Riding the BiPolar Coaster of being a KNick fan.

On nite we destroy ATL and off to "THE BIGGEST GAME IN 10 YEARS" and what happens?

Somehow we hung tight in the fist half. We were losing the game even when we had a lead.

Heat defense was incredible. The speed by which they stole the ball, trapped, blocked shots got on break was awesome.

This was the benchmark for the team to see what the highwater mark is for this season.

And we might not ever reach it!

Fire the coach? Kidding me?

4 games in 5 nites is awful.

Thinking us fans know how to fix it is awesome!

Lin finally ran into a wall.

Maybe they can get some practice in.

Thank goodness Baron is not the savior. Dude looks slow.

Lebron could have had NY, could have had the world. He keeps getting faster and stronger!

Relationships.

Guarantee: All Comments Bootlegged from From the first three posts

How well you get along with people is determined largely by how they make you feel. Right now the Knicks appear to feel pretty damn good about each other. The starters bouncing off the bench to celebrate the performance of the New Minute Men was cool.

Do you feel good around a person or do you feel bad? Does that person drop 22 points on a crisp 8-14 shooting night where he takes opponents to the rack at wil?

Carmelo Anthony may make select fans resentful. They might not want to admit it. Fans might not want to admit it. Bernard King noticed it. Carmelo Anthony is unstoppable on the low block.

On some level that we can pinpoint, he commands defensive attention and adds charisma.

I won't even mention Baron, I think that one is pretty clear. The dude can flat out run an offense.

The relationship the guys have on the court, during the game. This is what suffers when Carmelo is out there.
His figure is too imposing, his presence is too strong.

It smells like team spirit out there, man. This team is kinda cool to watch.

The Answer Man Digs Carmelo In The Role of Undercover Brother/ Secret Weapon

SupremeCommander wrote:so this can in fact work then?

A. You damn skippy.

The scoring load is suddenly shared. The winning formula is six guys in double figures and 30 total assists.

Imagine if Tyson Chandler had just ONE signature low post move.

It is never too late to learn, yes?

the only thing that needs to improve is our starting five defense. amare needs to at least do what he did last year. Amare actually wasn't bad last year on the defensive end. also we need to start hitting our wide open shots in the first half

No way, no how.

We Are A Roster Of Rejects

Lin was undrafted, and dropped like third period French, by three NBA teams. In January, he was considering Euro ball as a last resort.
Fields was a second round bust waiting to happen. On draft night he was greeted by, "who da hell is dis dude?"
Carmelo, aka The Notorious B.B.S. (Big Ball Stopper) wore our his welcome in Denver and is a known malcontent only out for himself
Amar'e is hanging by a microfracture thread on fragile knees he is too proud to surrender to
Tyson Chandler was jettisoned by the world champs before he could get his ring

Baron Davis is damaged goods. He stays on injured reserve more than he is on the court.
Iman Shumpert was booed on draft night. He has no outside shot.
JR Smith is a known troublemaker and uncontrollable on the court. He caused a riot in China. An accident waiting to happen.
Steve Novak has been shuffled through 5 teams in 6 years. He is 6'10 with no position.
Jared Jeffries makes Travis Knight look like Kareem Abdul Jabbar. JJ is the most uncoordinated 6'11 person in the NBA.

Bill Walker's knees have been rebuilt more times than Joan Rivers' face.
Mike Bibby (remember him?) could not stick with the underachieving Atlanta Hawks. He should be retired.
Josh Harrellson is just an injury prone enforcer with little experience. A rookie.
Jerome Jordan is... a pine brother.

It's too perfect.

I have to respectfully disagree on that one. He was honestly the culprit on probably half the opposing teams scores. Whether he got backed down in the post, faced up and driven past, didn't help on a screen, was sleeping and got beat back door, or didnt box out and gave up the offensive board and a putback he got constantly abused because of lazy and incompetent play on defense.

MrKnickShot, look, I'll repost this from the game thread because I feel it's important, WE NEED TO GET THE FACTS STRAIGHT, PEOPLE, SO THAT WE CAN MOVE FORWARD WITH THE WHOLE PICTURE:

Fact: Since Carmelo's return, Lin has broken 20 points 1 time. Before Carmelo, Lin broke 20 points 8 times.

The chemistry has been crimped, no one can deny this. We were 8-1 without Carmelo and are now 2-3 with Carmelo.

He's a talented player but his presence is too heavy. Lin has been thrown out of the socket like an ugly woman.

I'm not bashing, this isn't bashing, but I'm recognizing a trend here. Believe me, it PAINS me to have to type these words, but someone has to take a stand. For the fans, for you and me, FOR THIS TEAM!

Its not chemistry its the fact that teams now have more tape on Lin and are able to defend him better then they were in the past. Lin needs to start working the mid range game around the Free throw line more rather then looking to get deep in the paint. Working on the pull up from around that range will open up more passing lanes. Lin needs to drive and then pull back more if he sees the paint crowded rather then trying to force the issue.

We also need to become more of a threat from down town then we are. Other then Novak nobody else is hitting there 3s to create space not even Smith. Amare seems like more of a liability in the paint then asset as he can't finish like he used to. He either is getting blocked or ends up fumbling the ball all over the place on his drives.

What Shumpert was doing when they trapped Lin was perfect though. He started putting the ball on the floor and beating Allen and Pierce off the dribble, If only he could shoot. Jr Smith needs to get those same opportunities but his shot has been off for a while now.

This isn't even getting into Lin's defense.

the problem is that our guys need to move to the ball. when lin gets trapped those guys are gonna be wide open yet some just stand far away

On the bright side we turned the ball over on a lot of stupid stupid plays. We beat ourselves more then they beat us IMO. That tech on Shump for hanging on the rim was retarded and a death blow. And we should have fouled when we were up by 3 rather then give them a 3pt look. Especially when the shot clock was down to 5-6 seconds.

How about last game when he had 19/13?

Like I responded in the Game Thread, teams will start to trap Lin high - he will have to adjust. Everything was fine until Miami exposed him a bit.

in the 8-1 stretch (nice loss to NO!!), teams were not playing him like a star. Now they are and thats the main difference.

Without Melo today, they don't stand a chance. And, Melo has been playing excellent D. I did NOT like Melo's shots in OT but without him, there is no OT.

He had 19/13 against the CAVS! And EVERYONE had crazy numbers! It was like the David Lee game when he dropped something like 40/20 against Golden State!

Overall, Jeremy Lin fell off, but the SECRET IS IN THE REASON: Swagger Jacking.

If we delayed The Return by four weeks, Lin would be in Hall of Fame discussion right now, Knicks 17-4 LIN ERA.

Melo does a lot of things well, I'm a big fan!

BUT THIS ORGANIZATION MUST MAKE A DECISION:

Carmelo or D'Antoni!!!

ONLY THEN CAN WE MOVE FORWARD!
