I don't think too many people will argue that we don't have more talent and more potential than we did during the Shanvis Eisleyspoon days. But if you can't make that talent mesh and produce and work hard and together on the floor, who cares. At some point as fans we have to raise our standards and stop accepting potential as a sign of success. Optimism? yes. Succes? No.

Remember Darius Miles has potential as well.

That's it! You pushed me to it. Travis Knight is garbage. You can quote me on that. I think I've now outdone the Tim Duncan is garbage comment.

those same teams go and lick their chops when they see the Knicks on the schedule.

Utah
Chicago
Detroit
Miami
Lakers
Orlando
Golden State
Toronto
Cleveland

...all quality teams that were licking their chops when they saw the Knicks on their schedule, all losers during a 2 1/2 month stretch of good play that was supposedly due to the "easiest schedule you will ever see".

The Knicks had plenty of quality wins during that stretch. They were, in fact, undone by their consistent inability to get up for teams they should have beaten. Marbury carried the team at times, as did Curry, Crawford, and Lee, with meaningful cameos from Balkman.

As did every other NBA team during that stretch.

Why include Balkman in there, other than to help your argument, when he had a lot more DNP-CD's and meaningless garbage time games than meaningful cameos?
Well, until you start looking at the team in an unbiased way instead of maniacally persuing a hateful agenda...yes, you are a hateful venomous person

Where have I been so biased as to be unfair in judging this team and their players? Every year I end up thinking that they will win more games than they actually do but I'm unfairly biased against them? That's funny.

A couple of miraculous finishes at home, a couple of good wins and a couple of wins against teams missing key players.

Sounds about right for just about any team in a 2 1/2 month stretch.

Bippity - perhaps team-building is not a one year exercise as some would like to believe

perhaps there was more collateral damage to the fabric of the Knicks roster than simply the players Layden acquired. There was a void in leadership.

Those that want to discount the performances of the Summer Knicks are missing the focal point of rebuilding entirely. Rebuilding a team psyche is as important as rebuidling the superficial stat column.

The Real GM types who want instant talent upgrades for dreck miss the point about setting a positive collective tone that can override the flawed personalities. Ever notice that whoever the vintage Celtics plugged in, from Bill Walton to Dennis Johnson, conformed to the franchise mantra?

My citing the Summer Knicks is less about statistics than it is about playing personality and professional demeanor on the court. People can bash the Summer Knicks all they want as that ignorant agenda is only based on throwing dirt balls.

What I saw in person was a young bunch of guys going about their business, from the moment they enetered a very informal gym until they left, in a professional manner. They didn't run a layup line, they ran footwork drills. There was no joking.

In don't see a problem with that.

As usual, you INTENTIONALLY misinterpreted and twisted my point. You were saying how we lost to teams we should've beat. The teams we lost to that beat us were thinking that we were a team they were supposed to beat. How is that a foreign concept?

Let's pull a Rembee.

I think the only thing you'll hear from people around here is that Layden was better than Isiah but thats not saying much since they both were horrible.

I rest my case.

Im assuming his objective was to attempt to do this so other posters might see his partial quote of mine and they may jump in under false-pretenses to his aide.

So its gone from the "easiest schedule you will ever see" to one that "any team" could expect over 2 1/2 months...exactly my point...wins "any team" that is border-line .500 could expect, which is what we were in that period before we were derailed by injuries.

Borderline .500 after a 23 win season the year before? How is that not tangible progress?

Ooh, I missed that one. That's outright nasty by taking only part of a sentence and quoting it, when the rest of sentence clearly changed the meaning entirely.

You guys are amusing, this is why I hang out so much here.

Changed the meaning entirely? He just said his preceeding statement "wasn't saying much" but he admitted that you would hear from people that Layden was better than Isiah. So...how did I twist the meaning?

Point, anyway, was people were accepting of a trade for a peaked veteran after a 30 win season. DJsun has yet to come forward and admit that he defended it, but thats on him. Oh, sorry, and Solace "understood" it, but didn't like it.

Right. Moving on...
