ok, i apologize for the name calling... that wasn't necessary... but there's a BIG difference between inference of racism when someone posts legitimate arguments against a player like Marbury who has made idiotic statements to the media & never lived up to them, to inference of racism when individuals make suggestions that Yi & his handlers should know their place or go back to the country where they came from.

What I am trying to get across Papabear felt that Marbury was being singled out because of his race while you felt that some Posters were singling out Yi for the same reason. Every person race bait and sometimes it is warranted and sometimes not but to dismiss it because it doesn't apply to your race or reasoning is not productive. I am sure not all posters who had problems with Yi didn't attributed to his race. BTW, if you at your defense here it is similar to what Papabear posted only moments ago.

I don't know if you outright called someone a racist but yeah you did race bait in that thread and some people did take offense to it. The poster that you responded to asked you to stop playing the race card. BTW, it is funny to listen to someone defend Ali on race is funny on so many different levels.

That may be too simplistic. I'd have to go back and look at the thread, but I think some of what was said about Yi in one of the Yi threads was pretty blatant. That's only from what I remember, though, so I'd have to go back and reread. I haven't seen anyone poke anything at Marbury simply because he's black. Honestly, I'm confident that most of us couldn't care if Marbs was blue, green, yellow, pink, purple, whatever... we're just tired of hearing the guy. It's not because of his color, it's because he rarely has something intelligent to say and makes empty promises. The things he is doing with the sneakers are good for the community. Frankly, the notion that he's been knocked for that is repeated on this board, but incorrect. All people said was, 'don't confuse business with charity'. Some people got up in arms over it. But nobody ever criticized Marbury for selling an item at an affordable price and making money off of it, that would be silly.

Perception goes both ways. And I suggest you go back through various threads because he was indeed criticized for his sneaker venue. As I said it's a perception thing.

People hate Marbury because he talks too much and his team always loses, not because the color of his skin. God can we please have one discussion without someone saying people don't like so and so becuase they are white/black/asian/homosexual/red/purple. If Marbury won some games no one would have a problem with him. Backup your talk on the court and you'll have no problems.

I agree but it can't be one sided. Saying Yao is soft doesn't mean that person is a racist. Saying that somebody doesn't agree with Yi and his handlers' stance with the Bucks or I am tired of how the situation is being handled are racist comments.

honestly, i've been reading these forums for a lot longer than you have & i've never seen an outright racist comment directed at Stephon... every criticism i've seen made of him has been based entirely on the idiotic things he says, his selfish attitude & philosophies, & the way he's acted recently in televised interviews... i've never seen any poster make any inferences to his ethnic background the way they have been doing with Yi in recent weeks... if i failed to take notice of it, then i stand corrected, but i would have no problem admitting it if i had, believe me... i've called out people for making ignorant racist comments about black & white players alike... i'm not some Asian crusader that only takes notice when people diss on Asians... i don't like bias inspired comments of any kind.

That's why I use the term perception. What may be offensive to you may not be to others and not perceive as such. It works vice versa as well. I am done arguing for another's point. BTW, I do not feel you are racist, I was just offering another view point.
