I don't like either candidate but Trump has been so bad during this pandemic that I must vote against him. There is no way Biden can be worse than him.

COVID-19 has killed more police officers this year than all other causes combined, statistics show

In addition to the 100 confirmed coronavirus fatalities listed on the Officer Down website, the nonprofit said it’s in the process of verifying an additional 150 officer deaths due to COVID-19 and presumed to have been contracted in the line of duty, said Chris Cosgriff, executive director of ODMP, in an email.
“By the end of this pandemic, it is very likely that COVID will surpass 9/11 as the single largest incident cause of death for law enforcement officers,” he wrote. Seventy-one officers were killed in the attacks on the twin towers, one officer was killed on United Flight 93, and more than 300 have passed away since then as a result of cancer contracted in the wake of the attacks, according to ODMP.

At the state level, Texas stands out for having the highest number of law enforcement COVID fatalities with at least 21, according to NLEOMF. At least 16 of those represent officers with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, which manages the state’s correctional facilities. Louisiana has 12 COVID-related officer deaths. Florida, New Jersey and Illinois round out the top five with eight each.

“Corrections officers and Corrections Departments have been hit harder than regular police agencies,” Cosgriff said. According to the Marshall Project, a nonprofit criminal justice news site, more than 100,000 U.S. prison inmates have tested positive for coronavirus and at least 928 have died. There have been an additional 24,000 cases and 72 deaths among prison staff.

This is the exact reason why I stopped caring about these people. The logic this guy uses is unbelievable. The best part is how he is "loving life(albeit a little harder to breath)". I wish I could be there when he gets the bill for his ICU stay. I got the bill for my mother and it was a ridiculous amount and she had good insurance. At least I don't have to pay it since it was her bill.

But,but you don't understand. This isn't a battle about just saving lives. It's a battle about saving our souls from Satan and his minions! (I mean biblical Satan, not Trump.) And no, this isn't an Onion article.

https://www.michiganradio.org/post/teacher-voiced-concerns-about-safety-his-school-then-he-was-fired
A teacher voiced concerns about safety at his school. Then he was fired

Smith said the more he learned about how the school planned to re-open, the more concerned he became. He felt the school was violating state safety mandates meant to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in schools.

Smith said he brought those concerns up with Oakdale’s headmaster, David Stanton. But Smith didn’t get the response he hoped for.

“He made it very clear that he would rather close the school’s doors than open with too many restrictions,” Smith said.

Smith had several major concerns about Oakdale’s re-opening plan. The first and biggest one revolved around masks.

The Michigan Safe Schools re-opening roadmap outlines a series of safety requirements and recommendations for each phase of the state’s re-opening. They apply to both public and private schools.

Michigan is currently in phase four. Masks are required for students in sixth grade and above at all times. For grades five and younger, masks are required in all common areas.

But Oakdale has made mask-wearing voluntary. It asked parents to sign a liability waiver and a “facial coverings exemption.” That exemption notes that while wearing facial coverings in indoor public spaces is now the law via executive order, “the Governor’s actions are being challenged in court.” It also quotes sources such as the American Academy for Pediatrics saying “the use of masks may impede the educational process and/or be uncomfortable for adults and children.”

“I don’t want divisiveness here. I do not want to allow our enemy Satan to gain a foothold, not even a toehold, in this school,” Stanton said.

“No one in this school will be judged for wearing a mask, and no one in the school will be judged for not wearing a mask. We cannot allow divisiveness to reign to that end. We cannot allow a debate about science to reign.”

It's maddening, I never get how people can experience bereavement or have brush with death and emerge from it dumber than ever- when my dad died it changed so much about what life was to me, and triggered a long long period of trying to figure things out, aging, the passing of time, regrets, what I thought was important in life, and how scared of dying I am, how difficult it is to just carry on as before with this knew knowledge and experience etc etc. Other people seem to come away like they've just been to the cinema to see a bad movie, and just carry on as before- it's mind blowing!

And now it's come to this. At least their not ignoring the issue anymore. Oh, right. This was the plan long before the pandemic hit.

Tyson Foods to open medical clinics at several of its U.S. meat plants

Tyson Foods is planning to open medical clinics at several of its U.S. plants to improve the health of its workers and better protect them from the coronavirus.

The Springdale, Arkansas-based company, which processes about 20% of all beef, pork and chicken in the U.S., said that the plan to open clinics near its plants was in the works before the coronavirus struck this year, but that it will undoubtedly help the company respond to the pandemic.

Washington man gets stunning souvenir with COVID-19 treatment: a $1.1 million bill

WASHINGTON (SBG) — After a two-month battle with coronavirus, one Seattle man says he got a statement of charges totaling more than $1.1 million. As the price of the pandemic comes into focus, some experts say that cost may eventually fall to all of us.

Flor was lucky. The 70-year-old made a full recovery and says he only had to cover about $3,000 of that huge medical bill, thanks to Medicare, supplemental insurance, and Congressional funding designed to help hospitals defray pandemic costs. But Flor knows others may not be so lucky, and says he doesn't want to see people go into financial ruin because they get sick.

That’s f’ing nuts. Hey, that $3000 is still a lot but that’s lucky.

Yeah, this virus is scary on all levels. It sounds like this guy had a more serious case than usual and he's lucky to be alive. But the financial stress attached to treatment is huge. I wonder how many of these ant-maskers are willing to turn down covid related medical treatment if they need it. Will they continue to drain the medical system like those so-called people the always point their fingers at? The country's healthcare system is broken. You can't keep ignoring that fact and blaming other people. What's more important, building a damn wall or having access to health-care? Unfortunately, modern medicine hasn't advanced enough to treat stupidity.

Rule number 1 never trust the government. From the beginning when they said masks won't help red flags went off in my head. If they will lie about something so obvious as using a mask will help slow down the spread what wont they lie about? From then on I played things safe as possible and ignored anyone else who told me otherwise.

Why would you do this while in so many countries the numbers are going up again?! In Europe Spain and France are literally setting new highs in newly infected every day at the moment... India and Brazil are still complete wildfires!!!

We already knew some people were having heart damage from this virus. However, hearing how diminished some people like the personal trainer is now compared to before the virus is scary. She used to be a personal trainer and now she said she gets winded walking across the room. The doctors explaining just how badly the virus kills heart cells was another scary thing. It kills heart cell nuclei. This makes those cell unable to regenerate or heal.

Just talked to a regular customer for the first time since well before the pandemic. She had the covid in May and she is still having trouble breathing with chest pain. And people won’t take a vaccine. Crazy.

Does anyone know the numbers for people with ongoing effects from covid? Are we talking about thousands, tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands?

I had Covid in April. 45y/o extremely active. Crossfit 5 days a week, soccer twice a week, Kickboxing 3x a week and Basketball in the weekends when possible (before shutdown).
Had all the symptoms minus loss of smell and taste. Out for roughly 7-10 days. lost about 10lb during that time...Since I've "recovered", I find myself fatiguing a lot faster and it's become lot harder to breathe, and catch my breath, in the middle and after workouts.
I sometimes wonder that if this is what I'm currently going through, what are some of these professional athletes experiencing after having COVID? I wish some would go public with how their health is afterwards.

Thanks for sharing this, I think athletes are scared of sharing because it could deter teams from offering them contracts. I do wish more people would speak out though, it feels very much like it's being hushed up or people with slow recoveries have kind of been brushed under the carpet- it's only fair you get some answers or more info as to what's happening and whether other people who experienced similar impacts have improved. The bit of hope I cling to is that ages ago there was an article saying that as covid-19 attacked/infected blood cells, there was hope that maybe the fatigue is due to damaged red blood cells (so they're less able to carry oxygen), and maybe as those red blood cells are replaced, the symptoms will diminish. I think red blood cells tend to last 120 days, so I do hope you start to show an improvement soon.
