Antonio Pierce, what are your thoughts on how your team is playing this week?

This team should be ashamed of itself for this showing. Flat out owned by this team. Super Bowl contenders? LOL.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

I told you that when Phillips went down that CC Brown, his replacement, would prove to be the worst player in the league. And he's shown that today. When Boley went down it just showed us even more slow Pierce, Blackburn and Clark are.

Giants are going to have make a trade to upgrade the safety position, b/c while I think they can be much better than this, they will not have the personell to win the superbowl with the guys they have back there. Before Phillips, Boley, Canty, Ross etc. got injured, sure. But right now it doesn't really seem like they have the guys and Sheridan has not shown he can scheme to overcome it.

this was a good wakeup call for this team... i think they started to believe in all the hype that they were the best team in the NFL before they'd proven it... i knew this week would be a telling sign of where we were & looks like we found our answer... that was a complete ownership of our team in every aspect of the game by the Saints... 7 different players scoring a TD, that's pretty telling right there... our secondary is in shambles right now... i agree w/u V, we definitely need to make some kinda trade to upgrade... & i dunno what happened to our pass rush today, it was completely nonexistent... these guys just came out flat & with no passion whatsoever today & got their butts handed to them by a better team... they need to get back to the grind & come out next week with a lot more intensity... it doesn't get any easier the rest of the way.

We hardly blitzed. I dunno what our game plan was today.

Luckily we face the Cardinals next week. An opportunity to turn it back around against a good passing team and prove we're not a bunch of fakers. We are certainly undermanned right now but we are a heckuva lot better than this.

yeah i was pulling out my hair wondering why we didn't blitz more in this game... Brees was picking us apart standing in the pocket w/all day to throw... no one hardly got near him all game long... u can't let a guy like that throw in rhythm like that w/all the weapons he has at his disposal & expect to win.

Blitz? Are you kidding me? That's the magical answer to beat the Saints this week? Oh, let's set up the screen against Reggie Bush! Let's let the Saints lean on their three-headed RB dragon!

There was a lot wrong this week and there wasn't one answer. Blitzing more solving hte problems of the day?

relax, nobody said that was the answer to beat the Saints, but it very well didnt help matters to give Brees all that time to pick us apart with all the time in the world to throw now did it? we lost cuz we just didnt play well yesterday but a part of the reason the Saints played so well is because we got no pressure at all on the QB. dont take it from me that comes straight from Tom Coughlin.

Actually blitzing may have made a huge difference...at least it would've been better than sitting on your hands and letting Drew Brees take 10 seconds to find his targets downfield and beat your zone coverages. They needed something to disrupt his timing and rhythm. They barely even hit the guy! I mean, did you see the game against the Jets where the Saints offense struggled? They didn't sack the guy a ton, but the Jets basically blitzed all game long and held those guys to 17 pts. Not saying we would've done that, but maybe if we could've forced a turnover or two, we'd have scored enough to be in the game. Yeah we would've been susceptible to big plays, but basically we were susceptible to big plays playing conservatively.

I don't really know why we kept at what we were doing when they were scoring relentlessly against us. Bad gameplan+lack of adjustments is on Sheridan this week. There was some execution things (Webster's missed INT), and some weird penalty calls and bad luck things, but mostly we were just playing the wrong kind of defense to disrupt an offense like that. Right now our front 4 is not healthy enough to rely on to generate all of our pressure. Osi is not all the way back from his injury and Tuck really shouldn't even be playing with his shoulder injury.

I totally agree about the blitzing. I know alot of people say the Giants couldn't blitz because they had to respect the Saints running game, but if you ask me, the Saints running game works so well because the passing game works so well. I woulda blitzed the **** out of Brees instead of letting him pick the D apart with every single pass attempt. If the run game beats you, so be it, but don't let a guy like Brees just roll you over.

There was no pressure whatsoever on Brees. None. He didn't break a sweat. If we even blitzed a little we would have been able to get a couple of stops, or God forbid, cause a turnover. Even if we didn't blitz, at least it wouldn't have been doing the same thing that caused us to give up 40+ points.

read an article about the giants watching film of the game. according to coughlin, there were a lot of players mis-aligned in their blitz packages. a lot of players out of position, supposedly, due to bad habits developed after walking over the last three teams. i can see that as valid, but this weekends game will verify.

My buddy who's a coach closely re-watched the first quarter. He said guys basically completely misread everything. He saw something in the OL that tipped play action and they completely sold out. A few things were they overplayed pass when they should've read run....especially fromt eh LBs. A few guys just overruning plays. Makes you wonder, was Antonio Pierce partying up in the Big Easy? Those pre-snap reads are where we rely on him to excel.
