I rest until I feel I don't need more rest! It depends on how hard the previous set was. I use this for all info on form: http://www.exrx.net/Lists/Directory.html

I like to attack. If you have a good partner you can really push that.
Otherwise, just attack and rest as long as you need to, just don't turn your workout to an all day event. 40-45mins is fine to have a good workout. i try to do 4-5 movements if you do less like 2 you should be done in 20 mins.
Let me just clarify attack. You have to be under control and keep good form. Attack it meaning don't let your body tell you "to hell with this". If attack your body is gonna want more. If you bull****, you inner coach potato will take over.

EnySpree: Do you have any suggestions for diet? I'm not looking to eat less, I am just looking to eat right. Any website that can suggest a vegetarian protein rich diet?

Its hard to get the protien you need if you are vegeterian. You can meet the daily requirement with no prob. According to everybody building reference you come across, they say we need 1gram of protien per pound of body weight. I weigh 200lbs. Getting in 200 grams of protien without protien shakes is impossible. I never come close to getting that much protien. I can get there if I gag down 3 40gram servings and eat my regular stuff. Key word is gag. Some shakes can taste terrible.
Anyway its kinda impossible to not ray healthy if you are a vegetarian, unless you just like to eat a pot of rice/pasta by yourself or maybe a box of donuts by yourself, washing everything down with a beer. That's why I got my gut.

Eggs, nuts, beans, milk, cottage cheese, and yogurt all come to mind.

Try GNC brand chocolate caramel. Take with milk and some ice cubes in a blender at it tastes geat. Ive been having assorted shakes for about 8 years (I usually get whatevers on sale) and its by far the best tasting shake ive ever had.

I'm taking nitro-tech. Its has everything you would need in it to gain muscle, but it just tastes like sweet vomitt, lmao. The vanilla taste more like butter.
I was using gnc brands before and I thought they were fine. I just might go back to them.
Muscle milk makes a ready to drink shake that's yummy for my tummy. Ever tried the powdered form?
Bsn brand makes great products but they are too expensive.
Gnc is my pusher.

I've hurt my shoulder lifting. I'm not good with anatomy but it's where the arm meets the cross bone of the shoulder. It';s not bad, but it's more than just soreness/fatigue.
Should I stop lifting for a period, or keep going with reduced weight, or what?

Well you don't have to have the eggs and beans, although I do and I don't get gas.

You definitely shouldn't exert yourself if you have an injury like that. You stand to make it much worse. Let it heal first, and if it just doesn't go away see a doctor.

I know that makes a certain amount of sense, but a long time ago when I threw my back out I'd try to do as little as possible after and it would take weeks to heal. Now I try to do as much as possible and it takes days to heal. Maybe the original injury is less severe of late, but I really feel like keeping some stress on it keeps the blood flowing which helps it heal faster. I guess it's a matter of how much stress to put on it. Maybe just stretching and gentle stuff for a week or so?

Stretching is probably ok as long as the stretching doesn't elicit pain. I would definitely refrain from serious weight bearing on it for at least a week or so though. Depending on the nature and severity of the injury it might also be a good idea to lessen your load when you do start up again and slowly build backup to where you were.

Soreness is normal after lifting; pain isn't. How severe is your discomfort?
Not too bad, in general, then it's kinda sharp when I tweak it just so. I don't think it's too bad, I just want to help it heal faster without over doing it. I think I will stretch it without weights for a few days.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

I haven't read through the entire thread. So sorry if my comments seem a little disjointed from the topic at hand.
In my personal experience I've always played sports seriously played soccer and basketball growing up, 3 sports through all of high school and b-ball through college. Since finishing playing basketball competetively I've maintained one edict:
Keep things simple. I've never used supplements from some reason I had these bad thoughts of growing hair on my chest and developing an Adam's Apple. I eat pretty much what I want (keep in mind that I don't have this huge appetite either. I goto the gym now about 3 times a week. If its nice out I'll try to walk around instead of hopping in the car. I take the stairs instead of getting on elevators (witin in reason of course). Just very basic stuff. Just very basic stuff now but than again I can be an energy bunny.
Most of my work out consists of two different routines. The straight cardio with some strength training. I hit the bike and treadmill for about 20 minutes apiece. I try to do both at a somewhat high level. I don't do heavy weight lifting but more of lifting just to maintain my body tone. So just some arm curls, leg presses, calf lifts, a few other upper body exercises. Of course I do a few sets of abs. Though I have to take a more unconventional route because my back always starts to kil e doing the basic sits ups.
My other work-out is a play ball either a one one one or in a pick-up game. Basketball will give you some of the best conditioning especially if your playing with some semblance of effort.
So my bottom line for getting in shape is don't cheat. Popping pills, chugging mysterious liquid, or on a more drastic level getting surgery are all short-term solutions with possible negative effects in the long run. Grind it out try to establish a healthy lifestyle and instead of focusing on having a body like Brad Pitt (though I wouldn't be complaining looking at a body like that) try to find the right balance of eating right along with working out.

Nitro tech along with anything from muscletech is a ripoff. Whey protein is whey protein. Dont spend triple the money for "nitrogen" or whetever they claim is their secret ingredient. Trust me bro, its not worth it
