Damn, I think I accidentally voted for Pat Buchanan. It was confusing.

This explains why dj's hormones were ragging. She was flirting with us. I wonder if McCain is going to do the same thing. Maybe he will give a shout out too.

Very clever girl. Don't under estimate her. She was speaking 'directly' to middle America. Joe did pretty good, especially after he stopped tripping over his word and slapping his mic a few times. I thought it was a very good debate. Was Joe crying there for a second?

LOL, the bar was set so low for her that if she would have farted on stage, people would have said it was an improvement. She is using the new GOP of the week "filter" replacing last week word "Gotcha".

Your an Obama supporter, as I am. Maybe a liberal at best. You hated Hillary, you hate McCain and you hate Palin. That's all fine and many of you share the same sentiments and feelings. And at best, most of you are all New Yorkers. I already know how you folks feel, believe me I don't like their policies either, but it is the rest of middle America that I worry about and I hope most voters feel the same way you's do. Because if they don't.............................

And that's my point.

Obama can put together a coherent sentence.

Tell him GKF.

Fuck this republican democratic bull****. Palin didn't answer a question the entire debate. Much like McCain. They dance around and say catch phrases all day. I'm sick of it.

And guess what? She doesn't have to. All she has to do is 'sound' good enough to be taken serious by certain kinds of voters. And if because of her, they get just enough votes, then I'd say we better be afraid. Don't listen to the polls. This is a whole new ball game of politics. Unchartered areas of demographics and how people really feel about what they want in the white house.

I'm trying to warn people not to take her/them lightly. There are certain groups of people looking for someone who sounds good to them and if they choose to vote their way, then it's curtains. I wish Obama supporters would stop with the name calling and start looking at this whole thing from all perspectives and using their heads to wooo other voters over (or even back' over).

Make no mistake that this woman is trying to pull as many female and 45 and older voters over to the other side as she can and I know a lot of them are giving her the benefit of doubt. Many of these voters were key voters for the Clinton campaign. All I'm saying is don't take it for granted.

And don't no one tell me that if they vote for McCain, then they'll be stupid. That doesn't help.
I'll never trust this' team again.

A lot of you guys saying she did terrible. Seems to me that she did a very good job. Regardless of lowered expectations, or the perception of her as a fool among Obama supporters, any objective person would say that she did a good job. But than again, objectivity doesnt exist when discussing politics. Im guessing a lot of republicans are pleased, and a lot of Democrats are poopooing and nitpicking for anything and everything.

What debate were you watching? Palin did well because she pretty much convinced everyone that she was a bumbling idiot and last night managed to look average. She dodged questions and really had nothing to say other than memorized talking points.

The fact is 'you don't know who she convinced of anything, if anything'. Your taking this for granted.

If they had kept her under wraps between the Convention and last night with only an interview granted with Fox News--there would trouble. How she was exposed between the two events helped alleviate the gains she made for McCain although this $ disaster was the main conduit. Is she much different than Dan Quayle?

It's not what she said. It's 'how' she said it. I myself found it appealing and I'm voting for Obama. When election day comes, if he ends up with 36 million votes (at least) then that will tell me that Hillary's supporters came through. And if a lot is missing, then clearly a bunch of her support jumped ship or just stayed at home.

I think the country is in a very sad state when the judgments seem to be more based on a popularity contest.

I think your "sadness" is misplaced, Solace. Its ironic that you would demonize this board as viewing the debates through a frivilous lens when all Palin has to do is look cute and not completely screw up and disintegrate.

This whole charade is insulting to any intelligent voter.

And what if most voters aren't as intelligent as you are? And I'm not just talking about voters from New York state. This is another example of taking these republicans for granted.

Izybx: What's your reaction to Palin's statement that there is no difference between the two campaign's views of gay marriage or gay rights? Just curious how Republicans viewed that. I thought it was an issue that rallied the Republican base but she basically took the issue off the table.

Im not a Republican, so I dont know the party line on gay rights. My personal view is that gays deserve the same legal rights as heterosexual couples, including civil unions. I dont believe they should adopt or get married. Beyond that its not really an issue to me what they do.

I'd have to go with that line of thinking. It's fair. Just basic rights for everyone should be automatic, because no matter who' you are, you should have your back covered when it comes to having a job, a roof over your head, food on the table and protected against abuse, with a right to opportunity to improve your life.

You know what's funny. The next day Palin had stories on Entertainment Tonight, Hollywood Insider, Extra. The irony is that the McCain campaign tried to equate Obama to Paris Hilton/Britney Spears. And Sarah Palin has become just that. She's become a tabloid princess, tailor fit for cashier checkout consumption.

Bush ran on the same image as her in 2000. Washington outsider, bring Democrats and Republicans together, down home every man image. The same image makers who made him have tried to make her. Coincidently the same image makers who destroyed McCain in 2000 work for him now. It's sad to see someone sell their soul like McCain has.

I find it interesting izybx claims to not be a Republican, but seems to parrot Fox News and the Republican talking points to a T. It's the tone McCain and Palin are setting. We're not the evil Republicans of the last 8 years anymore, we're brand new! I know I voted 90% of the time G W, but I'm a maverick! Accept your party affiliation and just accept what's happening. Much like this board, most of America is seeing that Obama/Biden are the right choice, and election day will prove that. Plus 58 seats in the Senate.

I just hope Obama didn't meet Isiah Thomas for 15 minutes in 1994 or the McCain campaign will try to say they were best friends and run commercials during the Knicks pre-season games. Watch for the Republicans to talk about NOTHING but Ayers, Rezko, Wright and ACORN for the next month. Why? Because they have nothing but people Obama may have met in the last 20 years in public service. All the while ignoring Keating, Libby, Troopergate, and of course the worst associate of all G W Bush.

I dont affiliate myself with any political party. I think that anybody who looks at themselves and see a Republican or a Democrat are selling themselves short. Am I conservative? Sure. Do I usually end up supporting Republican candidates? Yes. But I also have libertarian views that I doubt are "parroting" the talking points from fox news. My views are my own, and arent influenced by a talking head or a blogger.

Im not foolish enough to think that any party stands for anything else than the gratification the aspirations of rich egomaniacs. I respect Mccain, but I dont fool myself into thinking that hes anything other than a politician. I see Obama for what he is, a fraud. Neither of these men give a **** about you and I. I saw Obama for what he is when he said he "wasnt there that day" when Wright gave his racist speeches. I saw Mccain for what he is when he chose Sarah Palin as his running mate. Until we can get soomeone who is honest and sincere, I will continue to shun both parties. Fell free to think of Obama as anything other than the conniving politician that he is. In four years, we will see what "change" has accomplished.

Michigan is a wrap. McCain pulled all staffers and resources out of the state last week.

And the type of people to which you speak of were not going to vote for Barack anyway, so its just wasted energy even thinking about them. Nothing happened to Hillary other then Barack running a better campaign and winning fairly --- the PUMA's are living in some sort of alternate reality at this point. Hilary endorsed Barack and McCain/Palin are diametrically opposed to her positions, so even putting her on the ticket obviously wouldnt of mattered. We are all smart enough to know that other "issues" are at play here.

All that said, McCain's chances are bleak. Might be time to contact Bin Laden. Since Bush probably has him on speed dial, he might get him to endorse Barack or something.

I'm probably asking for it here, but I'm just curious Izbyx...where do you come up with the conclusion that what Wright said was racist?
