the problem is this team shoots that many 3's regardless if they're making them or not... no one wants us to stop shooting 3's when they're falling but when they're not shooting well from distance in games (& it's happened several times this year) i would like this team to be able to establish the PnR game & focus on getting stops rather than taking the lazy way out & shooting up 3 pointers from all over the court, banking the game on taking & making a high % of 3 pointers is a terrible strategy to win games... for tonight it worked & it was fun as hell to see TD tying the record i'm not unhappy we won but i've seen this team lose all too many games by going cold shooting the 3's this season & no adjustments being made to alter the offensive strategy.
TMS, I see a lot of teams pack the paint against us and daring us to shoot the 3. When you have two dominant post players on the team that is absolutely to be expected. It is also obvious that these guys haven't jelled enough to really execute the PnR well. We saw the same thing with the pre-trade team, it took multiple weeks before they could execute the PnR well. While that is still work in progress and teams are basically daring us to shoot from outside there really isn't a whole lot else we can do. You can let Melo play iso and that will be taking three steps back in my opinion, because the offense will grind to a halt. If we had decent 3pt shooters and could make opps respect our perimieter game, the Pnr would be sooo much easier. MDA coaches a balance between the two, but I think its wrong to suggest he needs to ask guys to stop taking wide open three pointers if they are not falling on a given night.
