So if hes a PhD and he says that Melo is fat and stupid, he's probably right.

Bonn I was just kidding around, I actually did not really think it was you. Haha - especially when it said PhD - Melo hating? It did not fit.

You know I really enjoy our debates - I did post that to call you out - I just that it was funny. Sorry man!

But now I will take your arguments much more serious.

Eh, it's probably better not to take anything here too seriously! Sometimes I need to remember that though. I enjoy our debates too.

I graduated a top 7 law school in 1997 and made partner in 2004. Now I spend my day doing nothing - law is dead. I used to work 80 hours a week and now I am barely in the office for 40 doing practically nothing but posting on this wonderful site.

So, we are not that terrible or a match when it comes to debates

That's impressive! Right now I have a good job but it's really not that challenging. So I spend more time than I should here and on some other discussion boards.

Back to Melo: I would call myself a Melo critic not a Melo hater. Here are some numbers worth looking at (Melo's FG% by location on floor this year):

At the rim: 61.5%
3 to 9 feet: 20.8% (not a typo)
10 to 15 feet: 39.8%
16 to 23 feet: 31.0%
3 pointers: 29.1% (or an effective FG% of 44.1)

http://www.hoopdata.com/player.aspx?name=Carmelo%20Anthony

That's why I've been begging Melo to stop taking all the contested jump-shots. And note that the percentages above are for all jump-shots; I'm sure the numbers are lower for contested ones.

Even though i have been critical of melo all season this stretch the last few weeks has been impressive. this is the type of player i thought we were getting to begin with. He is shooting a much better percentage and he is using quickness for the first time. The main thing that is hurting us right now is missing lin and JJ. I think we could have won without amare but lin and jj are two important pieces that could have helped us movee out of the 7th and 8th spots

Unless he learns better shot selection, he'll continue to have great and poor stretches though. People read too much into small stretches. I remember people saying last off-season that Melo had become a vastly improved 3 point shooter because he shot over 40% as a Knick last season. It was really just the randomness you'd expect in a small sample of games, though.

That said, I do think he's better suited to the PF position on offense. He won't play like a superstar unless he learns better shot selection but I do think he'll play better than he has at SF.

Uptown wrote:I'm noticing alot of posters tossing around the word iso. Personally, I look at it as high-post ups. Back when big men actually ruled the NBA, the ball was pounded into the post every time down the court and teams would play inside out. The era of bing man no longer exists, but in this era, its the mid-range high post ups of the SF/SG's.

If anyone caught the OKC/Miami game tonite (which was one of the best games I've seen all year) you would have noticed that the second half of the 4thQ both teams took turns iso-ing (High post ups). Wade and Lebron took turns iso-ing on one end and Durant and Westbrook took turns iso-ing on the other end with a few pick and rolls sprinkled in. These two teams will most likely meet up in the finals in case anyone is keeping score. And if the Heat are knocked off, it'll be because they cant stop Rose in late game iso's.

This post was made not so much to endorse the idea of iso (high post-ups) but its a trending play league wide.

I love the opportunities that arrive from throwing the ball into the post to Melo. The problem with the 4th quarter of the indy game is that after the defense collapse on him he haf teammates WIDE open and refused to pass the ball ALA Jordan/Kobe and instead forced a terrible quintuple teamed shot.

Love the idea of post play, been calling for its return for 13yrs but just bad execution by Melo

It's got to be great that partners don't have to stay billable? I'm asking because I have no clue.

No matter, I just love America.

Well I just bought this stamp for student papers. I'm sure I'll never use it but I just had to buy it after I saw it!

Who says we're not billable The whole thing is a bit of a scam anyway. I was lucky since I did not graduate now - it is really hard to break in out of law school right now. 1n 1997 law was on fire and if you graduated from a top school you were able to pretty much write your own ticket.

Good Times

“It was mine today. They were talking some trash out there a little bit. In the moment, it’s fun times.”

Melo smiles and plays without fear.

Joy In The Garden is a beautiful thing.

The F%cking Garden erupted like a volcano twice, simply an amazing performance by Melo. His best game as a Knick.
