I agree we need a shooter, 100%, but I think you're a little harsh on Ariza. He is, afterall, only 20, but he's a piece of the core and he's not being traded anytime soon, so enjoy the ride. But then again, if you don't like roller coasters like I do, then you probably wont get on in the first place.

I understand he is only 20 but he hasn't improved on anything over the summer. Every year he should get better but I don't see it happening. Jackie Butler plays way better this year than last. Is it cause he worked in the off season?? Again, what has Ariza improved on? Next year I will be told don't be so harsh, he is only 21.

P.S. I love roller coasters so much I moved close to a six flags!!

Am I the only one who laughs at the thought behind this thread? So silly. Ariza is really killing the competition.

I love 'em too, but I just HATE how they last so quickly, and then you have to wait 30 hours for the next one. Almost makes it not worth it to me. Really, the best time to go to Six Flags is on a weekday when they think it might rain, but they really aren't sure, and you take the risk.

I thought I was the only one on here who DIDN'T think ARIZA is the NEXT BIG THING.

This kid is getting under my skin so bad I'm beginning to dislike him as much as I disliked Shandon Anderson. And that is REALLY BAD!!!

Me and guns arent too high on him either. He is a pure hustle player right now and needs to add to that.

WHOA! Easy man. I think you have forgotten Shandon Anderson.

Its hard to forget about Shandon Anderson when this kid is just a reminder of him and nearly everyone praises him on this message board. Just makes me sick. He needs to get with the And1 Traveling team and leave us alone.

If you only watch Ariza's shooting, you won't catch the whole picture. How about rebounding, defense, passing, knowing when to shoot. In those areas he is very good for a player of his age.

I am seeing the whole picture. There are plenty of guys like him. When you see Matt Barnes out there doing the same thing its hard to Ariza on a higher platform than him.

And what do you mean shooting and passing. The only reason he knows when to shoot is because they leave him WIDE OPEN most of the time and he doesn't even knock it down. And the passing, give me a break. It was horrific watching him last night. Face it, he is not that good.

Don't get me wrong, in the same breath I want him to get better but lets not praise him and call him a foundation for a future team. At best he is a nice practice/bench player.

I have not called him the foundation of a future team, but he sure can be a cog.

Shooting: If you are open you have to know when to shoot the ball and when to put it on the floor and when to pass even if you are open. Nice practice player? Only on par with Barnes? I'll forward your message to Brown and let him know you disagree with him.

If you can forward this message to Brown might as well give him the thoughts of everyone else on this site besides mine.

I get the feeling that Ariza knows that the only way he can score is to get to the basket. That's not a good thing when you can't dribble well and tend to turn the ball over and take out of control shots when the defense plays you well. Until he develops a consistent outside shot he'll never be more than a hustle/role player.

Sounds good to me. I keep saying the kid needs to constantly work on his handle.

Why is this thread so long? What is there to talk about. Ariza is not that good right now.

He has great instincts that you can't teach. He needs to handle the rock. Simple and plain. Dude can't creat his own shot and he can't finish unless he is skying for a dunk. He is an extreamly limited basketball player. The jumpshot is suspect. He still has no confidence in it. That is not his game. He needs to be moving and attacking the rim.

Josh Howard!!!! Just look at freakin Josh Howard and i'll show you the player Ariza should be more like. Josh is similiar to Ariza in every way except Josh can score in between and handle the rock and create. Josh Howard is a Knick....wish we had him.

I was basically saying the same thing but not as ARTICULATE. I agree that was a good post.

Ariza and Barnes arent in the same universe athleticly. Ariza is a sick athlete and his whole game is based on that and heart right now. I'm wondering if these last couple of games have helped open peoples eyes a bit. Bonn, Ooha, whoever. This guy is so far from being a scorer in the NBA its not even funny. He's so unskilled with the ball its not even funny.

Still, I think my favorite line up is Marbury and Crawford along with Ariza, Frye and Curry.

Hey Enry....

Great minds think alike:

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

They need to hire us to be assistant coaches. I wish I could work with ariza and Taylor. For some reason no one has spent the time to develop these guys. Ariza can't score and he can't create while Taylor can score but will never be able to become a theat unless he understands how to lead an attack on the defense. Until then both guys are wasting everyones time.

I think you accidentally included me there. I never said he was close to being a scorer. Unlike you, I just *won't rule out* the possibility that he can show similar improvement to a lot of good players that he's currently ahead of at the same age.
