But why are you comparing Kidd to Marbury

Because you implied that it was coincidence that the Nets improved right after trading Marbury for Kidd.

and it wasn't. Marbury has an awful reputation, and Kidd is a better ballplayer.

all the way from sect 416...i'll chime in because this is the biggest news in eons.

our team barring anything else happening

c mutumbo/doleac
pf thomas/harrington
sf van horn/shanderson
sg houston/penny
pg marbury/fwill/moochie

that's 11 deep. sweetney and the polish 7-2 guy and a roster spot to sign thomas' project leon smith.

on paper it looks great. we just need to go 27-20 to finish the year at 500. not an unreasonable task considering we really should be a couple up in the wins colum - indy and orlando come to mind.

marbury can and should be major star here. all the fire of sprewell in a pg, can make the big shot. his dribble penetration should open up both houston and van horn. then there is the possible downside - he's back home with lots of hometown troubles to be found. it could be a disaster for somebody with a contract that long. did we give up too much with youth and picks? maybe, but no one was beating down the door to let us change the team either. (unless you believe veceys wallace trade from sunday's post) it seems as though we have direction and a leader in zeke. i say run with it. it will make my nights in the bleeders that much more fun.

can't wait for the return of jvg and the debut of marbury on thurs nite. wait a minute - we upstaged another return...pretty sneaky zeke.

Bootsy: The knicks got exponentially better by this trade. There is no way (other than the salary cap) this trade is going to hurt us for the next 5 years. Just watch and have some faith. I gaurantee a Knick playoff series victory.

All that didn't believe in Isaiah Thomas looks like a DAMNED IDIOT now! Yeah baby! NBA EXEC OF THE YEAR. Anyone who was Pro-Laydown, can SUCK ON THIS!!! LMAO LOLLOOLOLOLOL

Funny, it seems one can't like Lampe, Milos, or draft picks without being a Layden fan?

NBA exec of the year? It looks like a very "Laydenesque" move to me.

They are unloading nearly $150 million in obligations. Including the players they're getting back, they'll save about $100 million in salary.

In trading Marbury, the Suns are getting rid of contractual obligations that total nearly $105 million over six seasons, counting the current one. The club signed Marbury to a four-year extension just before the season started.

The Suns also are getting rid of Hardaway's contract, one which they have been trying to dump for years. That contract will cost them $43.9 million over the next three seasons, counting this one.

Looks like Kobe going to the land of the rising sun.

WE are in Cap hell. Forget free agents, forget that all the great players in the league came from the draft, and we gave our next two picks.

Laydog usually made one half of a trade, but never completed the others.

I do hope in time this one makes sense when all the moves are completed, but from a growth standpoint, and financially.

Dolan did it again!

You always trade whatever you have to if you can get a legit superstar without giving up one. There just aren't that many perennial all stars. And no team will ever win a championship w/o one. Marbury's a legit talent. This was a great move!

Will Milos or Lampe make us regret it in a few years? Possible, but unlikely. They may become good NBA players, but what are the odds of them becoming great? It's comparatively easy to come up with role players and marginal, almost all stars (Knicks already have a bunch ... the rest of their starting five, actually). But these guys don't win enough games for you in the 4th quarter w/o a superstar to lead them. W/ Marbury, we've got a chance.

Sure, despite his tremendous talent, he's got some warts. He doesn't seem to be the best teammate or the nicest guy. But he's not a selfish player. He gets 8 APG for his career. Aren't many points who do that. He'll be happy to pass to H20, Kurt and even KVH for open jumpers, because they'll hit them. Man ... I love the thought of him running the pick and roll w/ Thomas. Kurt's going to wide open 15 foot looks, or Marbury will get layups.

Go NY, Go NY, Go!

The thing I like about this deal... for the short term, we get someone who can close out games. Houston and Van Horn aren't those players.

I bitched about .500 too but now the best player on the court, night in and night out will be wearing a knick uniform. We got this man!
Let them play a game and watch them just explode. I think they will get to .500 a lot quicker with stephon, dont you? We are going deep into the playoffs!

this is the same old bs. nothing has changed. the knicks have traded away most of their young players AND two first round picks AND they will trade a promising young point guard - Williams or le- t him rot on the bench. the knicks may make the playoffs which is all dolan cares about but they will not win a championship.

Listen there is NO question NY is a better team today. Marbury is now the focus of this team. H20 and KVh can play off of him, which they will do well because that is the role they are mor comfotable with.

I think there is another move coming. It will either be Artest or Wallace. KVh is the bait along with Fwill, Norris and Sweets. Thomas will sign CBA guys to fill out the roster then.

OHHHHHHHH MY WE GOT Starbury! Penny's game better get revived in NY, because if he can't roll up second stringers in the east this trade will look bad for us. I know steph is gonna bring it and most postas are just happy because we have a "TRUE NY" point guard running the show. I like when Frank and Starbury will be on the court at the same time it could get real stupid for opposing teams. Now KVH Houston should be unstoppable from outside, everybody's eyes will be on Starbury. I hope his homeies don't interfere with his balling in any way. But we gave up a lot of potential, and only brought back 1 guarantee. Time will tell.....IF WE HAVE GOOD CHEMISTRY NOW. Zeke ain't no joke! LOL

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Funny, it seems one can't like Lampe, Milos, or draft picks without being a Layden fan?

I said nothing about draft picks being associated with LayDown. However, Lampe and Milos were LayDown acquisitions that we'd have to sit around and wait for to develop. Neither of them ever played in the NBA prior to being drafted. One was too raw to even crack the rotation, and the other has yet to step foot in this country! Who in their right mind was a fan of that??

NBA exec of the year? It looks like a very "Laydenesque" move to me.
LMAO Trying to associate a move like this with LayDown shows how much of a fan you still are of his. LOL Isaiah Thomas has done more in two weeks to improve this team that your boy LayDown did in his entire tenure in NY. Zeke has brains and Balls, LayDown didn't. Don't get such obvious facts twisted.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Are you guys f'in morons? That trade was great.

Upsides:

Ward & Eisley sucked. No question. Marbury would be 10x better than them on his worst day.

McDyess would never get back to near his prime (which wasnt all that anyway). He's def gonna get injured again and Pheonix will be in deep ****.

Vujanic and Lampe? All maybe's. Vujanic isnt doing spectacular in a European league and once he comes to NBA you expect him to do better? Marbury w/Eisely and maybe Moochie are better. Lampe? That kid sucked. No defense, poor shot, can't use his weight to rebound. Sure, in 3-4 years he could be decent, but we cant wait that long.

Draft picks? Tell me the last time the knicks used a draft pick. They didnt. Theyre only good picks were Ewing and M Jackson. Plus Knicks wouldve prob gotten a **** draft pick between 12 and 17 again.

Downsides:

Marbury is great, but i dont see him changing the team like Kidd did to Nets. Might be a ball hog, etc.

Penny's past prime but should be good bench support.

Um, are you an f'in moron?

I'm not against this trade, but it's waaay too early to tell if it's a great trade or not.

It depends on what Isiah gets for Frank Williams, and whether they make the playoffs.
