orangeblob: "Bender won't play a single minute this season. Mark my words, I put my life on it."

Michael Corleone: "Nothing happens to my brother so long as my Mother is alive... or Jon Bender is a Pine Brother..."

Just got back from Dallas/Forth Worth - was there for the weekend to see the Mavs and the **** Cowboys. So glad to see them lose and to see my boy crushed that they lost. Too bad the Giants lost too lol.

Anyways, I like the Bender signing. It's worth a shot, he's only 28 and if his knees have anything left in them (which they may not) then he be a great fit for this team. This really came outta nowhere, I'm excited to see him suit up, whenever that is.

I wouldn't say it came out of nowhere, tho it was somewhat of a surprise. Bender had worked out for the Knicks in the summer and there was some reporting on that at the time. He's gonna be 29 soon and from what i've read on his knees there was a lot of damage and surgery to repair the cartilage etc. I think in his case the best thing was that he finally stopped trying to comeback so soon. Each time they did a surgery and he came back it seems like it was really too soon. His knee damage was so bad that it showed he had worn away much of his cartilage.

Now after years of allowing his body to heal it's possible to imagine that maybe his body was able to heal. I think he's also gotten some training on how to run better. He mentioned how his growth spurt was so sudden that his mechanics where really off and I think he did a lot of damage during those early years. Now he probably realizes what he has to do take some of the pressure off his knees.

Bender's feel good story has apparently smitten all of the UK posters (except blob) with love and happiness.. By far one of the best threads I've read in a long time.

If JB plays or not, it's still worth it. People have talked alot about the need of changing in our culture, which Bender without a doubt will contribute to.

Merry Christmas people!

It's been reported by the blobman that Bender has had octopus lips surgically implanted in his knees. Although not widely known, octopus cartilage does grow back.

This Just In

Scientists Develop Organic Bone-Cartilage Replacement

December 14 - "Researchers at Orthomimetics of Cambridge, England have recently developed a joint replacement scaffold that encourages the joint bones and surrounding cartilage tissue to slowly regrow rather than relying on permanent metal replacement joints.

Based on new materials developed at Cambridge University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the Orthomimetics procedure could greatly increase the quality of life and recovery time of patients formerly forced to rely on artificial joints."

Seems like Gerald Green was available.

lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

This is probably a personal favor or something Donnie is giving the guy, and maybe they need an extra body for practice, maybe because Darko is being a douche. File this in 'non-news'.

i tend to agree... Darko will probably be dumped

Yea, I never knew he had this bad of an atitude problem.

Dude,, do you remember early this season, he came in one game, and he took it MEAN to the hole, 2 plays in a row, 2 strong hooks in the paint. That was so promising.

THe guy has serious skills, I think he will absolutely dominate europe next year, dominate.

At some point we will need to expand the rotation, guys turn ankles, etc etc.

Maybe Walsh just like his personality and thinks he's a good practice player. Who knows. Time will tell. So will orange

But seriously fellas, how else are we to interpret this pickup? How can anyone justify giving Bender

minutes over Hill?

Hill is the freakin' #8 pick overall. If he can't even crack the rotation over a guy who's been out of the league for years, what good is he?

There's gotta be more too this. I think once the December 15th and other trade restrictions are gone, we'll see something happen.

Hughes, Darko & Mobley's contract to HOU for T-Mac & Brian Cook might work for both teams, but would hate to lose Hughes, he's been playing so well for us on both sides of the ball... would love to figure out some way to get Fishlips or Curry involved somehow.

how ironic if octopus lips surgery leads to Bender replacing Fishlips in our rotation

i think he came here thinking he would play more & after he saw guys like Fishlips getting minutes over him he probably shut it down... he even made comments to that effect a little while ago pertaining to him learning early on in DET that it doesn't matter what u show in practice, the coach will play his guys sometimes & there's nothing u can do about it... i think Darko could have helped this team but MDA is probably trying whatever he can to get teams interested in Fishlips & take him off our hands... at this point Darko's probably resigned himself to the fact he'll be playing in Europe next season & finally get some regular playing time, so maybe MDA sees this & doesn't want that to rub off on the other expiring veterans & young players?

I think that's the closest to the truth as we can get without askign Darko himself. Makes perfect sense. Can't blame the guy, he's just a 2cool4school, probably hates living in america, and now he will go back and dominate europe. oh well....what could've been...
