Philly signing Drummond sounded to me like a blocking move to make sure we didn’t do it. The Knicks likely didn’t have their ducks in a row on the Bridges trade and were holding out waiting in IHart. Nearly all the Centers were snapped up by the time iHart made his decision. Drummond matches the Knicks system too well. Just fills the block when Embiid is out in Philly.

They wanted Drummond from last season. Theyhttp://www.ultimateknicks.com/forum/forum.asp?f=2 had a trade close with the Bulls for him for 2 2nd round picks but the bulls backed out to try and make the playoffs.

Drummond spent a season in Philly doing this role - was already a known quantity to them. I'm surprised he settled for $5mm. Feels like if he saw this center market develop there was more money for him. Its a good situation for him/them either way.

Philly is a very old team with a lot of balky knees. We'll see how their season plays out. Maxey will make them competitive no matter what.

It means that those teams cannot have their salary cap total more than the total of that particular apron.

Bobby is listing why each team is capped at either first or second aprons (which is just fancy word for limit). It is why the first or second aprons were triggered.

So, Atlanta was involved in some sort of sign and trade, and because of that the first apron rule was triggered, and now, for the length of this season, they cannot take in any more salary where a trade would put their total team salary above the first apron of $178M.
