Yes, Houston was going to cut Ewing Jr. Ewing Sr. used to coach for the Rockets. As a favor to Sr. to let Jr. avoid the embarrassment of being cut, the Rockets swapped Ewing Jr. for an asset less valuable than a box of paperclips. Let's face it though, Ewing Jr. although not terribly talented has a high bball IQ and is tremendously athletic, and would be an improvement tot he team's practice. Ewing Jr. > Mardy Collins >= Malik Rose >>>>>> Jerome James

The Rockets saved 400k and it cost the knicks almost a million with luxury tax. It was more than a box of cleanex but point taken. It sure won't be a good sign of affection to then cut him. If this kid has any chance, and he does, he needs to stay on this team. As we all know, this will help some wounds to be healed and he is a better replacement for Balkman than anyone else out there. Good call that he is better than that trio.

When you're basically in a rebuilding phase, I see nothing wrong with taking a chance on a young talent and seeing what you can do with him. In Orlando Jr. showed scouts more than they expected and that includes Donnie. it's not just about his father being Ewing. I'm sure that may have helped, since many GM's like the pedigree of kids of former players.

I think no matter what he does in Camp they should keep him and develop him to see if he can make the needed improvements to his game. He's got the other end of the floor covered and he's a team player. it's reason enough for me to cut some of the old guys in order to make room.

lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

If you're not a scorer then you can easily look bad in the SL format. It's all about scoring in SL.

Now if you're paying attention you might notice that when playing team defense and keeping the ball moving on offense is important as in the regular season a guy like him can be an asset.

What do you mean he's never lost a game? His team just lost six in all of last season.

And Kam, if your talking about SL, then the Knicks went 5-0 the summer before and as a full crew won only 23 games. Winning all the games doesn't mean a thing.

I did find an article that said he was hurt in the first game and it was down all after that. He had a deep thigh bruise or something like that. But you are right, it is a scoring mans league.

ps - Thanks for the summer league stats 4949
