it does look like david lee is caught as a tweener and a little small to get his shot off. he doesnt really have a jumper, so his moves are mostly on the baseline. hes a hustler, but this pick will be second guessed

Frye and robinson, you cab argue they went close to where they shouldve gone, but lee may have been a real reach.

What makes you think Lee is too small to play PF? From photos and the game against Orlando, he looks just about the same height as Frye.

As for Trevor, yeah, a bit lackluster, but that's nothing to be worried about. Seemed like he was coasting a bit. But he did put up a bigger game, at least numbers-wise, the first game against Portland which we didn't get to see.

Lee just seems to play small. I know this is ridiculous, because it's SL, but he seems wiry and quick, but plays smaller than his height and tentative. He does get on the boards, but I don't know. I wouldn't say he looked as big as Frye out there. Frye looked pretty big - he even won the tip against Howard. Lee will look big next to Malik, at least.

I don't know what game you were watching but lee seemed very much capable of getting his shot off, I think your statement is a bit of a reach, I doubt that anyone will be second guessing the 30th pick in the draft, especially if at the very least lee is a serviceable player off the bench.. But I forgot, Both Blatche and Taft will be league MVP's real soon, so I can see the second guessing comming in droves... (rolling eyes)

Most of the posters here thought the 30th pick was useless anyway. Don't even beging to front. When IT trade Nazr for Malik Rose and the 3o th pick 99% of you guys thought the pick was useless,so don't start jumping on Lee now. I think Lee is a legit 6'9" who rebounds in traffic and can get his own shot off. I wish summer league was more structured, because I think Lee has a lot to offer. He has good hands and can shoot foul shots. I don't know about his jumper because I didn't really see him play much in Florida, but I heard it's serviceable. I don't think he was that bad. Only time will tell what Lee has to offer, so give him a minute before you try to bury him.

You are definitely not lying about that. Everyone blasted him for that trade, and BTW the 30th pick is never questioned, there are low expectations for that pick.

I am amazed by the misperceptions of those who calliam to understand what they are watching?

Lee as Kenyon Martin?

Frye as a mistae at number 8?

Nate Robinson as a chucker?

GET A GRIP PEOPLE!

It's freakin' SUMMER LEAGUE!

Summer League, after only three days of practice together is nothing more than glorified pick-up ball. It is dominated by guards who have free reign to do their thing as plays are improvised and coaches experiment freely with positioins and minutes.

You don't look for blemishes. You look for bright spots and potential skill-sets that can be molded over the off-season and into training camp.

Nate's infectious personality will shine in The Garden. Catch him if you can. This is a brilliant pick up by Isiah.

Chan Frye will work his azz off with Aguirre and MJ's trainer and provide multi-dimensional frontcourt play which is a significant upgrade over the lumbering, but dependable, Kurt Thomas.

David Lee WILL find space to get his shot off in an organized offensive structure

Jackie Butler WILL have his opportunity to throw his weight around.

IT'S SUMMER LEAGUE!

Keep 'em all

I have actualy been pelesently suprised by Fyre so far.

I had very low expectations of him, and have gone on record sayin that I wanted Green, but so far Frye has been able to hold his own.

He improved his rebounding in the 2nd game, doubling it going from 3 to 6, which is pretty good for 21 minutes.

What he has shown so far is that he is a very gifted scorer, as he has been able to put up double digits w/ hardly any plays run for him, at least in the second game.

To me when somebody has a 14-15pt game on his bad night, thats a sign of great talent. The fact that Frye gets to the charity stripe ALOT is very good too. It will get all the lumbering big men that are supposed to dominate him into early faul trouble and take them out of the game.

Frye is no Camby, and no Shaq, but he is a player. Hopefully he becomes somebody in the mold of a young Wallace, who I think is his best comparison for a best case scenario.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

who are you and what have you done with Simrud?

I couldn't agree more...except that I had high expectations for Frye

He gives us what we lacked, an athletic big that gets to the line.

well, as of right now, lee could be an nbdl candidate b/c there's no room for him. between tim, jyd, and malik - there isn't any spot for him to get minutes. but that's ok. we really need to pick between jyd and malik and ship one out - they're totally redundant.

YEAH BABY!!! Preach!!

Lee and Rose for Nazr is looking like a steal...looking? IS a steal.

you guys are all nuts...seriously...nuts...do you actually read what you are typing? Lee had a near double double...frye put up 15/6 (in 20 minutes) and nate was nate...reezy has already shown us what he can do...so, he took a night off in a summer league game where you are basically supposed to stay healthy.

Don't make me post that hater-ade bottle again!

They were playing Lee out of position. Aguirre had him at SF cause they wanted to give some burn to Sundov. I want them to start Frye, Lee, Ariza, Douglas(I think that is his name the one with the crazy hair) and Nate.

Aaron Miles looks pretty decent. don't be surprised if he's the 3rd string PG if Crawford is traded. He looks decent

Its real hard to judge these summer league games because Dwight Howard had like 4pts 2rebs. When he has proven to be cappable of so much more. I was expecting 30-15from him.

All you can go by is the skill sets like. Nates athletism & hops. Lee's ability to start a fast break after grabbing a rebound I liked. Frye altering shots, offensive rebounding, and shooting.

Frye likes to challenge every shot which I think makes him lose position for the rebound though.

Right. Kwame could be the perfect compliment to Frye. Kwame would guard the post which he is strong enough to and does quite well. Frye would be on the weakside going after blocks

Hey... is there any way we can dump off Mo Taylor and get this guy Beasley instead? :)

I'm watching the recap of Summer league game against Orlando and I wanna point out David Lee's ability to handle the ball. He looked very comfortable grabbing the rebound and starting the break with his head up. He showed good passing skills too. He was driving and switch hand beautifully. He just couldn't finish off the plays he started. I think it will come in time.

Defensively he was guarding everyone. I didn't notice it really the first time but he made good switches on defense and a few times he came out to check the point guards and he was moving with them step by step.

David Lee needs minutes. I hope Isiah makes room for these rookies. Isiah said he plans to add another big man which is fine but he needs to make sure David Lee can get off the bench this year ahead of some of these vets we're stuck with.
