Well, I guess we can welcome our new PT SG Lin to the lineup. I can't argue, he will play PG as well, mixin it up with Nash, but our ball stopper in Shump will be gone. (Well, if he ever recovers from his injury). My heart says no, but my mind says "We have a short window in which to compete." I hope we can get a third team involved. On a positive note we keep Jorts and Jordan.

The BIG problem I have is now we will have Woodson as coach ( a defensive coach) and Nash as our PG. Who is going to play defense? We have Melo who is ISO and no matter how open Melo is when Nash gets him the ball (unless he is under the hoop), he is going to go ISO again. It is in his blood.

This just sucks as a decision to have to make but Miami is only going to get better.

This is about as little as we can possibly give up for Nash. We have to include some players just to make the salaries match. Do you expect him to sign here for the league min?

But, you do know the danger in trading for an almost 40 year old player. No matter how good a shape you are in, injuries pop up and then it is finished. Big gamble.
Another question we don't know the answer to though, is does Shumper regain his form? Top notch lateral speed AND long fast arms/hands to match. But if his lateral is gone, and it will be the first and maybe second year, he is not the same defender.

well to be fair he is 37 and is a 2 time mvp. Shump who i love is a great defender but doesnt have an offensive game and he suffered a very serious injury that who knows how long it may take him to get back to normal

shouldn't we be really really really fair and just say Nash is 38?

The thing is we can easily keep Nash rested because of Lin. Also we have to see who else Grunwald brings in. Heck Shump is young and he got injured meanwhile Nash isn't coming off surgery. People only have the fear of Nash getting hurt as an excuse but ANYONE at ANYTIME can get injured. That's not a reason not to make this move.

is it about salaries matching or the Suns wanting the SG they missed out on in the draft? Why not sign and trade Novak?

People seems to act liek shump his healthy. I mean i hope people realize shump is gonna have a long road back and who knows if he will be the same player. So its risky for both teams

It's definitely worth considering. Turning an injured Shumpert, Toney Douglas and Gadzuric into Steve Nash while retaining Lin/Novak/Smith and the MLE would make Grunwald look like a genius. The team in it's current form has a three-year shelf-life and Nash has a great skill-set for the line-up. You'd have to get a shooting guard but Nash and Lin is probably the best PG situation in the league if that happens. I don't know if J.R. Smith will stay at 2.8, though.

Steve Nash GETS BUCKETS BABY! yeahhhhhh!

I'm actually torn on this trade. Let's pray for Nash to take peanuts.

Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

Id like to see the Knicks make a legit run now. I believe Shumpert has a great career ahead of him if he gets past his knee injury and commits to working on his game. I don't have enough faith in Shumpert's recovery and development to pass on who is still one of the best PGs in the league, still playing at a high level, and who is one of a handful of players in this league who could get Stat, Melo, and Tyson (not to mention the rest of the team) on the same page.

We know what kind of player Nash is right now and what he brings to the table. Shump has to get over a serious knee injury and develop his game. I would rather we get a player who can get everyone else to play at a high level, who has a track record of being able to do this, than pass on a deal over a player who we still aren't sure has completely recovered from a knee injury and who still has parts of his game that still needs work. For what? Some non existent contender in the future? The future is now with this squad.

We aren't going to be able to get someone who could have a dramatic effect on this team's fortunes like Nash by offering TD as the centerpiece of any trade. It will cost us but I believe its well worth it.

I look at it this way:

If we don't trade for Nash and Linsanity flames out and Shump doesn't return to form, we are idiots.

If we trade for Nash and it works out, we may win a chip an Lin might learn a thing or to if he re-signs.

Shump is not all that, you need to pull the trigger on this and then sign a defensive SG.

It's a no Brainer to me! Nash is ready to win right now and still has game left on a team with younger All Stars still capable of carrying the bulk of the load. The Knicks window is NOW!!!

Remember Linsanity? Nash can bring that every night. If we keep Lin as well it's a win-win.

Why are we going after Nash after we fired D'Antoni? Also, does Lin come off the bench?

I was also thinking...we might as well bring him back. Give him another crack at it.

Exactly if we are going to be the worst defensive team in the league again we might as well maximize our offense

lin is coming back no matter what probably. I mean it will be good for both of them. Lin will be under one of the best pg's and nash can rest
