i'm with you, nixluva.

hey, i hope nate can get with the program. i'm also glad d'antoni has made it clear he won't play nate if he doesn't. the inmates don't run the asylum anymore. breath of fresh air.

Why cant people take MDA at his word when he says it wasn't personal? Why cant we listen to Nate, the man people are defending when he himself said the benching made him think about his antics? The fact that we are ignoring these things sounds personal on our parts. Personal in that most of the people calling MDA out are the same people that didn't want him here in the first place.

it's funny that if D'Antoni did such a horrible job in Phoenix, the Suns went back to playing his EXACT system this season after realizing the team was horrible without it.

Because it does not make sense, and if it doesn't make sense it isn't true. Robinson missed just about 50% of the games in November. Saying that he was the reason the Knicks were losing in November has no basis in reality. The Knicks win more and were more competitive in November when Robinson played big minutes...FACTS NOT FICTION!! http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3947

Uptown wrote:Why cant we listen to Nate, the man people are defending when he himself said the benching made him think about his antics?

Because Nate wants to play basketball and set himself up for his next contract so Robinson will say what he has to say. Do you think he really did not know that his agent would request a trade? He said that too!

By the way, does screaming and flexing count as an antic? Nate Robinson did that tonight!

Either that or perhaps we are just looking at the evidence as opposed to believing everything Mike D'Antoni says even when it makes no sense.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

TMS wrote:please, if Bender was able to go tonight & Hughes wasn't playing like garbage in recent games, Nate would still have been planted on the bench & you'd still be making up excuses to justify the benching... apparently MDA can do no wrong in your eyes... not all fans share your rose colored view of this franchise & aren't afraid to call someone out for something that they find disagreeable.

He used PT to make clear that he will play guys that do what he wants and it's never personal. The only thing that matters is WINS.

u just contradicted ur point with that statement... sitting guys to teach them some kind of lesson IS making it personal, don't u get it? sitting ur most talented players & allowing scrubs like Bender see time is NOT making it all about wins my friend... that BS statement about being willing to play Satan if it meant he could get a win is just more BS that he's spoon feeding to you... let's face it, MDA can't handle players that cause friction for him... i'm sorry if u think that's STUPID, but it's the truth.

TMS I can't believe that you think it's not in a coaches prerogative to decide plating time based on on court or off court behavior. It's not that MDA can do no wrong, but in this case HE DIDN"T do anything wrong, cuz it's always up to the coach who he wants to play or not. MDA never said that Nate would never play for him again. He also hasn't changed his coaching style either, since it's a well known fact that MDA is slow to reintroduce players once they are out of his rotation. Part of that has to do with the results we got with the rotation he had been playing. He evaluated the situation and felt the team could use what Nate does. Now you don't have to like his decisions which you clearly don't, but do you really think that this is a flaw in MDA's coaching ability? The guy is getting results, so what are you using to judge him? Is he supposed to go undefeated in order to please you? 9-6 for this team is a very good month. Maybe we win a game or two more or maybe we lose a game or two more playing Nate sooner. All I know is that MDA has the right to play who he feels gives him the best chance to win. He also has the right to sit guys if they act like jerks and don't defend or play under control. I fail to see your point in any of this.

obviously... the point is that MDA can do whatever the hell he wants, it's his prerogative as a coach... i think he's a damn good coach, never said he wasn't... the fault i find is when he makes up some completely fake bullcrap about it being all about winning & not personal when he's sitting his more talented player in favor of a "company guy" who sucks... this is akin to a manager that will give a raise to an underperforming employee who followed all the rules & didn't cause him any grief over the past year & demotes a guy who brings in twice as many sales as the other one just because he had a few run ins with him, & then justifies it by saying it's all about the company's sales & it's nothing personal... if i were another employee seeing my manager handle his employees like that by playing favorites, i'd lose a lot of respect for him... u all saw how happy Nate's teammates were tonight seeing him go off like that... i have a feeling u could ask all of them if they thought Nate deserved his benching & they'd say no judging from their reaction tonight.

like i said before, if MDA can't deal w/Nate's unprofessionalism, then it makes sense to showcase the guy & try & trade him for a usable asset... that's called eating your pride for the good of the franchise... letting a player as talented as Nate waste away on the bench for a month was not in the best interest of the Knicks' franchise & IMO a selfish move... at that point it was NOT about winning, it was about MDA exercising his juice card... tonight Nate shoved it down MDA's throat w/that performance & all MDA could do is smile cuz now he knows how Nate's ass taste.

they can't trade nate because no other team in the NBA wants him. i was hoping that realization over the summer would help him to get under control, but it hasn't sunk in. look at marbury. marbury thought it was his way or the highway until the end - now he is deluding himself that he'll be back in the NBA next season. let's hope nate gets it before he winds up playing in greece. (not that there's anything wrong with that.)

u seem to fall back on that assumption all the time when i haven't heard anyone here disrespecting MDA's coaching ability... if u can't deal with talking to us that's your problem... i can easily start throwing insults your way & making completely baseless assumptions about you the same way you're doing to us, but what good does that do? if u wanna debate an issue, debate it... or don't... ur call... leave the unnecessary comments out of this discussion.

i wanted MDA here & i think he's a great coach... what's that got to do with questioning the sincerity of his comments when his actions have gone completely against them?

And your point is? How many contract offers did David Lee get?

I think you follow enough basketball to understand why Nate Robinson did not get a contract offer (That we know of) but you're pretty dedicated to this erroneous argument that Nate Robinson was causing the Knicks to lose in November, when he only played half the games and they payed better with him so you're ignoring what you know to be true.

Personally I don't like the style of play...I hated the way Phoenix played while he was there...Seemed like he was finally shamed into asking his team to play defense this year...I think defense, rebounding and free throws win Championships...None of which is this coach emphasizes...Is it a coincidence when we slow things down there was success???...We are still jacking too many threes...I would love to see a player post, get opposing team in foul trouble..U know that use to be a strategy in earlier years??...I wonder what would happen to Moses Malone if this guy was his coach...I worry that we tailor this team to this coach and we have roster of three point shooters and have to fully rebuild after he leaves...Having a 7 footer on the team meant you should be able to get high percentage shots...Now they have to be three point shooters, makes the height kind of pointless huh(see J. Bender)...There is more too..just not in the mood right now...will start a thread when I get time...

it's worth comparing the two if they are making the same folly - putting themselves before the team.

and for people railing about disciplining a young player - remember how greg popovich used to war with tony parker? he was extremely hard on him. and it worked. young guards need to be molded and nate has never had a real coach - the larry brown incident in new york was too fraught with baloney from isiah, dolan and larry brown to be real coaching. d'antoni is trying to help nate. hopefully nate sees that.

you did notice phoenix went back to playing d'antoni's system this year, right? the knicks said even the names of the plays are exactly the same.

i agree that a team can't win without defense, but the suns took that kind of system about as far as possible.

dude, Tony Parker was 19 & still fresh... Nate is already set in his ways, he's been in the NBA for several years, u'r not gonna change him now... he is who he is... having awesome role models like Marbury over the years couldn't have helped the situation, but Nate has never put himself before the team to my recollection... to him, playing the way he does is helping his teammates... he has no ill intentions or personal agendas, he just wants to be out there with his bros... Marbury was a completely different story... sure Nate gets excited & likes to pose & bring attention to himself... that's his personality... i think a lot of that comes from his football player's mentality too... he gets way amped up for games & he can't help himself... he's never gonna change, but it's not out of any bad intent that he does the things he does.

All Ariza had to do was get banished from the Knicks soap opera, I mean basketball team.

I bet Robinson ends up in a better place too.
