Neither STAT nor Melo are great defensively. Not every player can defend on an elite level. It doesn't mean that they can't defend or that we won't expect them to give 100% in an effort to get stops. The thing is tho both are top 5 scorers in the league. We can certainly go after a title with those 2. The key will be how much we're able to give them help to get that done.

We're gonna need both STAT and MELO to outscore and outrebound Pierce and KG. After that things will be fairly equal and we'll have a good chance to win the series.

We won't know that for a while. We can't know that for a while. I doubt it happens this year.

I know what I read is mostly hype this week.

Im not expecting much. This team right now is incomplete and put a new coach in it is still incomplete.

That is the point.

This team is not potent enough in either way.

Mike D'antoni is responsible for getting his stars to play defense. It appears they've bought into his philosophy from an offensive perspective.

There's no reason why D'antoni shouldn't be held accountable for Stat and Melo needing to become better defensive players.

Advertisers? Got melo, got a jump in ratings

Owner? Dolan cars about defensive rating? Dolan is ca-ching'n.

GM? Reasonable man who understands his roster and its short coming.

Fans? Fans only care about winning, being entertained, having a good time.

UK type knick fans? You are a minority superfan. We are a 42 win team I don't think in current roster form much better than a 47 game winning until we get a interior Defensive 5.

Perhaps your thinking the coach can do much much better with this roster. Ok. Your call, but it seems MDA should be accountable to YOU.

No one wants to see less defensive effort, just in terms of expectations with this roster.

In a few hours we'll know whats up.

Im afraid it won't be pretty. what I hope and what I expect are two things.

Nalod, my concerns for my team are different than yours. Mine have nothing to do with marketing strategy, ratings, and revenue.

Melo has played better defensively, but it's really his personal commitment to playing harder. Mike has asked everyone to play harder and from what I saw during the 7 game streak was a team that played harder on D. That still didn't make them great, but it was enough to win games. I fully expect the Knicks to play hard on both ends in this series with Boston. I'm still waiting for you to explain to me how Mike's PHX teams got to the WCF's without playing any D? Clearly they had to play some D to get that far out West.

I hear you, but the Marketing, ratings and revenue is very relevant in the real world.
Its why Dolan didn't want him in Brooklyn.
