I don't think it's far fetched to assume that he's garbage.

Seeing him or not.

Bet ya when I see him my opinion of him will get WORSE. If that's possible. Yeah, it's probably possible.

Come'on now.

Nothing to defend here everything to BASH. THREE YEARS for some hack we've never seen? That nobody has ever seen? I can imagine Sloth from Goonies stepping out onto the court.....

Lol... you been drinkin? I been working on my liquor cabinet tonite... somehow, my fiancee is sleeping and I am here with a spreadsheet open talking about some 7'1 russo and trying to figure out why you dislike him so much. Did he delonte west you or something?

You got me. I am ripped.

Yet even if I were sober.......there is no way I'd be as ecstatic about signing some gigantic pituitary gland factory from Russia as some are.

What is going on here I won't ever understand.

Yet it seems suddenly this guy is a fan favorite destined for stardom who will lift the lowly Knicks to NBA finals contention... or well, something. Although, that is probably the case of beer and bottle of tequila I destroyed with my neighbor tonight talking.

Still, the idea stands: WHO THE HELL? WHY ARE YOU GUYS SO HIGH ON THIS WORTHLESS MEAT BAG?

Wow... we're reduced to this, huh, being excited about someone that probably can't even add 1+1.

Great. I feel good now. Knicks 2011 champs!

Nobody is calling him the next Biedrins even (DISCLAIMER-- THIS KID IS THE NEXT BIEDRINS!!!!)--- lol... just saying $3m doesn't seem like so much for a 7'1 Drago.

Notice how Cosmic never answers the posts that make sense (like mine) and instead repeats himself over and over, then throws in lame stuff like us calling him a fan favorite and leading us to the NBA Finals? Eventually posters just give up and move on. It's a theme. Cosmic never fails. Guy is the Jamal Crawford of posters.

don't insult jamal like that. this dude is the vin baker of posters. just a drunk poster.

Anybody want to say Rasha Nesterovich

If Maciej Lampe kept Mozgov on the bench in Russia, I'm not holding my breath.

I have said before , danphoney wants international players with a docile personality , to make it easier for him to coach them.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

It’s doubtful that Khimki would look to sell his rights this summer considering how valuable his domestic passport is to them. Russian league rules state that two local players must be on the court at all time.

This is weird, along with the considerably big and long contract to an unknown euro free agent.

That really sucks and is surprising. It's hard to imagine the Knicks would use their cap space to get someone who won't be here for three years

I think they paid his team $500 G for him- so they did buy out his contract.

I think you're right but the way the OP's source worded the deal is confusing. It says the Knicks paid Kimki $500K but doesn't say why. I guess it must be for a buyout, though.

Mozgov possesses little in the ways of touch, post-moves, dribbling ability, footwork or any of the other skill-based attributes that most big men need in order to be effective at the highest level of competition. He’s not terribly coordinated, often looking like a bull in a china shop trying to execute advanced moves, thus being fairly turnover prone. While he gets to the free throw line at a solid rate, he only converts around 50% of his attempts, and is obviously incredibly limited when asked to do anything offensively outside of the paint. No one is going to confuse his passing ability or basketball IQ with that of Arvydas Sabonis anytime soon.

Especially liked this part of the evaluation.

Sure doesn't seem like the same GM that messed up drafts and missed out on trades for the past three years. I'll say that.

Sounds like a big Milsap, which I guess Mbenga is... Not a bad fit for certain game situations ie playing Orlando or Boston.

I agree... maybe I'm reaching here, but I think Donnie has figured out who to trust and who to dismiss within the regime. While I am a fan of his patience perhaps he was a bit too trusting when he came in. Who knows, maybe screwing up the Jennings pick was what the franchise needed to move forward

Its very strange. Clearly they are doing something better all of the sudden. They aren't listening to Isiah because he would have drafted Warren, but then signed Felton to 5 years with a trade kicker.

You wonder if they've been handicapped by needing to draft LeBonplimentary
Players
and that was the hold-up in Donnie's last two drafts.

If you can believe the comments that came out of the LeBron meeting- the Knicks told him that the things they had done in the past 2 years were with him in mind.

He's probably somewhat similar to Fasenko--if you notice he gets off the ground a lot better than Rasho probably not as skilled with the J. But we got him to be a 7+ banger who has some upside at his age.

He sure doesn't shy away from contact! A good trait for playing in the NBA.

I also like the play at 1:00 when he spins to the left and puts the ball in with his left hand. Inside players who can put the ball in with either hand become much more productive.

He's big, strong and can move. That's a nice combination. I'd love to see him on our summer league team, but I don't expect there's much chance of that happening.

How about "Timaaay", South Park style.

The new new core: Randle, RJ, IQ. Maybe Mitch. Future pick. Future trade. Future FA.

It amazes me how so many open minded people can have such strong opinions(good or bad) about a guy that they've never seen play.
I just hope that people will like me

Exactly. Fans with this mindset were also bashing the Gallo pick and so far, that has turned out pretty well.

Absolutely love the off-season we're having so far. Our front-court is pretty stacked right now with long and athletic guys that can be rotated easily to have fresh legs in there at all times.

After 2 years, MDA finally has some pieces that fit his system and I'm very excited to see this team take the floor. I still think we could use another lethal shooter but we have addressed so many problem areas this off-season that I'm confident this roster will only get better with time (and as we accumulate more assets).

And for those complaining about the cap, are you kidding me? Even if we are $1-2 million shy right now of offering a max (which I honestly haven't even checked the numbers because it's still ridiculously early to talk about 2011 cap space), did you guys not see how teams like Chicago and Miami were willing to clear up significant cap space at the last minute? After what Donnie and other GMs have shown in the 2010 sweepstakes, how can you possibly believe that Walsh will not have enough cap to make a play for Melo? Guess what, if he's short a few million, he will clear it. As we've seen recently, it can be done pretty quickly (go ask Pat the Rat).

Actually "Mozg" in Russian means "brain".
Looks like this thing is in short supply on the forum, but "Dlinnij Jazik" meaning "talk too much" is widely available.

He looks very raw to the NBA game in those clips. No defenders bodying up on him, no need to play back to the basket on offense. No boxing out on D. He's like a 7' slasher. Could take a while before he understands where to even stand on the floor for the NBA game.

But he does look like an big able body to have near the hoop when his defender gets caught off guard.

He looks pretty uncoordinated. And this is somewhat of a highlight clip against smaller and less skilled opponents than he'll face in the NBA. I hope DW and MDA saw something else, because I'm not even sure he's going to be a worthy back up...and for 3 million..

and per the draftexpress he seems to be a pretty dumb player as well. I think at least this season he's gonna be one of those guys that fouls 3x in 5 minutes and sits the rest of the way.

I think that's fair. We do need to see hat he can do with a functional roster first. But he will be watched closely. I am just not sold on Mark Jackson t all. He has never coached anywhere and the last ting we need is another experiment.

Here is some more info from people at an International forum:

I dont know the details of the deal, but he might just be a terrific fit for Knicks..
He is big (7´1 ) and is really athletic and runs the floor particuralry well.. He is also a very nice shotblocker. His offense is still pretty raw and his BBIQ is also not one of the highest..

Still a decent signing i suppose if it is not in some crazy 20ish million territory

I think he'll be a good signing due to his athleticism and the fact that he will play in a quick pace offense. Don't expect too much from him except pick and rolls and alley oops.
