you said Durant was better than Melo in a variety of categories... other than 3 pt shooting i don't see any... i hardly consider averaging .7 made FT per game is enough reason to even point that out as a factor in this discussion... people have made the argument that he's a clearly superior defender than Melo as well... sorry, i just don't see that either... dude is nowhere to be seen on defense.

agree... perfect fit for what our needs are in the frontcourt... he's like a young Antonio Davis.

Haver to agree with this, not sure why he gets so much love for his defense. At least right now he is a no show on that side of the ball. And Melo is probably the better scorer as well.

he plays more like Jamal Crawford on defense than Tayshaun Prince.

I was just explaining my point of view. If you agreed with the claims, then you would see it; you just don't agree, which is no problem for me. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Personally, I don't think Durant is a superior defender. I think he's decent on defense and generally not a liability, IMHO. In Melo's case, I will say at times, he is flat out lazy on defense and can be a liability when he's not engaged. It's not that he's not talented on the defensive end, he's just not engaged sometimes. Would that change in NY? We've lost that bet before, so who knows?

On the flipside, one thing I do like about Carmelo is he is a very good rebounder. I do imagine if we had a team with a rebounding center + Carmelo + Fields + Amar'e. We should win on the boards almost every night.

agreed that Melo gets lazy on D... but i've seen him play very good defense when he wants to, especially in that WCF series vs Kobe he impresed the hell out of me cuz i always had the same image of him that the rest of you do about him being a horrible defender... that's not to say i think he's a good defender, i realize he's not, but it's funny when i hear people say Durant is so much better than him & point out his defense as 1 of the reasons... Durant can't even stop Gallo from scoring on him 1 on 1 & has left him wide open behind the 3 pt arc on numerous possessions in this game alone... he's a floater on defense too.

MAN do we need a rebounder! That's the one thing that always seems to stand out in our games. We just don't have that tenacious rebounder that is always on the ball!!! We give teams a TON of second chances.
