I can name couple, if you want. THe bigger point is you don't know them because Isiah is the devil and 3 years of gm'ing goes superPerfect ever where else.

Why dont you name them instead of just saying you can. I don't get why Isiah gets so many chances while other GMs would have been out after last years debacle.

I have no idea what you said there. You haven't said one bad thing about Isiah since you been here so I'm not really too sure how to take what your saying.

Here's a few:

McHale
Ainge
Elgin Baylor (after decades of futility, he won GM of the yr this past season)
Mullin

McHale drafted Garnett who is a superstar and Wally, his team has went as far as the Western Conference Finals, so I can't give you him. Danny Ainge I'll give you, he's been bad, almost the same way Isiah has. Elgin Baylor has worked with absolutely NO PAYROLE from ownership for his entire tenure until this year and Chris Mullin was just recently signed to the Warriors post, so the jury is still out on him.

Either way your argument lacks.

I love Balkman as a player, I preach defense! I just didnt think our GM maximized his resources. Since when is that not allowed from a fan?

briggs, you can ask that other stats guy, but you have to discard the best AND worst to have an accurate sample.

We needed defense, comparing williams to balkman is simply silly and you know it even as you still do type the comparison...It's like you are laughing to yourself cutting a pasting an offensive players stats and comparing them to a defensive player...does that even make sense to you in all honesty?

Now if you compare him to nate, that's a comparison I'd like to see.

the undercurrent of hate is littered in all the posts against the pick, all these same guys were saying we needed defense. Most of them just don't like isiah or marbury and will cling to the 4 bad moves and ignore the other 8 good to great moves. That's twice as many good/great moves as bad moves.

But in the same breath defend another gm with a post that says "so and so they drafted was a bust" and "well, they had bad luck there" and and and.

But we've had no drafted busts in our three drafts and somehow had 5 first round picks in his tenure...that's some pretty good deal making imho.

but they just don't like the guy...so they bash and bash and bash (and when they get put against the ropes ****** comes to their rescue)

I'm just calling a spade a spade, if it's obvious, then come to the rescue...just further validates the assumption.

Defense wins championships and to compare a defensive pick that has zero plays called for him to a point guard that controls the offense is simply a way to slant your argument against isiah.

What gm doesn't get fired after debacle last year? NONE, because it was the coach and yes, he was fired...yet another stupid argument by ****.

The constant marbury bashing is kind of crazy as well, his worst year was under brown, which if you check, all but one player had his worst year under brown, and you could argue statistically (******) that even crawford had his worst year statistically.

So going by last year is fool's gold.

But, let's say we completely ignore last year happened (equivalent to removing a player that I jocks worst game in a 5 game stretch) and only attribute half of last year to zeke, removing it off of zeke's tenure, he's only been here 2 years.

2 years.

we have everything filled in and the offense in place compliments our players. All under 26 and 2 deep at every single position.

Renaldo was the best pick and anybody that claims we will be thrown a first round pick for williams when we would be dealing from a position of weakness is ignoring the fact that nobody wants any of our other Assets either.

We couldn't give malik rose away.

So, let me get this straight, there are 2 or 3 guys that know more about the nba and are absolutely positive we could have drafted both williams and balkman and could have traded williams in an instant for a first round pick...to be used for a defensive player NEXT YEAR.

Ok, now it's starting to make sense.

I wonder how these masters of draftology did in the draft picker?

rv, what's your point? I lost three or four points on getting picks to the right teams and then having those players traded so they came out at the wrong *slot*.

Furthermore, I updated the draft picker right away, forgot about it, went to go back to update right before the draft started and it was locked -- I missed my shot to hop in with some corrections.

I don't complain about only getting a score of 2. I really didn't care (if it was for money, I would've).

Anyway, I assume you're kidding. More importantly, I beat Andrew.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

What star players has he had to let slide because management wouldn't pay for them? Lamar Odom is the only one I can think of in 20 years and it's a stretch to call Lamar a star anyway.

Baylor was not allowed to add salary becuase Donald Sterling is extremely cheap, he wanted to pay NO luxury tax and that really tightened Baylors hand. His draft history is a little sketchy but some of that might be attriubuted to the fact that he had to take certain players in the draft beucase he couldn't sign players to contracts. His situation is the exact OPPOSITE of Zekes moneywise.

I wouldn't really say anything about baylor and drafting- he's usually been picking at the top of the draft where the order is more certain. He has had his flops- Kandi comes to mind- where was our own Q picked?

Considering how high up they were every year in the draft, they should have been able to get much better players. Then you can get role players for small contracts if you're a smart GM. Maybe he didn't have enough funds to build a championship team but he certainly could have built .500 teams in less than 20 years.

Not sure what you mean. Drafted players get fixed contracts. This would have been the perfect opportunity for him to get several good players cheap if he were a good GM in his first 20 years.

What it comes down to is that none of this matters. If you want to say Baylor has been given a longer leash then Zeke then fine but there aren't many out there who have done as bad or worse and have been retained and I still don't know why Isiah is as loved as he is by some on this board. He has done nothing, the Knicks record has gone down for 3 successive years.

Wait...are you trying to justify your stance on the Balkman pick and take down other's opinions on said pick because of Ultimate Knicks Draft Picker?!?!?

I think the minute this was posted was the minute this thread should end, and I don't mean that in any way that states this post proves anything.

Now I undestand exactly what you meant about Baylor!

I agree that Isiah's been an awful GM but think you're way overestimating his popularity here. I bet at least 90% of posters here think he's a bad GM. There's just 3 or 4 that you reply to a lot who praise Isiah.

I've been somewhat supportive of isiah's moves- I think he has genuinely tried to upgrade the talen.

when he was named GM, I moaned that we had basically gotten someone that had never down anything after his pro career. He has had marginal successes along the way, some failures that are debatable as to his involvement.

I can accept his pick of Balkman because he has down well in the draft.

I've disagreed with just about ever coaching move he's made, except getting rid of chaney, but it was horribly handled.

I was unhappy with the curry trade, but I am willing to see if it will work out, though I am not holding my breath.

Isiah isn't the problem- that's why I give him a pass at times- the problem is Dolan.

Its easy to fire the GM/Coach, much harder to get rid of the owner.
