The master class crap and slavery inferences are completly inappropriate, oohah. This isn't even close. Trying to piggyback the TWUs cause and make it comparable to such cheapens the sufferings of slavery and social oppression and is quite distasteful.
As you may have read in my posts above, I don't find the comparisons to the civil rights movement etc. entirely apt. Yet, they are not entirely without merit either. Go to www.ny1.com and look at the polls of how opinions over this strike break down. I think a reaction to "social oppression" is quite close to what we have viewed in this case. Look at how Pataki and Bloomberg have characterized/demonized the 70% minority union, yet have absolved the MTA by ommission of admonishment towards that corrupt organization (Which Pataki leads in many ways). There is certainly a question of class if not race: "This is good enough for THEM, how dare THEY strike!"

Now that the TWU has shown they will strike for what they believe in no matter what the penalties are, other working-class essential workers might do the same thing, and it scares the sh!t out of the "ruling class" (Upper class?)if you will. Nothing scarier than disobedient proleteriats.
