferies

The point wasn't really to call out Smith for commenting on another man's money. It was more to ask a question. Smith is definitely more athletic than Lin is. He has a better handle. He has a better shot.

If Linsanity was as simple as a case of someone stepping up simply due to there being a vacum of talent due to injuries, why aren't we seeing something like that now?

Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

Differnce being Novak said the structure was ridiculas, but the value was deserved.

Really?

Novak and Carmelo's comments were identical. I-dentical.

Jeremy Lin is gone and the legend still lives on. Long before he delivers a championship to Houston.

We should sign Cliff Paul for a 10-day contract.

I think we can all agree the structure itself was ridiculous. It was designed by Morey to be ridiculous, knowing the Knicks luxury tax situation. Same with Asik and the Bulls.

At worst Lin is slightly overpaid at $8M a year but I suppose you're overpaying 1) for the potential and 2) Restricted FAs tend to get overpaid to prevent matching.

But yeah I really was curious as to why something like Linsanity doesn't just happen every single time a team is wracked by injuries if it's really just a matter of most NBA players being able to step up if just given the minutes/shots/ball.

It would seem that playmaking is actually a skill no?

Perhaps the Clippers were expecting an easy win?

Bill Simmons just said we look like a lottery team right now. There is no team in the NBA that could play great basketball without its 3 best players...What a moron. Just trying to **** on the knicks like the little annoying celtics imp he is.

Ok, so melo said this?

http://theknicksblog.com/text/novak-agrees-houstons-contract-offer-to-lin-was-ridiculous/

“It can be looked at as a ridiculous contract in the sense that it’s a $5 [million], a $5 [million] and a $15 [million over the first three years],” Novak told SNY.tv Wednesday at the Steve Novak Basketball Camp at Sleepy Hollow High School.

“It is kind of ridiculous in terms of the structure. I don’t think in terms of Jeremy’s value that it’s ridiculous. I think everybody knows that. He’s very valuable….I wasn’t there when Carmelo said it but ‘ridiculous contract,’ I think probably means more the fact that there’s a max offer being offered in the third year when the first two was a five.”

When Melo is out, we just don't have a reliable #2 scorer. Stat we knew might not be around with those knees and he wasn't a starter anyway. But look at us out there, who is the scorer? Copeland? We are shooting 30% or so!
Looking at the roster, it amazes me we are considered, or were considered, a championship team. We are Melo and role players.
We really need a reliable #2 scorer.

I was just thinking the same thing. Its like they put the team together thinking there was zero chance Melo would miss some time.

ok. It is very much possible that Melo, JR, and Novak were all referring to the contract structure.

C Paul said it at the half, they are playing at the Knicks pace so I'm sure they will pick it up in the 2nd half. Knicks have to get to the rim more and keep the pace slow.

Everyone's offensive game seems to have vanished- Felton, Cope, Novak and JR are all better than what they've shown us these past few weeks. Bah!

If Chandler learns one post move it would help in that department.

Could just be that Melo meant the same thing. He's just not as articulate and aware of the fact that his comments could be misinterpreted.

Asked if Lin's contract could cause a challenging dynamic with his teammates, Smith agreed.

"Without a doubt," he said. "I think some guys take it personal, because they've been doing it longer and haven't received any reward for it yet. I think it's a tough subject to touch on for a lot of guys."

Who do you think "some guys" were?
