Randolph/Balkman for Tim Thomas/Camby could work.

Anyone think the Clips got Camby to trade him to the Knicks for Randolph?

then why not make it a 3 way deal? and his agent isn't talking like that was the case - i'm sure he would've known about it.

Also if it was a 3 way deal, would the salary matching have had to come into play? I.E. would the Clips have been able to split the trade exemption? Not sure how that works.

it would've been zach to clippers, trade exception to ny.

then trade exception to denver, camby to ny. but with the trade exception now in denver, i don't see how this happens.

Insane! That's an absolute steal for the Clipps. It will pain me if we got screwed by our own incompetence to take a reasonable offer for Zach. Seriously, this blows.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

No Camby would get traded to NY in the scenario I'm proposing.

Totally agree with DJ here. I don't think this trade with the Knicks was ever seriously considered by LAC.

I think that Denver would've had to toss back another salary to the Knicks in that scenario cause the trade exemption would've been like 4-5 mil greater than Camby's salary and I'm not sure you can use only part of the exemption in a trade.

It's called denial. Dunleavy reached out to the Knicks, not the other way around. Trust Walsh, don't trust Walsh, fine whatever but all evidence indicates that the Clippers began talks. Are you saying Dunleavy was calling Walsh to tease him? Walsh feels like he can back a lot for Randolph than a salary dump move and a 2nd round. Only time will tell with Walsh's decision.

Pharzeone, maybe Dunleavy was asking for Chandler to be included in the deal. Who knows.

Who knows what was asked for? The first report that you posted said the Clippers also offered Jordan and Cuttino then a day later a report comes out and says that it was just for a 2nd round pick. And this is all coming from the same source (SI), so who really knows what was offered.

How do we know that the Clippers didn't also ask for Lee/Chandler to be involved?

Why would that be a dealbreaker? The Mayor isn't any better than the other overrated young scrubs on our team.

That was an example used to illustrate a point as Chandlers stock is soaring due to his SL performance. Feel free to subsitute Chandler for 100 unprotected first round picks on non consecutive years if it suits you.

The first report was a 2nd rounder. Walsh wanted more, Dunleavy next offer was Cuttino and DeAndre Jordan, still not enough for Walsh. Who knows what value Walsh has on Randolph. Could be more than what others think. The guy is a 20/10 player, so I won't really kill him for that, I will not say Walsh actually killed the deal with the Gordon talk but it sure looks like it. But to walk away from this and say no, there was no serious talks with Clippers is just denial. It could be possible that Lee or Chandler was asked for, I don't know. But I do know this that the Denver deal seem to take place after all the Knicks/Clippers talks stalled.

Ok. I was more pointing out that you have to give something to get something. Money is extremely valuable in the NBA. So for a team to take Zach Randolph's contract, we should be expected to give something up. If Zach wasn't a known criminal and overall negative influence on teams, I think we could start demanding more. Any young player we have, short of Lee or Danilo, should've been a no brainer for this deal.

Dunleavy was at the Knicks summer league game- almost certainly he was scouting Gallo, Chandler, Balk or Collins.

I'm hearing that Collins agent called the Clippers and told them he wouldn't resign with them and that killed the whole deal.

Not sure, but MSG cut to him a few times at the end of the game (yet didn't cut to any other coaches).

Makes sense, my man Collins has Magic Johnson looking skills. He is going to be special.
