1) Toney Douglas playing defense
2) Other guys getting more shots, helps them more
3) They are winning.

I don't think this is all about Nate being benched. It's an all of the above situation. Although Nate doesn't help himself either.

i have a feeling Nate's not gonna play another game unless there's an injury to Duhon, Hughes or Douglas... he doesn't come across as a guy who thinks he did anything to deserve this benching so i doubt he's gonna change anything about what he's doing to earn more playing time... if i were Walsh i'd just offer him up to Charlotte along w/our 2nd round pick for Ray Felton... i think Larry Brown can deal w/Nate's shenanigans & Felton is a good fit for MDA's system... that opens the way for Augustine to get the starting PG role in CHA also & Nate will be an excellent 6th man option for them off the bench, big upgrade over Flip Murray.

can't see how anyone can argue that 1) MDA and his system disregards playing D 2) He doesn't adjust his coaching and/or system ...without qualifying it with this group of games. Small sample indeed, but it is something.

I would take Felton in a heartbeat but not sure Larry is gonna let him go that easily - dude is playing some good ball over there.

he's playing well but Augustine did a great job for them last year & i think he's their PG of the future... i don't think Felton will be there after this season anyway, they might be pumping him up for a possible trade just like we're doing w/some of our vets.

one of my best friends is close to the bobcats organization and says felton is not in brown's future plans. larry is leaning towards augustine as his future pg and felton will not be around next year, possibly even by trade deadline.

what fall from grace? Dude didn't play D, danced and posed and preened after making baskets 20 points down, and was a general clown. What was he falling from?

i agree w you on his antics but they did just give him $5mill for the season. thats not chump change.

my complaint with him is why didn’t he pull back on the 3-pointers earlier? you can say the players were adjusting, but i think it was up to mda to yank guys when they took out of flow 3's and let them sit for a few minutes while an assistant reminded them. we went through this last year too with basically the same crew of players. do they all of a sudden "get" it to not chuck so much or does mda finally get fed up and enforce it?

$4M plus $1M bonus for making playoffs. Average NBA salary is just under $6M. Certainly not chump change to me and you, but it is in terms of NBA salary.

The Knicks could have given both Lee and Nate their QO and were indeed generous, and if both players played well and stuck with team, it may have returned in dividends with that particular player or another player them want to sign (and whom they need to accepts a lower salary to start with the understanding that the Knicks take care of their own players).

Who knows.

my guess is that MDA was feeling out his players. Hill, Douglas, Hughes, JJ, Landry, Curry, Duhon, Lee, Harrington, Gallo, Darko.

Hill, Douglas: Can he play right away? Is he ready? Will he pick up a very complex offensive system.
Hughes: Dude makes 1 basket in preseason... should MDA have shut him down for good or give him a chance to play?
Gallo: How is back holding up? Is he in shape and ready?
Curry: In shape? Ready to run?
Lee, Harrington: which one is the leader?
Duhon: is he the first half player or the second half player of last year.
JJ: was his semi good shooting during preseason an aberration or for real?
Darko: is he for real and want to prove himself?

Most of the guys on the team struggled shooting for the first 10 games (and some still are). Was it the individual or the system? Was it the rotation, minutes, combo or both?

With a team in such flux it's hard not to see some of these coming into play.

Magic center Dwight Howard wants to see Knicks guard Nate Robinson out on the floor.

Robinson was reportedly benched by New York coach Mike D'Antoni for joking with Howard before the Knicks played the Magic on Dec. 2.

"We were just having fun. It shouldn't matter what you do before the game; it should matter what you do during the game," Howard said. "I want Nate to play."

He added that he tried to encourage Robinson via text message.

"I just told him to keep going and not let anything affect him, whether he gets five minutes or 25 minutes, just do it to the best of his ability," Howard said.

interesting inside info dude... i figure it's worth a shot, Nate is every bit as good a player as Felton is, probably better if u ask me... but he's just not meshing well w/MDA they don't see eye to eye on the way he needs to play... Nate needs to be somewhere he's free to run wild on the court & bring that scoring off the bench, i think he'd have an ideal opportunity in Charlotte, their bench is pretty pathetic as it is & LB already has some experience coaching Nate & i don't think he ever had to bench him for a prolonged stretch to get his message across.

Larry Brown coaching Nate Robinson again is not very likely.

Chicago needs Nate's scoring. Maybe we can get Tyrus for Nate.

lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

nate should do dunks in place of the knicks city dancers. i can't even fathom what that guy would do with one of those trampolines...plus he would be a fun "t-shirt shooter" im sure he would be creative with that.

i was thinking that made sense too the other day... Nate could help fill Ben Gordon's role off the bench for CHI, they've really missed having a scoring guy off the bench... Nate's not the scorer that Ben is but he's a lot closer than the guys they have coming off their bench right now.

Well, Tyrus for Nate is easy enough to do, but why do we need yet another PF. Why did we draft Hill if we are not going to give him the opportunity? Or, maybe they want to prepare for Lee's departure? In any event, Tyrus is not really a good shooter, so not sure why he would fit in MDA's offense any better than the players that we have.

i think Hill would be a 5 in this system, but for whatever reason they won't give him a shot... maybe they're just waiting to dump a contract like Fishlips or Curry to give it to him... who knows what Donnie's plan is but i know they didn't draft this kid just to sit on the bench the entire season... ideally we could dump both those guys & have Hill & TT take over their minutes... i don't think both Lee & Harrington will be here next year either, probably 1 or the other.
