Mobley is not getting traded. The Knicks want his contract for salary relief of their own.

it's good thing we raised Fishlips' trade value so much this year, otherwise we might have had to include Gallo in this deal too

I'd make a trade for the chance to clear FishLips but damn this new scenario has us giving up an awful lot just to accomplish that.

Bulls or the Knicks. New York is offering any of it players on expiring deals, but the Knicks also are awaiting word from the league office on whether they'll get salary cap relief for Cuttino Mobley's $9.9 million contract. If that relief is denied, and the Knicks learn that before 3 p.m. Thursday, his insurance-covered contract becomes a trade chip.

if this trade is true, it basically creates $10M in cap room this summer with hill and jeffries off the books. i'm not a huge fan of giving up on hill, but if he is the difference between offering two max contracts then i say adios, jordan.

seriously. this gives donnie the power to sign wade and lebron. or bosh and lebron. or wade and bosh. seriously, there is not a thing wrong with this trade.

but with that type of cap room, the knicks can re-tool big time...but what a waste of time discussing guys like gallo, chandler, hill and lee when all of them may be gone within 18 months...

Why do those guys have to go if we sign two max players? Gallo, Chandler and Lee are all complimentary players anyway and would fit perfectly next to a star player ot 2.

b/c next year...the knicks become win now...no time for developing young players.

david lee is a 20ppg 12rpg all-star, gallo and wilson are 2nd/3rd year players putting up 15ppg 5rpg. they're still improving, but they've developed pretty well.

Lee is already developed. Chandler is a 3rd year player and according to some here has already hit his ceiling and Gallo will be enerting his third year. The Cavs have a legit shot at winning it all with JJ Hickson at the 4.

What if the Knicks only sign 1 Max or say sign Rudy Gay and Carlos Boozer do you still like the trade after giving up all of that future.

I hope that this trade includes Hill, Hughes, and Jeffries as opposed to Al Harrington for TMac, Dorsey and Cook. If it does, then maybe we can flip Harrington to Chicago for Tyrus Thomas and Jerome James.

Agree totally. If you want to get serious about trying to build a Championship team you have to go all the way on it and move unproven talent to have a chance at proven talent. I like Hill, but for us, the chance to be able to land two big talents makes it a no brainer for me. You never know what a difference it makes when you can say to a Wade, hey I know you don't love NY, but just imagine playing here with Bosh! That's the kind of thing that changes the equation. Even Bosh would have to admit that at team with those two at the core is better than what he has in Toronto.

How do you think it would impact Lebron to have the chance to play with Bosh as his bigman sidekick? It just changes the equation.

I think we can all agree that the inclusion of the picks is a bit much. But if Hill is the only future piece we are sacrificing, I cant argue with the deal if JJ is included.

agree very much on this one. if tyrus is out there to take a look at and re-sign on the cheap, i'd LOVE to take a flier on him.

We don't just need better top players, but also some toughness to the roster overall. The top players generally are solid both ways, but we need to surround them with tough players who can help to make our defense stout. Taking a flyer on Tyrus Thomas would help to add more defensive help to the roster.

this isn't just Jordan Hill that's being thrown into this deal, you're talking about adding a future 1st round pick and exchanging draft positioning in 2011, which unless we're getting some big time star players this offseason will most likely end up being yet another lottery pick we throw away... so in essence you're talking about 3 potential lottery picks in exchange just for the cap space to sign players who we don't even know if they'd want to come here in the first place... that's a pretty irresponsible risk to take... i'm all for dumping Fishlips' contract & would include a future pick to do so, but adding in 2 other young assets on top of it is just stupid regardless of how much cap space it gives us this summer.
