Linsanity (the bootleg mix tapes)

FoeDiddy - all things in time. Kvetching over the Celtics game is a game for the rear view window. Nobody saw this coming. Not even Jeremy Lin.

Randy Wittman: “We got beat off the dribble a lot. And we had fouls in reaching instead of moving our feet. They were the aggressors that had us on our heels from a defensive standpoint.”

Big DaddyG - turnover problems in college? Where did you read that? Lin was a candidate for John R. Wooden Award. Turnover problems don't get you that.

“I think it’s real,” Coach Mike D’Antoni said. “Because the thing that’s for real is his vision, which won’t change, his speed, which won’t change, his knowledge of the game, which won’t change. I think it can only get better.”

MEMO: Carmelo and Amar'e, it AIN'T your team.

"Steve Novak, who had his second straight 19-point outing, making five of nine 3-pointers. Fields is soaring on the fastbreak and finished with 16 points and eight rebounds. Iman Shumpert is back at his more comfortable position as a backup shooting guard and had 17 points with three steals."

Joy

“You can see it in all our faces,” Jeffries said. “The energy in this room, the camaraderie right now that we have, that he’s kind of unified this team.”

How many does it take to play this game the right way?

“You look around the locker room," Lin said. “The combined salaries may be not that much but these guys can play basketball. Everybody across the board. The whole team is playing with so much chemistry. The chemistry can’t come from one person. It’s a five-man game.”

Uh oh, does La LA start squeaking to Melo that Lin is dissing him and he can't allow that?

Remember, Savior/Messiahs are met with skeptics and jealousy. Who will be Lin's "Judas"?

A. La La was at the Wizards game in DC. She was holding the sign that read "Crouching Tiger Hidden Point Guard". Word on the street is that half of La La's girlfriends are trying to get Lin's digits.

A. Rumor has it that Toney Douglas was seen tampering with Lin's box lunch on the team bus

Shaq said in NBA TV last night that Lin is playing like Baby Nash. Greg Anthony also is very impressed. The Jet not so much and says about a month ago everybody was going gaga over Shumpert. The Jet gives me the vibe that he does not like the Knicks.

On ESPN, Jalen Rose is singing Jeremy Lin's praise. He thinks he can sustain this pace since Lin's game is based on PnR. Basically, the same things MDA, Clyde and Breen has been saying.

Alan Hahn really pissed me off before when he dismissed anything Lin. Don't want to hear anything he says about Lin now.

The goddess Tina Cervasio is the only member of media that recognized Lin before all this exploded.

You have to take the good with the bad. as much as i love lin he does have to sustain in before he gets univeral praise. i think he can because he fits this system so well and this system is made for a pg

Can't believe no one posted this yet:

The crowd of 17,376 made up of close to half Knicks fans let out a giant roar. One Washington insider said they never heard it louder for an opponent’s basket than when Lin dunked.

You don't have to be a basketball guru to see this kid is bonifide

The last few days have been sureal. Seems as though we've been cursed for over a decade and now this? Stories like this usually happens for the other teams, but not the Knicks. Have the basketball gods finally released the chok-hold from around the neck of our beloved franchise?

Another part of Lin's game that is so beautiful is his defense. Lin knows how to play team defense.

Kenny the jet and others like him always have to have some dissent opinion to keep a subject going. Same with all these radio talk shows and half of ESPN.

Don't matter who likes him or not, his play on the court will validate him going forward. If he does well, then he is the real deal.

He will hit a wall at some point. Expectations must be kept in check and the learning curve will be there.

But we have to also understand he SHOULD GET BETTER AND STRONGER!

He is the AntiStarphuch!

Just goes to prove Knicks don't need to get "Stars" to get excitement. You need to be prepared.

LEts hope MDA sticks and not bolt taking the kid with him.

I am very worried about this. I keep thinking about Al Pacino in "Every Given Sunday".

Funny, I was gonna reference that!

MDA gets a better offer but damn well knows he gotta take this kid with him leaving Dolan with nothing but his dick in his hand.

Dolan extends Isiah who could not win and had a lawsuit hanging over his head but MDA he can't?

Thanks for posting that video. Getting used to these Lin highlights which from one game are like highlight reals for some other pg's ;-)

I didn't see this coming. i mean i was all for giving lin a chance to start but i never knew he would put up 20 pts and at least 8 assists in his first two srarts especially with a depleted team. Yes Im sure its gonna get harder for him to do it all the time but i am glad we got this kid

The way I see it there are very few Good defensive NBA teams. Even fewer that are good at stopping PnR. The Lakers size will be a key test.

Everyday we're husaLIN, husaLIN, husaLIN
This kid is the truth. Finally, we have a true PG.
Kid is NICE! A focused, humble, hard worker, with a hi BB IQ, handle and vision.
Notice the smiles on his teammates faces and the coaches.
"Winning and grinning." Knicks are having some fun mauLIN, and balLIN
He's making everyone around him better, directing traffic, playing D,
causing turnovers, controlLIN tempo, while seriously reducing team TO's.

We've been due for a stroke of divine providence.

Enter the DRAGON....

I have a new name for my beloved Brickerbockers, the "Apple turnovers"

The Answer Man Rings In A New Year

A. Absolutely. It's about time my Dancing Harry Mardi Gras beads started working.

Uptown wrote:Seems as though we've been cursed for over a decade and now this?

A. We haven't been cursed, we've been stuck in the middle of corporate espionage and sabotage. Besides, the Houston Rockets owed us one for Sam Cassell killin' us in The Finals.

Did someone say, "The Year of The Dragon"?

Then they must've skipped over that stat for John Wall when he was nominated the same year.

Here's Hollinger write up for Lin in his player profile.

JEREMY LIN, PG
No projection | Player card

• Big, aggressive point guard who rebounds well for size and draws fouls.
• Good size but slow feet defensively. Great nose for ball and good hands.
• Drives to score; must upgrade distribution skills and decision-making.

Lin played bits and pieces of 28 games, and posted a very respectable performance, shooting poorly but making up for it with lots of free throws, a decent assist-to-turnover ratio and a shockingly high steals rate. This is not a typo -- Lin had 33 steals in 285 minutes, which translates to 4.6 per 40 minutes. He also blocked nine shots, which most point guards don't do in a full season. (Quick example: Devin Harris is the same size, played 2,254 minutes and had seven.)

In 20 D-League games, Lin showed similar skills. While his steal rate wasn't quite as phenomenal, he did average one every 15 minutes, and he showed the same strong ability to rebound the ball and get to the free throw line. However, scouts consider him erratic at the point, and you could see why in D-League -- his turnover rate was entirely too high and his distribution skills were wanting.

Despite his weaknesses, Lin's overall résumé makes him a strong candidate to take over a full-time backup point guard job this season … whether in this market or another one.

Don't get me wrong, I'm rooting for Lin and I'm hopeful he'll improve. I'm just pointing out that he's had issues with turnovers in the past. He's smart and I think he'll figure it. I'll take a few turnovers if the ball is moving and Tyson Chandler is engaged on the offensive end. Hell, I'll take anything that resembles a pointguard at this point.

Always... always remember: Less is less. More is more. More is better and twice as much is good too. Not enough is bad, and too much is never enough except when it's just about right. - The Tick
