evil - because Layden received a pass for three years to work his counter-productive and redundant roster magic as General Manager before the natives got restless

Entering his second year as Head Coach and approaching his fourth year as President of Basketball Operations in late December, although there is as much fan excitement in the Knicks than in the last decade, Isiah is the debbil

Layden is history. May he log turnovers in peace in Utah.

But hey, let's skewer Zeke again before training camp even starts

Zach Randolph is selfish, Eddy Curry is fat, Jamal Crawford pisses me off and Wilson Chandler sucks

I think I have figured it out.....

The HATERS hate the fact that the Knicks suck....which they do.

The LOVERS hate the HATERS while preaching LOVE......hmmmm What a complete waste of time. Some of them can't even comprehend the difference between a Prediction and an Expectation and keep harping its the same thing.

This stuff is kinda childish.....please let this stop.

As childish as pretending to objectively define the positions of haters and lovers while clearly positioning yourself squarly in the hater camp?

Not nearly.

For whatever reason, we could all find harmony in hating Layden. But Isiah has still got some people's trust. I don't know where that trust comes from and why it still exists...

Simply, Layden's veteran-laden team had an established ceiling, somewhere around 35 wins at best (and this before Houston's injury).

Most people, even some haters, can agree that this team hasn't hit its ceiling yet, and expect to see continued progress this year.

As for trusting Isiah, no, I don't "trust" that he is going to put together a winning team. Especially not after the trade for Zach Randolph which I hated. But I recognize the difficulties in attempting to put together a winner with the dreck he inherited and with the pressure to win immediately put on him by this city, the team's fans, and particularly his boss. I realize, in other words, that this hasn't been easy.

But he made a big move trading for Randolph, sending a pretty clear signal of the kind of team he wants here in New York. OK, lets see how it works out. My patience will last about one more season.

I agree that all of our individual players have higher ceilings than the Layden era guys if we discussed them all in a vacuum. But I tend to think that we have a bunch of guys that will never reach their full potential together and that is the problem with our team. I love a lot of these guys' individual talents. I just don't feel it will work like a team is supposed to work. I kinda wish we had one of those teams where guys that aren't even that ridiculously talented can come in and reach max potential because the team is put together so well. I'm afraid we have the opposite and I think it's Isiah's fault.

C'mon misterearl. Let's not spoil things. I think Rembee, nixluva and I are all setting good examples of dialog here. No one is overreacting. We're just bouncing opinions back and forth. I did the furthest thing from skewer Isiah. I listed moves I didn't like. GM moves. I haven't mentioned anything personal or insulting about any of our players or our GM or any other posters. Maybe I am extremely disappointed in Isiah, but I'm not calling him a piece of **** or anything harsh like that. I simply laid out some moves I didn't like of his and explained why. I appreciated your humor, but don't overreact to my distaste for the man's work so far.

Did that look like an objective definition of something? I was just typing out basic observations, and yes I am very much a HATER as it gets described in these parts. Don't have a problem with it, do you?

Many of the things people bash Isiah about come from the 1st year and a half. There's really no point in going back to that time, since it was really a different team. Since the Nazr trade Isiah has been working on the current team we have.

LB didn't work out. James didn't work out. Francis didn't work out. People don't like Jared, but he's just a role player for this team and the book is still out for what will happen with him. Now with regard to all the other things he's done, I think there have been a lot more good things than bad. His drafts for the last 3 years have been very good. Adding Curry and Zach has the potential to be huge for this team. Isiah taking over as coach IMO is a good thing. His Roster had been bashed over the years for not making any sense, but he's refined this roster and you can see it taking shape. He's at the point where one good move could propel this team into upper echelon and to me that says a lot about what he's doing with this team. Isiah is not a great GM, but he isn't that bad tho.

Nix, I appreciate the fact that even you can own up to having some disappointments during Isiah's era. I know RemBee admitted the same in a previous post (re: the Randolph trade). We've all had some rough moments in the last 6 years to say the least. I have noticed that there have been a lot of arguments lately on the board. I don't normally get involved, but I'm glad that we could at least keep it cool. Although I have to say -- the arguments can be entertaining.

I know that there's one thing we can all agree on.

The thing is that the majority of us aren't that far off in how we feel about the team. There is an element tho that has a very deep rooted view at both extremes.

solace, you okay man? you seem like you've been taking some of this stuff way too personally lately.

Just tired. It's been a long week. I have a lot on mind regarding things unrelated to this board.

I like coming here to chill, but lately the board has just been a mess. You can't have a reasonable discussion anywhere without getting jumped on. I can tell people aren't reading my posts or they're been translated to Greek upon posting, because some of what I get in response lately is just ridiculous. Then there's the gimmick posters, I'm getting fed up with those too. So, I'm a pit peeved. I'm tempted to take a break from the board for a while... which will probably make most of the posters happy.

I do appreciate the concern, though.

one...you've been doing most of the jumoing (even this thread on martin of all people)

and PLEASE take a break from the board (and take true blue with you).

try not to take your personal life out on us...i've got my own problems but you don't see me targeting posters with rude retorts.

advice...proof read and get a grip.

very good example of the stuff UK is made of...with the exception of loweyecue dropping some hate, good reads on this last page...sorry for telling solace to take a hike and to take true blue with him...I was on page 3 at the time and hadn't stumbled into the good reads yet.

notice not a briggs post in the lot...one of the best measuring sticks for knowledge.

but you can feel the biting nature of some posts.

i'm pretty happy about this year, but I too have a limit and 3 years is that limit...in all sports.

if the yankees don't make the playoffs or lose in the first round...torre must go.

I think lb sabotaged, so I give that year a pass. he asked for francis and called ariza dillusional...but the one thing he did do was focus isiah on a championship.

this is year 2...however, year three of zeke the gm.

jj2 will be ok, and if he's not, balkman and lee will more than take his minutes.

jerome isn't on the team as far as i'm concerned.

and the back court is tight.

I like the celts to win some games, but they are an injury or two away to being the worst team in the league again.

can't wait until preseason.

keep up the knowledge.

I think the main thing is that the ultimateKnicks board should be a site for celebrating...not for bitching.

and that's the confusion...my buddy andy gadiel has a phish board, and some guys started hating on the phish...they (got) disappeared.

that was a time when the board meant a collection of positive vibes.

when the mods start to allow straight up hate filled posts under the guise of free speech...it ruins it for us that just want to sit back and spread some pure knick love.

so come on mods...no need to ban the hate filled posters...but maybe 'quiet time' for a day or so will help keep the pure knick love...well, pure.

i'm all about free speech...but don't tread on me man.

and try not to tread on my beloved knicks.

If you guys really want to hear some good jazz- come to the Village Vanguard week of
August 21-26 - I'll be playing saxophone with John McNeil- a great trumpet player who played with Horace Silver, Thad Jones and Gerry Mulligan - he suffered from unbelievable physcial problems through the 80's and 90's which slowed down his career but is back playing great, and leading his first band at the V-guard at age 59. His whole story was told in a recent NYTimes article but it's on "Times Select" so it's not free- but this other review of him is here-
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/02/28/arts/music/28mcne.html?ex=1186977600&en=5c20bef86f8c192b&ei=5070

PS I'm a LOVER but I think HATERS are funnier
If you are still following the team and reading sites like this, there is nothing, short of your own demise, that is going to throw you off this train.
