Change in Team Outlook: +25.5 ppg, +9.5 rpg, and +2.9 apg.
Incoming Players
Eddy Curry
Al Harrington
Nate Robinson
Wilson Chandler

Outgoing Players
Ray Allen
Brian Scalabrine
Eddie House

I think this is an nice trade for both teams. Yes it sucks to take on Curry's salary but the Celtics have a very small window and this allows it to stay open.

They go from having no depth to one of the deeper teams in the league and this gives them a better chance to beat the CAVs. Chandler is added to their core of Rondo and Perkins. Nate has also proven to be a very tough cover for the Cavs.

Rondo-Nate
Pierce-Daniels
Chandler-Harrington
Garnett-Big Baby
Perkins

You aren't really losing much with Ray Allen you are getting better defensively and longer in the starting lineup and have two big time bench scorers. We don't need McGardy we just need cap room.

Duhon
Allen
Gallo
Lee
Hill

Take your lumps and maybe you can resign Allen as a role player for cheap and hopefully the celtics have enough in the trade to take out the cavs.

trading for eddy curry is basically trading for a guy that will never play for you.

terrible deal for the celtics b/c ray's expiring can yield a player 10X better than harrington + nate combined.

marquis daniels is back so they don't need nate/harrington off the bench. they need a starting SG.

Chandler is the key player in the deal for them.

So you get a young budding small foward to plug into your lineup and Eddy Currys contract to trade next season for another player. The Celtics need to maintain there youth.

Obviously if they can get Butler/Haywood that's a stronger deal. But there aren't a lot of quaity players out there. Philly isn't giving you iggy and sammy for ray allen. monte ellis? Kevin Martin?

Just in case the Knicks management is reading, the trade to make is this:

Houston trades:
McGrady
Lowry
1st round pick

Houston receives:
Caron Butler
Brendon Haywood
Chris Duhon

Washington trades:
Caron Butler
Brendon Haywood

Washingtron receives:
Al Harrington
Larry hughes
1st Round pick (From houston)

New York trades
Al Harrington
Larry Hughes
Chris Duhon

New York Receives:
Tracy McGrady
Kyle Lowry

We then start Lowry and McGrady in the backcourt.

why on earth would Houston downgrade from Lowry to Duhon? Houston doesn't need to give up more to us in that trade, they need to give more to Washington.

The Boston Celtics are discussing a deal with the Washington Wizards for forwards Antawn Jamison and Caron Butler, league sources told Yahoo! Sports on Friday.

The proposed deal would send the expiring contracts of Ray Allen, Brian Scalabrine and J.R. Giddens to the Wizards.

An actual trade is not yet imminent, but it represents the bold thinking of Danny Ainge ahead of the deadline.

The teams are expected to continue discussing the deal on Friday and throughout All-Star weekend.

That would actually make them the favorites. Washington really is just looking to give players away. Too bad we can't get involved and steal some talent away...

Knicks president Donnie Walsh said a misperception exists that his interest in the Rockets' Tracy McGrady is solely as a rental to inject life into a dying season.

"There's reasons other than that," Walsh told The Post.

Walsh declined to specify, but a source said the Knicks would like to see if McGrady is someone to consider re-signing in July. At least they'd have a fallback candidate if McGrady excels and they are unable to land one of the top free agents, LeBron James or Dwyane Wade.

The other four top free-agent candidates are Joe Johnson, Chris Bosh, Carlos Boozer and Amar'e Stoudemire. McGrady once was considered in those players' class before microfracture surgery on his left knee last year.

"I think he's a very good player," Walsh said. "The microfracture surgery is a concern for everybody. But he's a good player. . . . I've been realistic about these first two years and I'm not doing this for immediate satisfaction."

If he's got any gas in the tank we will win a lot more games. We need a finisher

This is not 2003. Tracy McGrady is just an expiring contract. I'm willing to bet he can't help a team more than Al Harrington.

I'm already looking forward to NEXT year's trading deadline when the Knicks can dangle Curry and Jefferies contracts. They should use that as a selling point...oh btw Lebron/Wade we have some fatty expirings we can use to get you some midseason help for an established veteran..low priced role players..draft picks...

Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

Because Lowry is coming up on his 3rd or 4th year and Houston will have to pay him. Brooks is their starter. They can pay Duhon $1-$2 mill next year to play there. Lowry is going to want more. Besides, we have to be enticed to make the deal. Houston is getting an upgrade at SF and a solid center to replace Yao this season and back him up next year. Maybe we also send them $3 mill and a second round pick, but I would ask for Lowry and I think they would part with him.

What are we going to get in return for Curry? Teams that are going to want him and Jefferies will be teams that want to dump unwanted salary. Those two guys are most valueable either for netting us an expiring this season, or for just coming off of our books next season.

That's something no one ever really seems to bring up. There are a lot of team out there that maybe losing next season and want to go in another direction.

Who knows what the Suns will do with steve nash next season or what the warriors will want to move, etc. there are some pretty good players out there at this year. Teams are giving good players away for salary cap relief.

We would be in business if we had a lottery pick this season. Thanks Isiah.

I don't see what's not to like about acquiring Tracy McGrady. (1) we consolidate roster spaces and get more PT to Gallo/Chandler/Douglas/Hill. (2) we need a playmaker. (3) we get to see if plan C looks decent in orange and blue--it's like getting free stock options.

Forget the rest of this year & the playoffs for a second. We've dug ourselves too deep a hole here to even think about that anymore. Walsh is even saying now that acquiring McGrady isn't all about the rest of this year necessarily...Maybe Donnie might want to bring T-Mac here & use the final 30-something games to see what the man has left. If he shows he's nothing more than Penny Hardaway (the Knicks version), he's an expiring contract and he's gone. No harm, no foul. But if he shows he's healthy and has a lot of basketball left in him, it might boil down to LeBron's decision when the time comes -- who do you want more 'Bron, T-Mac or D' Lee? As of right now, I don't see enough cap space for Lebron, Tracy McGrady AND Lee -- not unless they moved Jeffries & even then it may not be possible -- so Donnie might leave it up to LeBron to decide. Not a bad negotiating tactic if you think about it. Pick your all-star wingman.. Hey, right now we don't know anything about the current McGrady really. Yeah he's working out with his trainer but is he really healthy?? Can he still play at a high level? I tell you what, if the answer's yes, LeBron James/Tracy McGrady wouldn't be a bad 1-2 man. Not at all..

Thoughts?

next year's trading deadline will be dead as the lockout will be looming.

How so? How is it Walsh/Mike fault we're not handing the Jazz a 20th or worse pick?
Do you see our roster? Did you see the roster before that?

What miracle did you expect?

You expected to build a winner around ZachAss and Crawful and TruckBury?

Jeez, you guys just don't quit.

Do you even understand the concept of rebuilding and what it entails?

You should cause your favorite team was DOG SHIT for YEARS. So you of all people should understand what it means to have to purge mistakes and start over...and over...and over.

But no, here you are crapping on the Knicks management for not building a super power with Crawful, Effries, ZachAss, avi Leefense, McCurry?

The hell you wanted to add to THAT core to win? Maggette?

Give it a rest, DJ.

And anyone who wants their team to scuttle their future to try their best to hand the Jazz a worse pick are retarded.

So tired of this crap. Why are so many Knick fans oblivious to the big picture?
