People who had been harping for quotes - you got some quotes now. 2 out of those 3 quotes seem to imply Melo did not in fact want Lin back.
You're right- despite him explaining many times he wanted Lin back, and Lin saying that there was no problem at all between them, and no source actually saying that there was a problem between them and that Melo wanted him gone- you know better than anyone involved, because you have looked into Jeremy's eyes, and Carmelo's eyes, and you can see that Melo was jealous of your and Jeremy's relationship and that he was trying to break you up! What about all the quotes where Melo said he did want Lin back?
Why are Lin fans so obsessed with the idea that Melo hated him?! Why is it so important to you to believe that?! Melo isn't even the GM! everyone knows it was Dolan's call to get rid of Lin, what the heck does Melo and whether he loved/liked/was indifferent to/hated playing with Lin have to do with it?!
You're trying to someone blame Melo for a decision that wasn't even his to make! like I said, why do you need to believe that Melo hated Lin and somehow is responsible for him leaving?
uh, when did he explain many times he wanted lin back? he had one soundbite that said he wanted lin back... that came a few days after the controversy of his "ridiculous" comment.
i've heard from fans here that melo loved lin many many many times. but that is based in a lot less reality than what i've been posting.
anyway, that wasn't the point as much as - for melo to blame lin for people calling him selfish shows that melo is still fundamentally immature and will never win a championship.
he's more marbury or mcgrady than lebron.
and that should bother you a lot more than he said/she said.
i still think it was a mistake to let the best young prospect this team has had in probably 24 years, going back to mark jackson's rookie season... walk for nothing. to appease a guy who on his best day is tracy mcgrady jr.
ALSO - the idea that the decision wants melo's to make is laughable. you know what we've seen quote a bunch of times - CAA runs the knicks. they run the knicks to make melo look good. that's why woodson was forced to fire his long time agent and sign with caa. that's why most of the free agents the knicks sign are CAA guys. the idea that melo doesn't have "juice" in the front office, to use a marbury, is silly. melo has been enabled the way marbury was. the lin thing is just one piece of it.
organizations that enable second tier scorers who don't defend ain't winning a ring.
the idea that guys like jr smith are going around saying the knicks are gonna win it all this season is humorous.
