Hold up... I almost forgot...

Wilson Chandler, with only 3 games in March and April where he has NOT scored in double figures, has developed the nasty habit of being a consistent scorer (17, 26, 23, 22) and a reliable defender.

The Mayor goes for 18 and 9 next season... and you can take that to the bank.

The Mayor's factorial statistics from the crystal basketball

uh huh

I especially like the 4 assists per game.

so basically he'll be Tim Duncan next year:
PPG 19.4
RPG 10.5
APG 3.5
BPG 1.7

If Lee isn't on this team, then Chandler's rebounds will skyrocket. How many games do I have to watch Lee maul one of his teammates for a rebound they already secure. I get it rebounding is your thing.

So then I guess we can expect 10 RPG from Eddy too.

Panos - Eddy Curry and The Mayor are entirely separates issue. If you have an issue with Eddy Curry, please contribute to the. "Eddy Curry Is So Fat That If A White Circle Was Painted on His Back A Helicopter Would Try To Land On It..." thread.

Now, where was I?

Oh yeah...

14.3 plus a production increase of 3.7 which translates 18 points per game. How does he get there? Given how consistent and durable Chandler has proven to be - as his numbers have steadily improved - and given how the refs (with added familiarity and respect) will grant him a few more "veterans quality" favorable calls, no doubt... the 3.7 point deficit is within reach.

Rebounds?

5.5 rebounds to 8.6 is a measly increase of 3.3. Piece of cake. The Mayor hits the weight room and reports to camp at a sculpted 230 pounds. He learns to play the angles better and learns to carve out space at the right spots.

Assists?

No problem. 2.1 assists to 4.2 is an increase of a miniscule 2.1. The Mayor, operating primarily at the two guard, brings his unselfish mentality and 6'8 court vision. As he learns the tendencies of his running mates, he can pick up the difference just on rhythm and repititions.

Book it Dano.

Mardy Collins went for 15-5-5 in 42 minutes per game last April.

......Chandler is what he is. A nice bench player. Nothing more.

Adurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...

Adurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...........

Yeah, the kid is not bright. Not consistent. Not efficient. Could be a nice 8th or 9th man for a good team however. No doubt about that. This crap about him being an all-star to be is ridiculous.

the only way i can see Wilson averaging 9 bounds a game is if he's playing in the post primarily... the way MDA has him playing now the most u can expect him to average over a full season is about 6-7 at best, with or without D Lee.

To build on your observation....he seemed to do very well as a backup 4. I think that is primarily what he was early in the season? Looked good doing that. BACKUP 4. Yet there he is not getting 9 boards. Maybe 5. Which would be fine in say 20 minutes as a BACKUP PLAYER.

"...Chandler is what he is. A nice bench player. Nothing more."

Cosmic - is Danilo Gallinari is a nice bench player, nothing more?

I really wish I had the proper words for your equating Wilson Chandler with Mardy Collins. But I don't.

Now, if you are suggesting the Knicks just allow Wilson Chandler to be ignored (despite his contributions) and walk, or trade him as a throw-in (as Mardy was) rather than support his development and growth, after the solid season he just had... then I would suggest there is indeed NO hope for ANY promising 21 year old in the big city.

Do you have a more deserving candidate for Knicks season MVP?

dude, if u don't think Chandler's a legit starting SF at the NBA level, no one's gonna change ur mind... but compare him to all the other starting SF's in the game today & see if you'd legitimately rather have those guys than Wilson starting on your team... my guess is you'll be surprised at what you might discover... sure he's no Melo, Lebron or Durant, but he's a lot better than guys like Maurice Evans, K. Azubuike, Marquis Daniels, Jamario Moon, Ryan Gomes, Nicolas Batum, Fran Garcia, Michael Finley, Trevor Ariza & compares very favorably to guys like Shane Battier, Jason Richardson, Shawn Marion, Peja & AK47 stats wise & overall.

Al Harrington is our best player right now. Perhaps you go home grown and give David Lee our MVP. What exactly is the value of a 30 win team's MVP anyway? Not a whole heck of a lot.

Gallo? A man who for all we know will always be hobbled with a terrible back problem for life? You want me to predict his future value? IMPOSSIBLE.

Inconceivable!

What is the purpose in evaluating Chandler and Collins as one? Simple...both were (are) intriguing player who when given time put up good stats on crappy teams but also mixed in some absolutely NBDL atrocious games with some very good ones. There is no way you take the third or fourth best player on a 30 win team and proclaim them to be an NBA star. You just don't. It is unfair to the player and unrealistic in the scheme of things.

I just don't get it

Here is a virtual rookie who does all the right things. Brings a versatile game. Works hard. Barely played a total of 100 NBA games and by all rights should be walking the halls of DePaul in his junior year. he makes the All Star Sophomore team. He is modest, well-mannered, and makes the community/school/ hospital appearances on a regular basis. He is classy and at the same time will dunk on just about anyone faster than you can say "poster time!"

He is improving with subtle adjustments to his game too nuanced for the casual "fan".

He does everything that you want, Scores, rebounds, gives it up, blocks shots and picks off a few loose balls every now and then. He shows up to practice early and stays late.

He is 6'8 220 and has played four positions. FOUR.

And the best (Cosmic) can summarize, after Chandler's FIRST season as an NBA starter, is "Chandler is what he is. A nice bench player. Nothing more."

What am I missing here?

You're missing the fact that he is at best the fourth best player on a horrendous team. That he is as stupid as can be. That he is as lazy as can be at times. You're touting him as a franchise player when he would be lucky to be a 7th or 8th man on the leagues elite teams.

He's 21 and this is essentially his rookie year as he didnt receive any consistent playing time until the last two weeks of the season!!!!!!!!!

What is wrong with you???? Why are you expecting him to be a perfectly-packaged talent right out the gate? He's still developing and learning.

This is giving me a flucking headache, for real.

You're right. I'm just being stupid. Looking to stir the pot for no reason whatsoever. Chandler is a STRAIGHT UP BEAST. Dude is going to put up 20/10/5/5 next year and lead the Knicks to 55 wins and the ECF.

So when he is committing 3 turnovers in crucial late 4th quarter games. Deciding to jack deep 3s when we all know he is gifted at taking the ball to the rim. He isn't being stupid and lazy?

Come'on Earl. I know you got mad Knicks love to the tune of 'face only a mother can love' intensity but even you got to see what I am saying about Chandler and at least understand, yet again, that the fourth best player on a 30 win team is HARDLY anything to crow about!
