Just like total punch stats don't show "Ring Generalship" in boxing.

i don't want to go off topic, but that "ring generalship" in boxing is so overused... I know what they are trying to say, but in the end, in boxing, isn't it about punching, hitting the other guy and not getting hit.. I used to see that term used for guys like paulie malinaggi, when in essence the guy was just running.. LOL... I actually think some judges give points to guys for Ring Generalship... boxing needs some reform..

LOL.. ok, sorry for going off topic, I am a HUGE boxing fan..

This is creepy...I love boxing too!

Ring(Generalship) don't lie!

Perfect example is the Pacquiao - Alexander fight. Pac clearly landed the harder blows, absorbed the lighter jabs from Alexander, and finished each round stronger than his opponent. Howard Lederman, my favorite boxing analyst, uses this term to a fault and backs it up with examples during the fight. Lederman had it for Pacquiao and the Nevada judges, after reviewing the incorrect outcome, gave the fight to Pacquiao due to his Ring Generalship.

Of course Mayweather, is a Ring Generalship genius, even though his punch volume does not reflect this. It's those wild misses by his opponents, followed by his counter pot shots, and his patented "shoulder roll". And his trademark punch "the check hook".

But I won't get into that anymore, because I hate that focker!

did you mean Bradley, but anyway, I do undestand the term, and how they are trying to apply it, but at some point you have to go with the more effective puncher and the guy that lands the most.. sometimes i see these analyst use that term for a fighter they like who is getting beat and they are trying to use the "ring generalship" to make up lack of punching....

As far as the pac fight.... that was bad judging.. pac won that fight..

Yea, Bradley I meant...I was in Vegas at the time too, the whole place was in shock!

when it took a while to announce the scores, i knew something was wrong.. that night was just odd, from pac delaying to come out until he finished watching the celts-heat game, to the score cards.. just odd.. lol

The majority of us just got caught up in Linsanity and how he was a savior to our season to an extent. He brought a buzz to this team like never before and was a great story. He become an up-and-coming PG that just fell out of the sky. It was a once-in-a-liftime event. It was easy to dismiss bringing back Felton, especially after a poor season, but it was the right move and he is a very good point guard with still a lot of room to grow. It is safe to say this team would not be 8-1 with Lin as the PG.

I wish more posters had this type of attitude. I agree 100%

I felt like what this team lacked we are now loaded with, which are two-way players. We always had guys that were either all-offense types (crawford, Nate, Lee, etc), or the Jeffries' of the world who are solid defenders but liabilities on offense. JR Smith has become a two-way player, so has Melo, Felton definitely is, so is Kidd, and Chandler to an extent as well because of how efficient he is on offense. It is nice to have these types of players.

jason kidd has been playing both sides of the ball on a high level for many years... I don't think it is fair one bit to say after 8 games that JR and melo are now two way players... again, this is just a bit over the top.... steve novak is missing a lot of threes, is it fair to say he is no longer a good three point shooter? of course not.... again a little perspective is needed..

Well Melo and JR has been playing both sides of the ball last year as well..JR played surprisingly good defense last year..But regardless of the labels and the number of games, both are playing both sides of the ball and it makes a difference..It's refreshing...

I know I'm a Felton lover but the kid is just balling...Finding Chandler yesterday was a thing of beauty...I can't remember the last time I jumped out of my seat and pumped my fist at an and one conversion..Chandler did it twice last night with nifty passes from Felton...I so want Prigs to get up to speed so the PG play don't drop off and Kidd could settle in at the two...I can't wait for Amare to get back so Felton can greet him with a few of those passes...

Well ... a bit - yes.

Like I have stated, if he would come back and be the healthy version Amare that we only saw for half of season 1, I would love to have him back.

However, getting back the gimpy non rebounding non defending Amare who is not hitting jumpers due to dead leg syndrome as is getting his shots block by guards, I'll pass.

You were sarcastically drooling about Felton as well, manning and groaning at every shot he took...But as usual, you were spot on...

I said and I stand by what I said, that Felton is an inefficient scorer, is a bad shooter, and takes bad shots.

Nothing has changed.

He is a decent passer and a decent defender. He is also a good guy and his teammates like him.

I think that he should stop shooting inefficient shots. Rondo can't shoot either but he is not inefficient. He knows when to not shoot.

What's your point here? To try to say that I was wrong about Felton? Why?

I would love to be proven wrong. He has an extremely inefficient career as a scorer.

Well the defense was daring Felton to shoot...we already had this back and forth...you said he should not shoot those shots in preseason...U were and are wrong...I said he should continue to take those shots and he has been successful knocking them down but still isn't the point...He should continue to take those shots the defense is giving him...It's key to how were are playing as a team...Felton is a better shooter than Rondo...Rondo is horrendous altogether but there are some shots he too should take if the defense dares him...Felton is knocking down a few of those shots and now gaining confidence...u were proven wrong...

Amare is going to come back strong maybe not the same player he once was but he's gonna do some damage and him and Felton will become the pick and roll of doom

How do you know that?

Track record proves otherwise - if we got 50 quality games out of him for the rest of his contract, I would be shocked.

What's your point here? To try to say that I was wrong about Felton? Why?

I would love to be proven wrong. He has an extremely inefficient career as a scorer.

Well the defense was daring Felton to shoot...we already had this back and forth...you said he should not shoot those shots in preseason...U were and are wrong...I said he should continue to take those shots and he has been successful knocking them down but still isn't the point...He should continue to take those shots the defense is giving him...It's key to how were are playing as a team...Felton is a better shooter than Rondo...Rondo is horrendous altogether but there are some shots he too should take if the defense dares him...Felton is knocking down a few of those shots and now gaining confidence...u were proven wrong...

uh ..... ok

You also don't have a clue to where Amare is in his comeback either...Many people would tell you they are amazed that Amare has played for so long at such a high level since his surgery...No other player with the same surgery has done this...Amare has, but now somehow, u know he is done...Some doctors can't make that call but u know...

How many beers have you had today?

Just curious.

Ha...None yet, scary isn't it...Starting in on the wine after dinner...Beers have to slow, don't agree with my gut...

Does Anyone Appreciate How Well Raymond Felton Is Playing?
