Fields reminds me of Doug Christie, without the hand gestures.

I think tomorrow--you let Jerome jordan play 30+ minutes and demand a smarter tougher effort. If he plays harder and sets up lower and goes up stronger--perhaps we see a different outcome. He just didnt have the smarts strength or motor. But this is not a small man--he needs to go out there and leverage his length. Phil Jackson almost always starts the game with 2-3 post plays. Thats what i would do with JJ tomorrow--go to him and say this is what was wrong and we need you to play sharper smarter and tougher--be the big man out there. He was picking but wasnt rolling. If he gets near the basket I think he can connect--and I think he needs to pursue rebounds and keep his ground instead of leaving his feet on the D. I want to see him give better effort tomorrow and I want to see the Knicks let him go and focus on getting him the ball--if he focuses on getting strong position and playing harder.

What did people think of Rautins? He's kinda like a mini Gallo in terms of skill-set.

I don't think he's going to look right until he gets to play in a more organized regular season game. Good to see him get a few steals. That was one of his strengths at 'cuse. He nailed all the open treys he had, which is all he'd be asked to do in a real game. Problem is that he didn't even try to get by anyone, which is probably because he can't.

What happened to Garcia? Did we lose him to another team? Probably a smart move by his agent with all of our bigs.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

I think we might get another real point guard in a trade, with guys like Chandler and Douglas being available. We'll see what happens because while we seem to be set, it does seem like we are stockpiling assets for a big trade, either soon or in the trading deadline.

Well if it was my job and that job was based on W+L this year-- Shaun Livingston would be a knick tomorrow. Also Im not married to any of these 2nd rounders if I see something out there I like better that is unrestricted.

pretty much agree.. fields looks fluid and athletic, but so far, and it is one game, but he and rautins look like second rounders... Livingston would be a great pickup... thenyou can play him and felton and he and douglas and not suffer with height in the backcourt..

Honestly, I was impressed with our draft picks during the game. Rautins looks like he has the potential to be a solid 3pt specialist. He certainly can hit the 3 ball, and he looked to be a very solid passer and decent defender. I would like to see the Knicks try him out at PG. While some people here have commented that he has no pg skills, I disagree. The kid made some very instinctive passes during the game, and he was not being asked to be a PG. I would like him play a game or two at the point position and see how he handles it. I am not sure if his handles are up to the challenge, but I think he has enough passing instincts that it is worth exploring.

Fields really surprised me with his play. You could tell he had four years of college. He had a good understanding of what he could do and for the most part, just played his game. He has a good motor and is a better defender than I thought he would be. He still has a lot of work ahead, but in a year or so, he could be a rotation player.

Jordan did not look great, but we all knew he was going to be a project. It will be a year or so before we know if that kid has any real future as an NBA center.

Overall, I think the Knicks picked up two guys in Fields and Rautins who could turn into good rotation players in a year.

Fields looked like he could play to me. Ewing Jr. and Garcia were there but got no PT. Jerome Jordan looks like he has good size and athleticism but he's basically lost out there. Very raw.

Man I really wanted to draft Ty Lawson...

Holiday/Jennings/Lawson/Collison would all have been nice.

I'm partial to Holiday, but any of these 4 can handle the job.

Jordan didn't look that good at all. Fields showed some nice moves. I like how he can shoot off the dribble in the midrange.

Walker looked pretty decent. He can get to the hoop at will, and hopefully his weight loss lifts him to a new level.

Douglas I like a lot, but he's no PG yet. He's a great 6th man combo guard though. I can see him playing a Barbosa like role to be honest.

I agree ....
Jerome Jordan looked like Jordan Hill in SL last year. Lost. Didn't know the system; wasn't setting good picks; not aggressive. But it is just the first game and this was the 3rd game for the SL Nuggets, so they are more cohesive. Coby Karl, Geo Karl's son played well for them.

Watched the Summer League game last night on Summer League Broadband. Here are some of my observations.

Douglas - Clearly a SG in a PG's body. Now I see why we signed Felton.

Jerome Jordan - This guy is getting ZERO burn this year. The guys legs look like tooth picks. He needs to get WAY stronger to hand in the NBA.

Landry - Guy seems solid. Doubt he gets much burn this year though.

Rautins - Good 3 point shooter but I doubt he can defend NBA caliber PG's. Im thinking Roberson 2.0

Walker - LOL at this guy pulling a Q-Rich and losing 25 pounds in 6 weeks for his contract year. I wouldnt pay him next summer on principle alone . If you can lose 25 pounds that tells me you were carrying way too much weight. He looked ok but I expect him to play the young Q-Rich role this year.

I know it was only one summer league game but Im not impressed by anyone.

BTW, Lawson is NASTY. I cannot believe I slept on this guy.

I want to see someone get in Jerome Jordan grill right away and tell him to play harder and smarter--hes a 4 year guy--he's got nice length and touch at the basket--I want 33 minutes 15 points 8 rebounds and 2 blocks today--more effort and results dont girlie the guy get in his grill and tell him what we expect.

Garcia was there- I saw him standing on the sideline once. I wonder if they get playing time in the games based on what they are showing in the practices?

His motor has always been a criticism. He seemed tentative out there though- not comfortable- hopefully with time he will become more assertive. Don't know why they did not dump the ball into him early on and get him more involved.

I love Douglas as a scorer and defender- I think we are seeing his limitations as a PG. Hope he comes out like a PG today- in my mind he has proven that he can be a scorer in the NBA. I would be happy if he didn't take a single jumper today, and just worked on his driving and dishing.

Found some info bout the team and a clip of the players talking.. They seem pretty pumped for the summer league but only the outcomes will tell..

I don't think there will be a problem unless somebody wants to make a problem, ... If they really want to make a problem, they're going to have to make a decision about how they want to spend their adult life in terms of playing in the NBA or not.

Was thinking the same thing...just take his green light layup or pass only.

Rautins just fell asleep on a back door.

Jordan seems much more active today. Took that 5 Hour Energy Drink at the right time today.

Big Ewing watching baby Ewing with John Thompson on his side.

Did not know that Darryl Strawberry had a kid playing.

At least at this point, with 6 minutes left in the 1st, Douglas has attempted to play more like a PG- No jumpers at this point beyond 7 feet.

Baby Ewing has a jumper now- just like he showed earlier with Orlando.

Epic game.

In the game or just on the bench? Hahn said he wouldn't be in summer league.
