I used to like having guys like Buck Williams and Terry Cummings- tough vets at the end of their careers, who could step it up in important games. We've really missed having smart vets the past decade. Next offseason we have our draft pick and the MMLE, to help replace any drop off Camby and Kidd might have after this season.

People who had been harping for quotes - you got some quotes now. 2 out of those 3 quotes seem to imply Melo did not in fact want Lin back.

You're right- despite him explaining many times he wanted Lin back, and Lin saying that there was no problem at all between them, and no source actually saying that there was a problem between them and that Melo wanted him gone- you know better than anyone involved, because you have looked into Jeremy's eyes, and Carmelo's eyes, and you can see that Melo was jealous of your and Jeremy's relationship and that he was trying to break you up! What about all the quotes where Melo said he did want Lin back?

Why are Lin fans so obsessed with the idea that Melo hated him?! Why is it so important to you to believe that?! Melo isn't even the GM! everyone knows it was Dolan's call to get rid of Lin, what the heck does Melo and whether he loved/liked/was indifferent to/hated playing with Lin have to do with it?!

You're trying to someone blame Melo for a decision that wasn't even his to make! like I said, why do you need to believe that Melo hated Lin and somehow is responsible for him leaving?

uh, when did he explain many times he wanted lin back? he had one soundbite that said he wanted lin back... that came a few days after the controversy of his "ridiculous" comment.

i've heard from fans here that melo loved lin many many many times. but that is based in a lot less reality than what i've been posting.

anyway, that wasn't the point as much as - for melo to blame lin for people calling him selfish shows that melo is still fundamentally immature and will never win a championship.

he's more marbury or mcgrady than lebron.

and that should bother you a lot more than he said/she said.

i still think it was a mistake to let the best young prospect this team has had in probably 24 years, going back to mark jackson's rookie season... walk for nothing. to appease a guy who on his best day is tracy mcgrady jr.

ALSO - the idea that the decision wants melo's to make is laughable. you know what we've seen quote a bunch of times - CAA runs the knicks. they run the knicks to make melo look good. that's why woodson was forced to fire his long time agent and sign with caa. that's why most of the free agents the knicks sign are CAA guys. the idea that melo doesn't have "juice" in the front office, to use a marbury, is silly. melo has been enabled the way marbury was. the lin thing is just one piece of it.

organizations that enable second tier scorers who don't defend ain't winning a ring.

the idea that guys like jr smith are going around saying the knicks are gonna win it all this season is humorous.

Marbury had isiah. If you truly think after reading all of the information regarding the new cba, lin's contract, the poison pill, how punitive and restrictive retaining Lin in year three would become for the knicks, that the final decision to not match the offer was made by melo how can you root for the Knicks?

Also Woodson had the same agent as Larry brown. Dolan hated brown's agent.

I just want to say this, if it wasn't for the Novak, JR and Ronnie Brewer signings one could call this off-season a failure.

Lol what you meant to say is If it weren't for the:

Steve Novak
JR Smith
Jason Kidd
Marcus Camby
Kurt Thomas
Raymond Felton
Pablo Prigioni
Ronnie Brewer
with possibly Kmart or Chris Andersen

...signings this off-season would be deemed a failure.

Losing Lin trumps everything! My life is over! I bought the official Linsanity band-aids! I have no hope!

And don't even get me started on losing:
Landry Fields
JJ Fishlips
Toeknee Douglas
Mike Bibby
Dan Gadzooks
P-Diddy
Jorts (that one actually did hurt me)
Renaldo Balkman
Jerome Jordan

And now:

Kenny Atkinson!

Abandon ship now, avoid the rush!

Sounds a bit sarcastic. Are you being sarcastic?

If you are...

It's not the loses that bother me (ok, maybe Lin's) but the acquisitions.

Perhaps I'm being too pessimistic, but we signed 3 players at the very end of their careers to more than 1 year deals. All 3 players will decline in skill from last year.

Addition by subtraction, my friend. We jettisoned a SG who can't shoot, a defensive specialist who at 6-11 couldn't hit open layups and was off the court more than on, two PG's who were PAST the very end of their careers, and various extremely low grade bench fodder. With the noted exception of Jorts.

I'll give in to your pessimism on KThomas, as he wasn't much of an asset when he was here the first time, and now he's 57 years old. Hey, 6 fouls is still 6 fouls. But Camby can obviously still play, as well as Kidd, better than the bench we had before. These are not starters, they are backups. If they end up being starters through injuries at some point, you have to admit we're well ahead of where we were at the end of last season.

How cool is it that Head Coach Mike Woodson is in Houston monitoring the Olajuwon/ McGee/ Stoudemire Summit Meetings?

During the championship run, Kurt and Camby had tremendous chemistry in the passing game. Kurt was good for a sneaky double double. Every team needs an enforcer who makes the opponent think twice about driving inside without a license.

Ten or eleven minutes is all we need from Kurt Thomas.

You make a great point about our Pine Brothers being superior to last season. Let my people run.

please dont talk about camby and kurt in the past tense...that was over 12 yrs ago...lol

i DONT want kurt touching the floor...hes mad old..i hope we get a back up PF...love jurt but hes too old

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

Vote For Jason Kidd as the new Mike Bibby

jrodmc wrote:Vote for Kurt Thomas as the new Herb Williams!

Kurt Thomas is the new Josh Harrellson until Earl Clark ('sup Rahway) shows up on the set.

Marcus Camby is the new Jerome Jordan.

Raymond Felton is the new Baron Davis.

Pablo Prigioni is the new Jeremy Lin

You get the idea.

Can Ronnie Brewer come up with a handshake with Felton, or is it too soon for the Lin luvas?

I know it's against regulations to cross the Answer Man, but:

Marcus Camby is the new, improved actually talented and will get meaningful playing time Jerome Jordan.

Raymond Felton is the much, much newer, improved Baron Davis.

Pablo Prigioni is the new old Jeremy Lin [take that anyway you want to]

You get the new, better idea.

Fixed. Kind of.

The more you watch Pablo manage the floor and make the best use of every precise move... the more he reminds one of Jason Kidd.

The Fix Is In.
