Now they're saying Chitowns outta the running for TMAC. Man, this is nuts.

The Knicks and Rockets are still haggling over draft picks in their talks regarding Tracy McGrady. The Knicks have not yet agreed to give Houston two first-round picks (2011, 2012). Houston not only wants the two picks, but they want one of the picks to be unprotected (with the other pick, the Rockets would have the right to swap). If the Knicks agree to give both picks, the level of protection will still be an issue.

Sources say the Bulls' chances of getting McGrady are slim, but not yet completely dead.

Houston is trying to charge the Knicks a steep price for taking on Jared Jeffries.

Morey is trying to rape the desperate Knicks. I think Walsh will cave eventually.

Without the Bulls, we are not competing with anyone for getting TMac. We don't have to give Houston all those picks. We can withdraw our offer and Houston will come begging to us to complete a deal with toned down demands.

Especially now with the Cavs getting Jamison, LeBron is much less likely to come here this summer. Maybe 2011, in which case we can just let Jeffries and Curry salaries expire.

wasn't Salmons in the original Bulls offer for TMac? if he's off the table, Morey has even less leverage.

for the record: if we get lottery protection on the 2011 pick swap AND the 2012 pick, this trade becomes a no-brainer. is it a steep price? yes. will antawn jamison be 35 next year? and will shaq be 40? yes.

why does a protected 2012 pick even matter to NYK/Walsh... if we get 2 Max players?, surely we wont be lottery bound anyway! I guess its the "principalities smokey"

i don't mind the draftpick swapping, but i do mind it now that no other team was required to give them in there deals with the rockets. if that's the case, then no don't do the deal. houston will keep tmac and sit him the rest of the year i think.

it sounds to me like the trade is imminent at this point.

we mine as well throw Gallo & Wilson into the trade too, i mean neither of those guys will get many shot attempts anyway once we sign Lebron & Wade this summer.

Donnie has spent the last two years going all in to dump salary for 2010.

Not removing Jared Jeffries contract (and even Jordan Hills 3M to be honest at the same time) would be a failure for us.

We need 35M in cap space. We don't do this deal we have 25M cap space. Not enough to make a summer splash.

We wouldn't have enough cap space to entice more than one big name free agent. Most big name free agents wouldn't come here alone. One max free agent means David Lee walks (which, well, I wouldn't cry but you see where I'm going with this. If you can tell one big name free agent you can pair him with a second big time free agent - you stand a very good chance to land both as opposed to a slim chance to land only one.

Adding an average FA to this core does not make us a good team and then we'd be capped again and be just good enough to have a bad 2011 pick.

If we do this deal and we maximize our flexibility and make a splash this summer the 2011 draft pick swap will not happen (houston isnt very good take a look for yourselves) and the 2012 pick would be rather weak by the time we got there.

And that's pretty much all I got left to say on this topic and why it's imperative to do this deal.

Yeah.. why not? lol.... Cmon nowwwww.... Im not saying a pick isnt valued, but sheesh, I think it shouldnt be a sticking point.

LeBron, IMO, is NOT coming here in 2010. Cavs just signed Jamison. Wait til 2011 when Curry and Jeffries contracts expire and do NOT do this trade for TMac!!! If u really want TMac, he will be available this summer.

this trade isnt about TMAC as much about creating more cap space for 2 max free agents. wait until 2011? then what??? if lebrons not coming in 2010, what makes anyone believe that another allstar would come to NYK in 2011??? we'd be at the same impasse... go all in, we've been sold on 2010... This is the time to take the gamble!

IMO, to be a championship team, you need to have one of only a few superstars in the league. (and of course, good supporting players). But the key is the top franchise player.

Right now, they are:
Kobe
LeBron
Wade

If we can't get one of these guys, then we need more stars at many positions and a larger supporting cast. And we need 1st round draft picks to get some good young players.
Joe Johnson and Bosh are not going to win a championship.

Hell I ain't getting any younger! If not 2010 then 2011 then 2012 then 2015 then 2020. later for that waiting game. We either do it now or never. Because we keep saying the same old thing every year.
