When you're desperate enough to but this is Kidd we're talking about. He isn't some has-been bench scrub. He's a seasoned pro. A veteran. A superstar. A Champion.

He is 39 years old....39...

Why are you always pissing and moaning. I mean i know you love felton but kidd can still play plus he is a BACKUP. he will help lin more than felton would. Kidd can still defend and he can dish just as good as nash

So what. Manage his minutes. If he takes care of himself and his body, what does age matter? you're acting like Jason Kidd is Sam Perkins or Benoit Benjamin. You can be 39 and still be in great shape.

And above all, he can pass on his veteran experience to Lin. Felton isn't going to provide any of that. He's just going to be another warm body sitting next to Lin on the bench.

Younger, better shooter, and he's not terrible with the ball in his hands. Basically, he's a better version of JR.

Younger doesn't get you points. If it did, we could get 5 year olds to play for us. Terrible with ball in hands? Like most fans, you're paying too much attention to "skill" and too little to outcome. The skill matters only if it gives you some tangible better outcome. Kidd actually had a slightly higher true shooting %. I still don't see anything Mayo does well.

Their effective fg% and true shooting% are pretty similar but Mayo is much younger and can still improve. Kidd is at the end of his career and is only going to get worse.

That is a fair point. If the two were playing at a similar level now, even if it were only a small edge for Kidd, I'd go with Mayo. But Kidd has a huge edge in several aspects of the game and there are no areas with meaningful edges for Mayo.

Well if they want they can get Mayo too with a sign and trade for more than whats out there. The Grizz might be the perfect team for this. I doubt it but it is an option. I would rather them do it for a big. I am not a big Frye fan but a stretch big might be nice.

It matters because he is guarding the quickest position on the court..Last year I saw a few Mavs game...He was being blown by..He is done..he can't do it anymore...I know u think it guarantees Lin will play 47 mins but it won't make the Knicks better...

The Knicks wont be 'better' unless they make a major roster move...and they're not doing that.

i disagree. they need to solidy their backcourt which they are doing now. Kidd and Lin. Now they will probably get JR back and S/T for mayo or foye, Another option is trying to get Camby

You always have a chance if you put a team out there who can play defense...Always keeps u in the game...Lin and Kidd will be a liability...Awww what the hell...Starphuck and sell some tickets and Jerseys, watch the Bulls play the Heat and talk about how Lin outsold Kobe this month....

1 - rebound

2 - deliver the basketball to Amar'e Stoudemire, and everyone else, in rhythm

3 - coach, and be heard

4 - send a clear message to Jeremy Lin that life go on... and Houston is NOT New York City. Take it or leave it.

5 - raise the bar for Tyson Chandler to develop one low post move.

6 - make the Knicks halfcourt offense a thing of beauty

AWESOME POST!!! I really think fans lose sight of the mental part of the game which is extremely important. This team MUST be more efficient in the halfcourt and with Kidd they will learn how to excel in playoff style BB. This team needed a great passer and thinker in the halfcourt. We couldn't execute halfcourt offense at a high level. This is a smart move.

I just think his numbers will continue to get worse and, even though it's a small contract, signing him will hamper our ability to use our exceptions

Well at least Kidd is strong and can play D I remember him guarding Lebron and locking him down in the 4th James could not post him up in that series

if we are gonna compete we have to have veterans who have been there like kidd and tyson. like I said i know kidd but as a backup point guard he will be really helpful in my opinion. I mean he is in good shape and wont have to worry about playing 35 mpg. I mean its not like we got bibby who even in his prime was a good player kidd is a HOF player

people forget tahn kidd has always been a good defender even at his age. nash despite being a great facilitator was probably the worst defensive point guard

NBA player career numbers usually resemble a bell shaped curve...Kidd's numbers more than likely won't be getting better after 18 years...

Kidd isn't about numbers. It's about assembling a team that makes sense. I've come around on the signing. Knicks needed another ball mover and a leader. They didn't need another guy who needed to take shots to be effective. Kidd is effective when he's getting other guys shots.

The best thing about Jason Kidd is that he is healthy. The dude is durable and at 6'4 would be a cool running buddy with Shumpert. Bibby and Baron were both damaged goods. Jason Kidd may have some tread wear but he is a stud.

One more thing, Jason Kidd would make Landry Fields better.

Now close your eyes and visualize running Kidd and Lin together.

We desperately needed a floor leader (not another scorer) and we now have one.

Life am good.

Kidd has never had too many injuries which is why he si able to play into his 40's i llike the move i mean he was the best option out side of nash or getting chris paul which wasnt happening

Did someone say Bay Area?

"(Lin) and Kidd both Bay Area guys, and Kidd is a childhood hero of Lin's and someone with a lot of wisdom to impart." - Seth Rosenthal

You gotta admit, it has a nice symmetry to it.

Only one thing matters with our "awkward" roster. Does Kidd make the guys around him better?

You damn skippy.

yes i know kidd has a great bball IQ but hes OLD...we signed him to a 3 yr contract...hell be 43!...id rather have felton...younger and plays d
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

Bringing in Kidd also opens the door to attract other vets who might now want to play for the Knicks. Like maybe Camby? or Rashard Lewis? or a SG. Maybe JR will want to stay now?

Knicks sign Jason Kidd - will either match Lin or sign Felton?!!?! WHAT?
