Agreed. Considering Camby would be a temporary solution to a team that's not really in a position to contend, the only thing we get of real value is the young players acquired in addition to Camby. In which case Jordan and Bayless are needed

I think a realistic deal would be:

Clips get Richardson and Portland's 1st Round Pick.
Portland Gets Lee and Malik Rose
Knicks get Camby, Frye, and Bayless, and second round pick.

I think Portland and the Knicks would be good with this deal. The Clippers might not want to take on Richardson's contract simply to get a late 20's draft pick.

If the deal goes through, we resign Frye cheap to be backup center. We have 3 seasons to see if Bayless can turn into a top flight PG (I know he can be a 20 point scorer, the question is can he run a team). Camby would instantly anchor our defense and probably turn us into a decent defensive team, with Duhon and Chandler. We use our draft pick this year on a PF prospect unless someone at the 1-3 is clearly more worthy of the pick and we hope to sign Lebron and Bosh in 2010. We will probably save $6 million off of the 2010 cap with this deal.

their 1st round pick is what i'm saying is the likely scenario... it could be Bayless instead, who knows... it's not like he's seeing much playing time over there anyways... personally speaking, i'd rather have Deandre Jordan than Bayless, & i realize Bayless was a high lottery pick while Jordan was a 2nd rounder, but i feel that Jordan makes more sense for our franchise... i think Nate is better than Bayless anyways, at least for now... of course, if we do get Bayless & Jordan for Lee, all the better... if both those kids worked out for us, we could trade Nate next for another asset.

^ I want Rodriguez over both Bayless or a pick. Lee is a young guy with proven numbers, whereas Rodriguez is a young guy in the process of proving his numbers

I would not mind getting Jordan but I doubt the clippers are going to trade Camby and Jordan with Kaman hurt. Maybe we can have Portland send Frye to the Clippers, who at this point is probably a more ready center than Jordan, and the Clips send us Jordan.

Thus, Clips get Richardson, Frye, and 1st round pick
Knicks get Jordan, Bayless, and Camby
Portland gets Lee and Rose.

Looking at the Salary cap in 2010, if we could get rid of Curry and keep Jeffries we'd be at 12 million. Jeffries is 7 million of that and looking at the effect he's had on our D, I'm not sure they really want to move him now, unless they get a presence in the middle (Camby, Jordan?). It is interesting how Jeffries presence has coincided with the better defense of late, so let's see how the next few weeks pan out.

We have to think like management and I really feel like they are looking at Gallo as being a replacement for Lee (Gallo's health is an issue though and perhaps they don't want to move Lee till later?). But if they can move Lee and get a starting caliber SG/PG back then we are probably ok cause if Bosh and Lebron do come Lee would be an awfully expensive backup. Further, depending on Gallo's play (ok a reach here) if he does play well he could influence who we go after next to Bron.

Regarding Nate, we might find something better for this system in the form of a shooter, especially if we keep Al as 6th man. I can imagine management must have a wall with all the possibilities cause looking at the salary cap figures there is still quite a bit of moving to do and endless possibilites.

there's a reason Jordan fell into the 2nd round....he has no redeeming value as a player other than his height...he is Desagna Diop, the sequel

him over Bayless, an obvious Rodney Stuckey type player...is insane

I'm not sure if he'll pan out as well as Stuckey but definitely think the comparison has merit... that said, if D'Antoni can make Barbosa look like a stud, imagine what he could do with Bayless who comes from a university known for making quality guards?

If MDA is the reason all these guys are good why cant he use the magic potion on our guys to shoot the ball better? Why cant he make Jeffires a ball player? I think we give the coach too much credit when we win and it is the players fault when we lose.

i think has gotten plenty of blame for his play-calling and lack of reining guys in when we lose.

Right now, Donnie is in the drivers seat. He needs to sell high for DLee. Sergio/Bayless, Camby and Frye is good for starters.

BUT..

I hope people understand that if you do this deal, our chances of making the playoffs this year just got slimmer.

The ideal situation is to get two young guys to develop plus Camby. Then, next season, trade Camby for another young player or two.

I think the longer Donnie waits the longer he will get fleeced in a trade. A team will geive up their 10 or 11th man for a guy that averages a double-double. These teams know Knicks arent going to match so they will wait until this summer and bid on him. They should have traded him last year.
